Questionable calls the difference as Raptors narrowly lose to Lakers

Raptors drop one of the Lakers 16 laid changes uh even in a loss and you know they’re fighting the officials a little bit what do you make of that I know Raptor fans are upset the way the calls went I just think for a season for the season the fish ain’t been so

Inconsistent and I don’t like the harp on the officials it’s a tough job but it got to get more consistent and the players will adjust to the whistle but it can’t be one whistle in the first half and a different whistle in the second half yeah like this this just

Seems like inent contact right yeah I mean that’s just a good smart play it’s just like when guys run dhos dribble hand off when they when the guy comes off they step there set that screen that’s why you practice and do these things so we see RJ uh we see Emanuel

Quickly I asked you before we started the show what you what your initial thoughts on the trade were now that you’ve seen these guys play with the Ws a little bit what are your thoughts initially I thought it was a good trade I thought OG needed to go somewhere

Because there was times he got lost in the shuffle I think bringing RJ Barrett home was great but then add an emanu quickly I think that’s the piece that the Raptors really want cuz RJ and OG they cancel each other out you look at the numbers they’re similar type players

But they needed a guard like quickly and if you look at the NBA today Jay if you don’t have a guard that can score you’re behind the eight ball you can’t win I think the Raptors are starting to catch up with everybody by making this move

For quickly in RJ you’ve been in so many locker rooms as a player and as a coach and a guy like quickly comes in he’s got a big personality it’s good for this team do you think great look at how they’re playing energy and plus he’s coming to a team

Now he he was a bench player coming off the bench a very good one for the Knicks but now he’s got a chance to do with all players a chance to start this is on him now if he can prove that he’s a starting point guard for the Toronto Raptors

Messiah J gonna sign him to nice contract this summer and you start looking at him in the back court with RJ Scotty Barnes we don’t know what’s going to happen with Pascal but those three guys with Perle those are four pretty good young players start building around

Yeah really nice uh meanwhile for the Lakers LeBron obviously been frustrated with the Lakers play of late uh says we just suck right now um that was a remark last week remember this team won the playing tournament they reached the Western Conference Final last year looking at them against the Raptors on

Tuesday Sam do you see them this roster the way it’s constructed do you think they’ll be able to get back to where they two good wins they beat the Clippers the other night this was a good win against the Raptors but I don’t see it when you’re in the 10th seed right

Now it’s just to High to climb and right now the Lakers don’t know their identity are you a defensive team are you a three-point shooting team are you a fast break team or you a half court executive team but to me they got to rely on their defense until they get their defense

Figured out until they understand that then to me they’re going to win some games and lose some games they’re gonna stay in the middle of the pack round that playin but you talking about a team with Anthony Davis and LeBron the playin should be more of an embarrassment than

A goal for it really should we got you talking about LeBron James Anthony Davis on your team and you’re and you make the play in I mean you should be fighting for one of those top four at least top six spots

The Raptors battled down to the wire with the Lakers on Tuesday night but came out on the losing end. Sam Mitchell joins Jay Onrait to discuss the close contest that could’ve went either way, the inconsistent officiating in the NBA this season, strong Raptors’ career starts from RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley, and LeBron James’ comments saying the Lakers were “just stuck right now.”

  1. Refs biased calls against the Celtics. Lost the game.

Refs biased calls in favor of the Lakers. Won the game.

    🙂🤔

  2. The quickley flagrant could be called on every layup if defender just steps in front. Your elbow is ALWAYS above your shoulder

  3. Sam Mitchell forgot to say "and the refs". When you have LBJ and AD and the refs. That's the only way the Lakers go anywhere in the playoffs.

  4. Once Darko lost the challenge, it was green light for the refs.. There's more to basketball than actual basketball.. Anthony Davis took advantage fully knowing the refs favored the Lakers by flopping and falling at every contact. Ok Lebron hooked up AD most of the game, good for them, but we had more points in the paint. Darko told Scotty to play through contact regardless of calls.. But the bias from the refs was so obvious. Even if the Raptors played through Siakam more, it was predetermined that they were not getting any foul calls upon physical contact.
Also that one basketball interference was so obvious but Ben Taylor stopped the other ref from review and took the initiative to give 3 free throws instead. Ben Taylor is a conniving refree.. Smh.

  5. It's not the refs fault, they are just pawns. It's the NBA who is doing it and it happens every night. 100% rigged tonight was just too blatant. Great job on coach to call them out!

  6. The refs have gotta be betting on games. The players association should get an independent investigation going on cause it's gonna get worse as sportsbooks become legal in more states. I'm convinced Vegas is the reason reffing has gotten so awful.

  7. It’s official, the refs are once again back on LeFraud’s side after he cried to his personal friend Adam Sliver when he lost to the Timberwolves.

  8. The NBA will find a trade to boost the Lakers—a player will miraculously become available and get traded to the Fakers—Kareem, Shaq, Gasol, Howard, Davis—history don’t lie. All the manipulation is there to see.

  9. I understand that this country only covers one team but you have to be less bias as our main source of sports content. It’s created an entire fanbase with no real basketball knowledge and unrealistic expectations

  10. The officials shouldn’t ref another game in the league and should be investigated for tampering… also the media should grow a backbone and not try to act like it was a one off or only a few of the calls were questionable.

  11. They have MVP awards. They should give out MVR, most valuable ref, awards to the worst refs.

  12. Sam cannot be serious saying Lakers got a good win against the Raptors, that was an embarrassing win! The game was handed to them by the refs! Come on 20+ free throws while no calls for the fouls against Scottie and the way they fouled out Quickley. The officiating was complete BS!
