Already be regretting their pick from the 2023 NBA draft these are teams that picked either in the lottery or the middle of the first round and in hindsight passed on much better talent and value that could be helping their teams and be much better fits I do want

To emphasize that I’m not saying that all of the players we’re discussing today are busts who will fail in the long run either because they can all absolutely still Blossom but there were also much better options to be had where they were selected before we start

Let’s begin the first team that may already be regretting their pick in the 2023 NBA draft is the Portland Trailblazers who selected scoot Henderson third overall this one pains me to have to include because any of you who have been watching my channel for a

While know that I was and still am very high on scoot Henderson as a prospect but the beginning of his career in the league has been rough to say the least as I said in the intro I’m not abandoning my belief in these players abilities to figure it out in the long

Run but when it comes to Henderson he’s definitely not turning out to be the kind of guard prospect that is Head and Shoulders ahead of the rest of the pack like he was labeled by many at the time what made him so intriguing were his gifts athletically and physically as an

Explosive and Speedy guard who played with confidence attacking on offense but so far in the NBA that confidence has not shined through he’s second guessing himself a lot he’s making bad decisions with the ball in his hands both regarding his shot selection and his passing decisions resulting in turnovers

And he’s getting taken advantage of on defense committing a lot of bad fouls he has also been very inefficient as a scorer but even with all of that being said those things are expected from young guards because their learning curve tends to be the most difficult what’s also expected though is for these

Young guards to at least show Regular flashes of potential stardom in the making even if their play game to game is inconsistent and that’s where Henderson has been lacking he has been progressively improving as the year has gone on but it’s been slow and gradual and as I said before he hasn’t done

Enough to justify himself as a top three pick with so many other players from this class performing better the next team that may already be regretting their pick from the 2023 draft is the Houston Rockets who selected amen Thompson fourth overall selected one pick after scoot Henderson Thompson has

Unfortunately not looked like the elite top five caliber Prospect he was hyped up as either what made him so special as a prospect was not only the fact that he was one of the most explosive athletes in the whole class but he was also demonstrating budding playmaking skills

As a big point guard who could see the floor well and make plays for those around him on top of his ability to get to the rim with ease his NBA journey to this point though has been pretty lackluster of course you can’t fault a player for getting injured and Thompson

Did suffer an ankle injury that held him out of 15 games but in the time that he has gotten on the court some of his weaknesses have really been glaring for one amen Thompson’s jumper needs a lot of work he’s making just 177% of his

Threes on the year and most of the time they don’t even look all that close he’s averaging just five points and fewer than two isus per game coming off the bench in Houston and he hasn’t even really been able to play the point guard spot all that much with Fred Van vit

Also now being ahead of him again Thompson will likely require patience with his development and absolutely still has the makings of a quality play player in the league but taking him fourth overall in this draft is a hefty investment for what they’ve gotten back to this point the next team that may

Already be regretting their pick from the 2023 draft is the Orlando Magic who selected jet Howard with the 11th pick this is a selection that looked incredibly questionable at the time it was made and now in hindsight there still isn’t much justification for it before the draft Howard was projected to

Be a mid first round pick at best and realistically was viewed more of a late first round selection but the magic shocked a lot of people when they took him in the lottery and looking back they passed on a ton of quality talent in favor of Howard who isn’t even in their

Rotation right now the appeal of Howard was hypothetically his ability to be a wing scorer that could provide shot creation but he was only ever a mediocre shooter at the college level and defensively he needed a lot of work despite his 6’8 frame he’s too slow to

Defend Wing players and he’s not strong enough to defend big men which is probably why he hasn’t been able to get minutes for an Orlando Magic team currently building their identity on the defensive end some players picked after Howard in that same range include haime hakz Brandon pky Keon George and Derek

Lively who are all making an immediate impact on their teams right now while there is no guarantee that jet Howard ever establishes himself as a reliable member of the rotation the next team that may already be reading their 2023 draft pick is the Toronto Raptors who selected Grady dick 13th overall Grady

Dick was labeled as one of if not the best Shooters in the entire draft class so for the Raptors team that ranked in the bottom three of The League last season shooting the three dick seemed like an obvious fit and need at the time the issue with this however has been the

Fact that Grady dicks jumper has not translated at all at the NBA level because of that he’s lost his spot in the team’s rotation after 14 games in the first 14 games of the year when he was playing pretty regularly he was shooting just 24% from Deep for a guy
