Joe Mazzulla REACTS to Celtics Loss to Pacers | Postgame Interview 1/8/24

Won in the last few minutes we took the lead up two um battled back but that third quarter they just they just play with a little bit of inspiration almost and that’s what he does right we talk about uh we mentioned that in both pream where uh as good as the halberton

Minutes are the McConnell minutes they lead the league in bench points and uh his um you know 40% of their points Come From the Bench and so just little play whether it’s knocking the ball out of bounds whether it’s getting a loose ball whether it’s uh deflecting a pass or or

You know right-and drive so I thought uh that whole the second half came down that third quarter we you know we got to play better did they make any adjusta or anything no it’s pure yeah they just yeah pure emotion pure hustle um and they made some tough shots you know like

It’s funny that you’d sit here last game uh n Smith was 0 for seven Matan didn’t play they they the uh roll guys stepped up and made big shots I thought uh Matan hit some timely threes I thought heel hit a couple timely threes like the step

Back three in the corner the contested three like they they played well they they had a great third quarter and they they made plays DJ both games kind of changed things in the first one when you see a guy coming off the bench for an opponent you can see

That he’s clearly changing theer of the game what are you saying to the team uh I mean you you still you can’t you know you just got to the way he affects the game are intangible things so you have to just pay more attention to the intangibles he

Gets out in transition he gets deflections uh he makes passes harder on defense and so you just have to pay extra attention to the details you know to to the intangible things the Start we had time CU I think we got it at 47 45 we got to shoot it by 28 and so I wanted to see where the play went see what we got and then it was a broken play and then you know called the time

Out there so uh didn’t want to call it too early because you have to shoot it by 28 you’re you’re going to hold it for 15 to 18 seconds and so wanted to see what we able to get out of it and then um once we got across half court you

Know felt like we we lost the advantage so he called it aside from the very end there jailing had a great game yeah especially play making at the end we found K how how did he step up tonight especially yeah he stepped up uh I thought he didn’t force anything um 40

Points on 26 shots he was efficient I uh let the game come to him scored in many different ways um but we all have to be better on defense No 25o Quarters and a 44o quarter isn’t good enough for us to win um so we all have to be better on

That I thought he organized the offense I thought he organized The Zone really well and like I said I thought we all played a relatively decent offensive game but we had no 25o quarters and a 44-point third so uh we all have to be better on defense you said fourth game

You play their game it won’t go well for didn’t seem like was no I think just a transition in the third quarter I really think they that and I thought their Ro guys made made big plays I thought between McConnell uh Maan and uh you know n Smith and the

Heel three I thought when those guys make plays you know they’re tough to guard and so you got to be they move and you got to be willing to see what you’re going to take away mathine step back three was big heel step back three was good so we didn’t necessarily play their

Game I just thought that third quarter we played you know we played their game what happened to you nothing why really I didn’t notice that uh I mean it’s a little bit of both it’s a matchup thing um and both of our bigs were healthy so we’re fully healthy

At the forward depth spot um you know missing two wings so you make up for it in different areas there so just a match up thing there a few slips obviously um you have any idea what’s going On thank you

INDIANAPOLIS — Following the Celtics narrow 133-131 loss to the Indiana Pacers, Boston’s Head Coach Joe Mazzulla shared an interesting detail in his post-game remarks. Mazzulla mentioned that Buddy Hield of the Pacers admitted to him that he had fouled Jaylen Brown on the game’s final play. This was significant as Brown initially believed he was going to the free-throw line for potentially game-deciding shots after officials called a foul on Hield with the game tied at 131 and just 3.2 seconds left. However, upon review, the call was overturned, and possession was awarded to the Pacers, a turn of events Mazzulla noted with anticipation, saying, “I can’t wait for 4pm tomorrow.”

  1. Refs threw the pacers the game

That was a joke I don’t care yeah we should be holding the pacers on defense better but the nba needs to be fair that shit was a joke

  2. I'll lean towards fanboys and horrible call that ref that made the call is from Indianapolis or he studied there even if u rigged the game the team ur trying to help out has to still make buckets.

  3. lol none of the post game questions were about the ending game foul on Jaylen nope let’s sweep this game under the table

  4. Again, Joe doesn't call a time out!!!!!!!! When time and time and time, it's the same results….a bad shot selection, even though Brown was fouled at the end

  5. Absolutely ridiculous refereeing. JB clearly got hit in the head and they give the Pacers the ball instead of a jump ball after the play was whistled dead. Then they compound that by bailing out Mathurin who launched himself forward into Porzingis.

I think it was also poor coaching by Joe. I'm usually a fan of Joe but keeping Porzingis on McConnell in the 3rd quarter wasn't working and made no sense. He couldn't keep up with him and it sparked the Pacers' run. They also had JB guarding Myles Turner down low when we had Horford and Porzingis on the court. I don't understand why we couldn't just play them straight up and go under screens with McConnell

  6. they call a foul on a play go to a monitor look at the foul again from every angle and then say it was clean smh

  7. Joe Mazzulla WORST COACH adjustment in 3rd quarter damn 😤😤😤😤😤😤😠😠😠🤬🤬😠😠🤬😠🤬😠😠

  8. Bad officiating aside, you still don't know how to use your timeouts effectively. Go borrow Brad's notes!

  9. Joe lost us this game. Double bigs needs to be abolished (we don’t have Rob anymore) I don’t want to see it unless the team we are playing against aren’t a fast paced and good shooting team which is really rare now. Those SVI minutes were also pointless at what point in the game the way they were scoring on us at ease did you think it was a good idea to put him in the game? Then the dummy didn’t call a timeout forget the terrible officiating late we don’t deal with that if you just call a timeout and make it a point of emphasis to get the last shot possible worst case scenario we go to overtime. Jrue needs to also stop running the defense take the keys away from him we aren’t great at defending the perimeter like how we should be running it the way he wants to run it.

  10. We use this loss as fuel to come out angry and furious against a very good Timberwolves team at home. Keep playing the 48 minutes as if the refs were going against us, give them every reason not to in the next game.
