  1. People keep forgetting how the FBI has investigated this league more than any other for rigged games/corrupt refs.

It’s clear as day they want the Lakers in the playoffs

edit: If that is considered a foul in today’s nba why on earth are we watching this soft non contact sport?

  2. Refs do that for sure, and it is very annoying. Its not a unique issue to the Lakers, though. Usually the camera is on the basket, and you see the ball bounce out before the whistle gets blown.

I dont even like this being a foul, but I have also seen that called a foul enough times to assume it is one.

Watch any game, the refs do this all the time. I don’t know if it’s an official rule, but they give the advantage all the time, and then call the foul if the shot misses.

  4. I don’t even understand where the foul is here

Barnes hits the ball, Reaves is the one that initiates contact, and the defender doesn’t touch Reaves on the shot after the initial contact created by Reaves

Hell of an Arm bar on AD. Literally pulled his whole arm down away from the basket

This happens every game btw. It’s never going to change

  7. If they’re gonna call that a foul, Scottie definitely should’ve had an “and 1” with Christie draping all over him at the other end.

  8. The call is late because that’s not usually his call to make.

The sideline and underbasket refs are closer to the action, and generally their call to make. Since they didn’t call it, Ben did.

Depending on how you feel about Ben Taylor, that probably makes it better or worse.

But that’s the mechanics of why the call was late.

Literally all refs do this, it’s pretty annoying

Stacey king has been advocating against this for a minute now lol

My hot take is it’s good that the refs do this. Lowers fouls overall, avoids giving an extra point on semi-marginal contact, and it’s reasonable to wait a beat to see how much the contact affected the shot.

I get it’s frustrating for the players (and fans of the two teams playing, depending on what happens) but as a neutral viewer I usually don’t mind or even like it.

Ref here. It’s a clear foul but outside his primary area. Ref protocol is give the covering official a chance to call the foul, and then come in with a cadence whistle if they don’t call it. Like it or not, this was called properly.

is this even a foul? it’s like all the foul merchants (cp3, harden, etc) stopped getting these calls and for some reason AR got grandfathered in

i say this as someone that despises the warriors. if steph got called like this he’d average over 40

Pretty sure the Lakers are in the 20s in terms of free throws attempted

Also, pretty sure that a couple of weeks ago this same raptor team had 29 free throws against the Cavaliers, who only had six but I don’t remember the public outcry being the same
