Chauncey Billups Postgame Interview | Portland Trail Blazers 84, New York Knicks 112

Well could you take anything away from that positive or just I guess how would you sum up that uh it was it was a tough one it was a tough one they came out you know it was really more about them than us to be honest with you they came

Out and uh they were very physical you know took us out of some things we didn’t really respond um and then they they these made shots too man you know there was so many opportunities I thought in that first quarter that we had some of our shooters that had good

Looks and couldn’t make it then we couldn’t stop them uh sh we talked about their offensive rebound they first in the league Second Chance points and I caught a first time out they had half four already you know um did a good job on our first possession defensively and then they put

It up on the on the rim and they got it back you know so it just it’s tough it’s tough but you get them credit you know they did what they had to do they played well um we just didn’t an and Shaden combined for 59 in Brooklyn that

Obviously helped an F start tonight seven and then like s the rest of the way how difficult is it for you guys to get anything going those two aren wrong and then what happened with those two tonight yeah uh he did he he hit a couple early and then um you know they

Were they were kind of top blocking him keen on him they started blitzing him this is ant we’re talking about then they started blitzing him getting the ball out of his hands and know uh he made the proper play and we just couldn’t capitalize four on three on the

Backside and they had some success with it so they kept it going as they should have um and nobody was able really able to get it going Jeremy started going a little um and then I thought Shay um you know just just I got to get him to be a

Little more aggressive man you know especially in times like this when we’re struggling to really score um he has to be aggressive to try to get there you know and make plays and just a part of his development did they catch you guys off guard a little bit

With thece looked like they were releasing Rand sometimes yeah try to R guys not the way they always play you know it’s funny um I was telling our guys all day today I said the numbers tell you that they’re like 27th in the league and transition and

This and that whatever but me watching their last four or five games I’m telling you my odd they are playing fast as heck they really are kicking ball up they’re playing fast so we’re going to go with my eyes so I can’t say that they

Caught us off guard cuz we you know we try to prepare our team for it um but they just did a really good job of it to be honest still got two games left how would you how would you kind of sum up this road trip thus

Far um I mean shoot it’s been a tough road trip I mean I don’t think you can sum it up any other way had a great game in Brooklyn um I thought we fought fought really hard Y and Phoenix both Dallas games I was disappointed in in both games you know

Obviously they they look the second Dallas game at least look like this one um so it’s it hasn’t been a good trip you know in my opinion but we got two more games left against some really good teams um and a chance to to to try to play better you guys were playing

Consistently better seemed like when and sharp were starting together is there any idea of going back to that at all um I’ll be thinking about it over the next few days few games you know um I think this year as I kind of share with

Y’all is you know I’ll be trying a lot of different stuff you know so um that’s on the table as well as you know a few other things too

  1. Cronin and Billups building a culture of winning and success here in Portland. What a dynamic duo of buffoonery and clownery 🀑

  2. How is Shaedon supposed to be more aggressive, if the starters take 95% of the shots when he's in the game? That just doesn't make any sense at all.

  3. These Billups press conferences are like ground hog day – what an embarrassment. Thibodeau just owning Chauncey on both ends of the floor.

  4. Billups keeps bringing up Phoenix like it was an epic battle. The Blazers got hammered by the Suns, went down 30, and Coach cleared the bench for the entire 4th. Is he thinking about a different Phoenix game?

  5. This guys a bum, he expects things to change without actively doing shit about it. He's dogging Sharpe's potential.

  6. Good old Jerami Grant. 28 minutes. 2 Rebounds. Which is fine if you're winning 66% of your games and you usually outrebound your opponent.
Good guy. Good scorer. Great guy to bring off the bench if you're a contender. Bad fit on our team if he's a starting "Power" Forward.

  7. They have to get the next draft pick right and hopefully someone wants a forward like grant who just isn't tough enough under the boards

  8. Im scared of sharpe jus checking out completely and not developing as he should be. Billups needs to go after this season, biggest move needed at this point

  9. Don't need to trade Ant. He will ask to be traded, if he has his head on straight. He's too good to go down the Dame path and isn't in his first year getting his feet wet anymore with the winningest coach in NBA history who has patience to build the pieces around a generational talent. Ant man, I love you. DO THE RIGHT THING. GTFO at the trade deadline before Cronin turns you into Dame 2.0. Then CB can make comments that make sense about whether Sharpe is being aggressive enough in a big boy league. I wish all the NBA coaches would quit with the "he ain't ready yet" narrative. Give Shae some slack on his leash and find out. Y'all gotta decide when full tank mode is on anyhow. On the brighter side – we have a better record than the Spurs so put that in your pipe and smoke it Pops!

  10. This is what a team looks like that a coach openly says β€œoffense is cute and all but that’s not our identity”. Like in what world do you have kids with sky high offensive potential do you say nah we don’t wanna he known as scorers just defensive skills….which once again have fallen off a cliff cause he’s completely clueless in how to adjust schemes so other coaches dismantle him after 20-30 games into the season. He’s sooooo lucky blazers ownership is as incompetent as he is with zero interest in what’s best for the team cause he’d be fired on any competent team and just like Stotts will never get another head coaching job once he’s eventually fired when the team sells finally.

  11. Yall idiots in this comment section need to understand we are so injured that these young players are still trying to figure things out and Billups have to give them so many diffrent roles these players are still adjusting and they need someone to come out with heart and we dont really got no one to be our DOG so we can have that spark

  12. It’s time for Sharpe to be the number 1 option. Afernee needs to be the immediate number 2 option. He a great catch and shoot scorer, but Shaedon being the number one would collapse the defense inward, because he drive more than ant does. This would allow ant to have the easy three.
