Ime Udoka on Alperen Sengun: “He played one half of basketball, basically”
He did the last 20 or so minutes he played one half of basketball basically he decided to show up at halftime and exerted himself the way he normally does and so um saw the player that he is more so growth and development on the topic of jabari’s Defense I’m wondering what you’ve seen
From him more broadly this year given that it’s still just his second year in the league he’s only 20 years old and you’re asking him to guard his really Elite Wings yeah versatility I think you know he’s starting at the four and guarding a lot of small ball for us and
We can switch him down to three like we did for the second half but also switch on to fives and so he gives us versatility with his length um you know it’s just a matter of kind of getting those um matchups under his belt and I
Think a lot of guys saw that for the first time tonight we talked about D rozan pump fake sweep through and all the things and some of our rookies went for it and so they just got to get accustomed to certain guys and I think Jabar is getting more used to that in
His second year like you guys are most successful scoring inside on a lot of back door Cuts is that something that you like to see more of going forward yeah off ball movement is Big especially for teams that don’t switch off ball um want to stay with their own so you know
Like I said every game presents challenges and this team doesn’t switch a lot and we had some opportunities there and you know missed some passes and we had a few chances there but um you know those are some of looks we got late that we didn’t convert to 18 in the
Fourth was that your defense or was that just they were missing shots that they were making earlier well I felt we increased it even to start the quarter but in the last8 minutes being down 11 you know in the timeout we talked about 8 minutes plenty of time to get back in
The game but we have to guard and do our part and so I think our aggressiveness overall in that quarter was great and then obviously in that La last eight minutes to work oursel back into the game and so um felt like not only did we
Start to play a little bit too late in the the second half but even in that fourth quarter we guarded the way that we should have in the first half thank you co thank you
Ime Udoka spoke to the media after the Houston Rockets fell in overtime on the road to the Chicago Bulls on 1/10/2024. Alperen Sengun was scoreless in the first half, going 0-5 from the field and 0-2 from the line, but exploded for 25 points in the second half plus overtime period.

first, you Cut your EGO..
Alperen is only 20Years old. What you except? he is already one of the best Centers in the NBA.
So many times, your not a very good coach. I thought you are! Same with other coaches, you know why they lost, because of their EGO on Some players..
dude you are not using him effectively. i dont get majority of HOU fans who think he is a good coach. Alpi lost tons of skills after you! he does not do any flasy stuff anymore. noone cuts when he has the ball . you always took him out with vanvleet. dude let him run the offense without vanvleet. and f ur ego
Jalen trade. Hala o malı savunacak fanboylar varsa onların ben beynini …..
Maybe you can help the other starter by keeping Tate off the line-up. Jalen is piss poor shooter but Tate is one of the few who can compete with Jalen and we can clearly see Fred, Jabari and Segun has shooting percentage fallen ever since Tate became a starter
Nobody does backdoor cut when Alpi has the ball. Your guards cannot shoot man!
If green is a basketball player, i am a panda bear
Good defence,static offence.
No body moves when Alpe got the ball.
Your team is tired. Let them rest.
Bring back the 2man game.freed must be an offball player..
if you ask Alpy to score first then facilitate second, pretty sure he will try to deliver that and we see it on usage rate.
but if you tell him to find open man and he will find them, and try to score if you can't find open man, then we shouldn't say he played half a game cause he didn't score or that's no assist cause open man missed his shot. or he ends up shooting distant mid range where he is low percentage or tries to drive to basket where its crowed.
it doesn't sounds fair even considering he is young or learning or whatever. he screens constantly, protects rim constantly, handoffs constantly. its still not a half game.
as a coach, adept to players needs, if you want him to be effective.
btw, FVV was 3-14 from the three, and JG, Jabari shoot attempts really shows about the usage rate.
He has More Potential than Jokic , if he can reach his full potential, he will be the MVP for a long time !!
Just Amazing !!
