Knicks News. Julius Randle Reveals The Key Change He Made This Season To Dominate!

How about Julius Randall uh great great article by Fred who interviewed Randall and talked about uh what’s changed in his approach because similar situation where whether you’re looking at the eye test watching the games or you’re looking at the stats you’re seeing the guy who is again changing his shot diet for the

Betterment of the team and he’s seeing great results he’s now averaging 15 drives per game compared to nine in the past with the Knicks way more attempts and efficiency from inside 10 feet which is right where you want to see him uh operating and the key thing in Fred’s

Article when he talked to Julius about what’s changed and Julius said while he was on the menend from the ankle surgery he was in he was in a a hotel room for two weeks he he was eMobile and he said he started watching more film and no noticed that he was taking bad

Shots this is this is in the article for me saying for the last two season wait a he according to fredd he eventually noticed a theve despite his success too many shots were needlessly difficult you notice now bro he doesn’t take those step back threes like that no more he

Does not doesn’t the spinner Rudy as as our guy AR Carlo illustriously described it uh is no longer not as much and he’s not taking those step backs the long twos they’re cutting out the long twos he’s cutting out get getting the the the the post UPS

Way high up by the elbow he’s dabed down the three-point line try to post up making the game easier on himself you gotta like that man because it’s it’s noticeable it’s a noticeable difference in his game absolutely but I’ll say this as funny as it is for because that’s

What we on this channel been saying about random it’s like dude is just a tank he can get to any spot in the paint that he wants to that’s all he needs to do we we we like and we’ve noticed that the jump shot yeah we even talked about

Last year it’s like every time BR took a mid-range jumper you’re like okay that’s pretty confident going jul would make a take a mid-range it’s not like it’s wide open it’s like s step double team it’s like a lot of these Kobes shots he’s taken a lot of right where it’s like

Very challenging shots that you should only take shot clock winding and you can hit those and to credit this season when the shot clock has been winding down in difficult situations and I’m thinking like what like uh what I guess against the timber woles right he is knocking

Those shots down same thing with the bulls man he’s knocking those shots down and so I gotta give him credit there uh but he did mention on Paul George podcast that he said he wanted to be more efficient right and watching film was a big thing to

Him and you could just see it like the way he approaches the game it’s much more simple for and it is efficient y because he recognizes hey most of these guys in the league can’t stop me and that’s those are his words essentially I’m parring but that’s what

He’s noticed and when you see it on a night toight basis this is the Julius Randle where I’m like this game is transferable and I it gives me more confidence that this is more transferable to the playoffs because they’re not difficult shots like and how he’s reading the game where he’s

Seeing the double team sometimes yeah it’s a little late but for the most part this season he’s been on point with making his reads man and I can’t I can’t like you can’t knock him for that he’s been playing really well and this is like when I look at Brunson and Randle

I’m like okay these are the two legit stars like brunson’s efficient now randle’s efficient right and and from going and moving on forward like both their play styles are very physical this is a team that you don’t really want to face because of their physicality yeah along with their

Role players right not only do you talk about OG you talk about Josh Hart Dante’s physical grinds could be a physical McBride hartenstein if Mitch were healthy he’d be there too like it’s this entire team man with the way randle’s playing and Brunson everything’s just so complimentary but

Sometimes man this is where an injury can be good for a player right where you just instead of like he’s probably a guy that just like con consistently thinks about the grind just like going back to the gym putting the work in whether it’s shooting back putting up shots whether

It’s lifting weights to take a step back and slow down and say all right what can I do now to actually improve my game hey yeah look at more film man this is something that it’s interesting because this like for a guy who admires Kobe this is something that Kobe always

Preached about looking at the film and going and going back to looking at what you can improve and I hope that it doesn’t stop here that Rand continues to include that in his work ethic moving forward absolutely and and what you’re seeing is also and we have to give him a

Lot of credit for is an improvement in leadership leadership style because he said it on the on that Paul George podcast also about wanting to evolve as a veteran in the game and seeing the game differently and and having the game continue to slow down to make better decisions using the things

That he’s learned from his trials and tribulations from his success and failure to make him a better player that’s a great job by him his attitude has changed he’s playing more spirited on both ends of the floor making great decisions and using film to be better

What what more could you ask for in a play so I I think that’s a great job by him because he’s always he’s always coming in into camp in shape and tiptop physical condition he always work puts in that work now he’s putting in the film work could could be seeing a

Different guy here man for sure and there is one thing I can ask for yeah when you talk to the rest talk with a smile on your face man yeah so there it is but yeah great J great interview uh from Fred couple other notes from Fred’s article uh since

No since November 15th randle’s true shooting percentage has G up to 61% and effective field goal percentage of 56% 61% 61% true cow 61 that’s efficient yeah 6 61% man and for people who don’t know that’s not only the the the two pointers three-pointers that’s also your

Free throw percent so like 61% is usually like Devin Booker s essentially yeah when you’re shooting that high Greg Gregory Wier he’s maturing as a player absolutely and the the other thing he he mentioned in here was the increase in the amount of uh pick and roles that he

Was running as the season has progress like once he got into November they were utilizing him and Mitch in the four five pick and roll to draw the big away from the basket allowing Julius to get more Steam and hit the basket and finish where the biggest kind of

Trailing and trying to catch up and so that was a great adjustment there by by him and by tibs to get him easier shots and so I that makes me think like obviously you you know a lot of teams are trying to pull pull the big away

From the basket for sure as as a basic you know element of of of an NBA offense but with the addition of obie and our guy Chris Percy person Nan had asked tibs this question when OG first got there where he said could you see them playing small with o at the four

Julius at the five to typical tips answers you know I’ll consider it but hey is that a possibility with OG’s versatility his size a potential small ball lineup maybe you have you know Brunson Dante maybe you have heart in there because you know he loves heart uh

Uh you know he’s got he’s got to have hard in there doing something how many you think he writes Josh hard on a week basis exactly which is not a bad thing I I don’t think which is not a bad thing but maybe maybe sometimes you maybe you

Write might run out a lineup of Jaylen Dante Hart OG Julius and maybe now you’re run maybe now you’re running you know uh uh pick and rolls with with with with OG or maybe you’re running more pick and rolls maybe you’re finally running more pick and rolls five with Jaylen and Julius

Oh man see how that looks that would be a revelation yeah uh I think I mean to your point it wouldn’t even be Randall at the five it’ be OG at the five if they run something yeah you know what I mean but that would be nice I mean and no

One’s asking for like long stretches of the game but if the game permits it why not just Tinker because who knows maybe that’s a that’s a lineup you can use in the playoffs

FOR THE FANS, BY THE FANS!!!

  1. Yes indeed. From that podcast P interview he admitted he doesn’t watch tape. His IQ on the court was his main problem, so to see him make the step is commendable.

  2. Ok, how many times have I said that Randle is better when he is facing the basket? He can see the floor better than having his back to the basket!

  3. Add skilled length for the bench. Keep it simple bring in Derozan and a skilled big man. Booker is not the answer, scorers with no defense, usually don't win in the playoffs

  4. I've been respecting Jues game since day one. When you watch him as a player since a rookie you could see the potential to become the player he's forming into now. He's putting in the work and it's paying off for him. He's been put through a blender in NYC and he survived that. He's right on par in his player development age wise and skill wise. Between this yr and next we should be looking at MVP Jue 💯

  5. Gotta wonder why we have so many damn coaches on the bench. Isn’t that the job of coaches to coach players on all aspects of their game on a game by game basis? So I’m hearing that it took an injury and significant down time to decide it’s important to look at film in order to improve his game. It’s funny every season you get some form of an introspective discussion from Randle. Either it’s been his understanding that he was being overly surly and emotional during games. There was also right before he signed his extension how he wanted to be a NYK’s for life and how he loved the fans even though they were voicing their displeasure with his play and attitude. Now he sees how his shot selection trended more toward being an out of control chucker opposed to being more of an efficient scorer by taking less 3’s and being more of a downhill force. All those coaches sitting behind Thib’s must not have any other duties beside making sure the players are taped up and hydrated.

  6. RJ was taking bad shots too. I mean these guys didn't join the NBA yesterday. So when does a coach bang them over the head and tell them. And when do they get the message?

  7. The difference in his game has a lot do with the success Jaylen Brunson has with the team. He can see first hand that you can be successful in the league without taking a big volume of 3s. Sticking to your strengths is key.

  8. Julius is being nice. What he really means is that since Mitch been hurt he can get an ACTUAL one on who match up. We see it to big bro. It's ok. Lol

  9. Like it or not Julius Randle is a work horse that is integral to a Thibs team. Of course he has flaws to his game but have you seen how many minutes this guy logs in every season? The very definition of durable.

  10. I like to picture Randle recuperating in his hotel, watching KFTV, hearing the criticism, and then looking at the tape and agreeing. Regardless, VOTE for RANDLE and BRUNSON. Don't let them be denied they both deserve the ALL STAR GAME.

  11. Salutes! A number of things have contributed to Julius' recent uptick I feel. He has withstood the ire of fans and media. He is more comfortable having a stronger supporting cast. He is showing signs of understanding what the opposing defense are throwing at him. In short, he is maturing as a player and I couldn't be happier, as a fan that's been longing to move him for the last 3 years.

  12. I think even more important that the realization he was taking bad shots was Randle losing weight. He lost some of that extra weight, which allows him to take bigs off the dribble and elevate more at the rim. 1-2-3 years ago he didn't have the same speed or lift or body control – when he drove to the hoop, those used to be barrelling down, not looking line-drives that were either fouls or TOs or blocked shot attempts. Now, he moves faster, his handle improved, he has better awareness, uses euro step better, changes directions. A big who drives into the paint will be a more efficient scorer unless he is a lights-out shooter and Randle ain't that.

  13. I was one of those that thought Randle was just a bad fit. But he’s played to his strengths and he’s proving me wrong. This is exactly how he needs to play. It’s great to be wrong sometimes.

  14. Only thing he did was finally study Anthony mason tapes and found out he ain’t Anthony mason and got back to being Julius randle

  15. I get it's an emotional game but you have to control it. Sometimes when Randle gets stopped by a defender or the ball stolen, he immediately wants payback, even if he has to go through to 2 or 3 defenders and that's not the smart play, winning the game is the biggest payback. Also, he's gotta know he doesn't have the best handles, and the other teams know that, so they want him to dribble the ball. I see a better Randle now, he doesn't hesitate, pass and go, he still dribbles a little too much for my taste, but his offense is meshing better with the team and not trying to play hero ball.

  16. If only the 2 time all-star / 2x all-nba would of listened to the ytube content creator "experts." Definitely worth a good laugh… many thanks.

  17. Nothing’s changed! It’s just 4 games…he’s a bigger, better version of Melo with better inside game…and still doesn’t play defense!
