Work but I remember the first couple of weeks of school after coming back from winter break every year you kept writing the previous year down on every paper do you run into that issue at work I luckily don’t but I have to check myself every time we get ready to record when

We enter the new year I I so I had a I was at a doctor’s appointment a couple days ago got the old 2023 on there had to mark it out put 2024 so they it gets me whenever I have to write it I don’t I

Don’t have to do it much at work thankfully everything with the computer is you know got dates on it and whatever and you don’t have to do a whole lot of that so yeah it’s it’s mainly like just filling out paperwork at doctor’s offices and and all that fun stuff now

My my New Year’s question for you it’s a popular one at what point do you stop telling people happy New Year what’s the cut off I’m pretty much there today I said it a couple of times today I’m pretty much I I feel like I’m done with

That now yeah I usually don’t say like Oh by the 10th I have to be done I just it’s a feel thing for me like today I was like oh we’re we’re really pushing it right now I’m probably done with this yeah people at this point don’t even

Remember what they did for New Year’s Eve we’re we’re getting to that point just yeah I I do it at work sometimes just like is a just a kind thing if I need something to say when I’m saying bye to them or whatever you know what I

Mean I I talk with a lot of people every day so it’s usually the uh the outro for the uh the end of the conversation so yeah I’m always interested where’s the cut off who made it I don’t know think some people might still be saying it

Till the end of January I don’t know they’re out there I got into the the point today where I’m like scheduling like work with clients for next week and we’re scheduling stuff for like January 19th already like man how are we already like scheduling stuff for January 19th

Like 2024 just slow your role a little bit would you yeah Magic season doesn’t help that either makes it Fly by good grief yeah we’re you what is it 27 or 37 games in we we’re four games like this time next week we’ll be at the halfway

Point of the Season like I was talking to Kevin about this before you joined and before we started recording that last year felt like it took forever like especially with the 5 and 20 start mhm this season is just flying by it feels like we started the season like a month

Ago maybe six weeks at the most and here we are it’s already halfway now the regular season is Halfway Gone our season is not halfway done because we’re going to have extra basketball after those 82 games but it’s crazy that the regular season like we’re already halfway there pretty much losing makes

Things drag by that’s for sure and when the team’s good it just you want to relish the game hold on to it and you can’t because the next day two days later we’re past it we’re moving forward yeah it flies by when you’re winning that’s for sure it

Definitely is folks uh this last week or what was that Tuesday we were supposed to have a recording of the six fan show after the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves we kind of got blessed because it probably would not have been that great of an episode because the

Magic got absolutely smashed uh 113 and 92 which I mean you could argue the game wasn’t even that close we’ll talk more about that in a little bit but with all of the like if you live on the eastern coast or the eastern part of the United

States you got some version of the storm that we all got on Tuesday one of the biggest storms that I’ve ever seen in my you know entire life and Ben is not allowed to be struck by lightning so we weren’t going to put him out there in the rain lightning with you know

Electrical equipment and you know all that kind of stuff for him to suffer out there so we’re going to reschedule that one we don’t know when just yet but the next one is going to be I was just talking about this Friday the 19th when the magic take on the Philadelphia 76ers

At home so if you’re attending that game even if you’re not attending the game like if you’re downtown watching the game at a bar and after the game you want to head over to to Kia I almost said kiway you want to head over to Kia

Found I found what I’ve been looking for I didn’t know I was looking for it but I found it the grilled cheeseburger it’s a burger uh the burger bacon caramelized onion served in a sourdough bread grilled cheese sandwich I don’t even know how that works do you think it the top and the

Bottom yeah like a grilled cheese sandwich on the top and grilled cheese sandwich the bottom sounds so ridiculous but it sounds awesome that and um that one and I’ll be choosing between that in The Hangover Burger because it has egg on it I don’t even need to look at the

Description I know it’s got eggs on it need to have eggs on it I’m a big sucker for the eggs on Burgers what about you so I wherever we go we have a bad habit of like oh we have to get an appetizer because we’re there we’re hungry we want

To get something before the entree comes out we want to try something like there’s Banger after Banger on the appetizers first of all this may seem like a generic sort of mid pick I love a good mozzarella stick it’s not hard to to have a good mozzarella stick even the

Decent ones are good as long as they’re not terrible I’m fine with it they have potato skins they have the boxy potato cakes which I’m not really sure what boxy means but potato pancakes to with cheddar cheese sauce steak tips caramelized onions and green scallions I love green scallions I love caramelized

Onions uh a good steak tip is always a a good one as well onion rings thick cut beer battered onion rings served with a Chipotle aoli I love a good aoli uh breaded pickles so like your your hand breed pickle chips with uh with ranch Bavarian pretzel always a good time with

Deli mustard and a cheddar cheese sauce I wish that it was like a beer cheese sauce I’m a big beer cheese guy when it comes to you know big Bavarian you know hot soft pretzels uh the dynamite shrimp my guess is this is like the the boom boom shrimp or the

The Wang Bang Shrimp uh as we talked about at the last watch party this one right here Luke I’m really intrigued with the Irish nachos kettle chips shepherd’s pie beef cheddar cheese sauce diced tomato sour cream and green onions I’m a big nachos guy and I’m very intrigued by the shepherd’s pie beef

Element to the Irish nachos here here I first of all I agree I don’t think I’ve had any objections to whatever you’re saying but I’m looking at the buffalo chicken dip a little bit oh for sure it’s a pulled chicken and a cream cheese sour cream uh honestly my vision is way too

Bad for this right now in the menu I can’t figure out how to sour cream and housemade ranch so you get sour cream and ranch with it and pea and kettle chips with it so you kind of choose how you want to dip yeah that’s a problem uh

The grilled steak wrap I’m sure is amazing fried chicken sandwich they got everything it truly is a a Good Old Pub for sure they got they got a little bit of everything where I want to go is you’ve already talked a little bit about the burgers but the hangover Burger the

Bacon egg American cheese on the butter Brio roll you’ve already talked about the the grilled cheeseburger they have what is called the Irish pounder two half PB patties cheddar cheese four slices of applewood bacon iceberg lettuce tomato on a buttered Brio roll like if you have the grilled

Tuesday they currently sit eighth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 21 and 16 they are now seven and a half games back of first place Boston four games back of Second Place Milwaukee three games back of Third Place Philadelphia they’re one game back of

New York they’re a half game back of Miami Indiana and Cleveland and they’re four and a half games up on Chicago five games up on Brooklyn six games up on Toronto and Atlanta magic have now gone five and five in their last 10 Luke and with all the injuries everything that

We’ve been dealing with the fact that we’re still four and a half games up on Chicago five games up on Brooklyn six games up on Toronto and Atlanta is a testament to how you know solid the magic have been but also a testament just like how not good those teams

Really are so something to keep an eye on there the magic are now 22nd in the NBA this season in offensive rating with a rating of 11 12.7 they are fourth in the NBA in defensive rating still with a rating of 112. two and or 111.2 and they

Are 14th in net rating with a rating of 1.5 taking a look at the injury report Marquel folz finally returned from injury this week after missing a ton of games Joe Engles has now missed the last 13 games with a sprained left ankle Jonathan Isaac has missed the past nine

Games with the sore hamstring Gary Harris has missed the past three games with the calf strain Wendell Carter Jr has missed the last three games with n tendonitis fron Vagner has missed the past three games with an ankle sprain Cole Anthony left Tuesday’s game early

With that s issue that he’s got going on so that’ll be something to pay attention to we’ll see if we we see Cole Thursday night or Friday night rather Jonathan Isaac’s $17.4 million also became fully guaranteed on Wednesday saw you know the the the Tweet

Go out from our our guy fison and and sort of mixed reactions to that some people are like oh my gosh I can’t believe we’re doing this the only alternative to that was waving him which at this point in the season doesn’t make any sense whatsoever I I think he’s

Missed like 17 games on the year so far uh somewhere around there if I’m I’m not mistaken if he still ends up playing around you know 45 to 50ish games and can give you a healthy playoff series still very much worth having that guy on

The roster because he is that level of a Difference Maker and then next year is not guaranteed so the magic could wave Jonathan Isaac after this season so that’ll be uh you know pretty interesting to to see how plays out he goes into the season not guaranteed the magic could partially guarantee that

Contract going into next season and then next year on January 10th if he’s still on the roster that’s when uh the the rest of you know that that final year of the $17.4 million uh would be fully guaranteed and then Jonathan Isaac would be a unrestricted free agent after next year

So Luke um do you have any strong feelings about the the magic fully guaranteeing you know or not waving Jonathan Isaac I should say in his uh contract becoming fully guaranteed for this year of course not it was it was a no-brainer you’re not going to wave the

Guy like not at this point you’re going to exercise the option there’s you know you still got more than half the season left let’s see him come back he’s super impactful when he is playing it’s worth seeing if when he does come back can he stay back this is just a

Common thing with Jonathan Isaac but this is really the the time to tell if he comes back soonish and doesn’t miss another game besides maybe one here and there and you’re like okay we can depend on this guy I could see the magic you know not waving at

All and uh and hold on to him I I think that it’s just too much of a you know win-win at that point you control a lot of this and you’re able to make that decision uh you’ve got to give them time

The rest of it up now 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 so he’s missed 15 games this year and the magic are 14- seven with Jonathan Isaac in the lineup and like quite a few of those games you

Know he didn’t you know play a ton of minutes so definitely super impactful worth keeping him on the roster you know has missed you know 15 16 games whatever I just said it is so far we’re almost halfway through the season season so we’ve got four more games here if he’s

Able to make it back in the next couple of games and even if he ends up missing 30 games or 32 games this year and again is able to give you 50 games and you’re winning 60% of those like what’s 60% of of 50 is that 30 35 games somewhere

Around in there like if you’re going 30 and 20 or 30 and 15 with a guy in the lineup I mean count me in and then you know obviously it’s going to be a big deal whether or not he’s able to play a whole playoff series but that’s all uh

You know remains to be seen but people that were sort of freaking out about that I don’t think it’s as big of a deal as as people think regarding the uh with fron vogner being out did you catch it on the broadcast I saw someone say it on

Twitter ad Papa Georgio I I did not catch it I was probably just watching them get blown out but I guess Jeff Turner according to Adam because again I I didn’t hear it but I I trust Adam he pays close attention to the games according to Jeff Turner according to

Adam Jeff Turner said fron may be back at some point like on the upcoming road trip and like maybe Jeff knows something maybe he doesn’t I don’t know but fron is also just like Wolverine has always healed really quickly you know from injuries so if he only ends up missing

You know six or seven games from this I wouldn’t be totally shocked and I’m hopeful and optimistic that he will come back in you know the near future cuz you know we need that guy it’s the same thing I mean he sprained his ankle as

Well over the summer I believe in in the FBA um cup and everything the World Cup but uh I don’t even remember how long he was out I want to say he was out for like he missed like four games yeah so like week and a half two weeks that

Sound right but hopefully hopefully that’s the case maybe not even that long I honestly don’t remember yeah now we’re going to talk about this Timberwolves game the only game that the magic have have played since we last recorded and this one I mean I I hate

The notion of like oh just like throwing a game away because I feel like there are things that you can take from every game but this legitimately may have been the Magic’s worst performance of the season they lose 113 and 92 but Minnesota’s biggest lead in this

One was 34 points and the magic just you know came out pretty flat I believe Minnesota started the game on like an 11 to nothing run then the the magic go on a little bit of a run themselves to get back into the game and then Minnesota

Really just like blew the doors off the magic uh interior defense for sure uh closing out on Carl Anthony towns he had a ton of Threes in this game uh let’s see yeah five of five from behind the AR from Carl Anthony towns really really impressive but the magic

Gave 36 points in the paint up in the first half and 60 points in the paint for the game all just scoring 38 themselves the effort in the defense just wasn’t there from the opening tip magic were trying to make up ground from behind the arc they’ve been shooting the

Ball really really well didn’t shoot the ball well in this one 13 for 42 good for 31% they shot 30 6% for the entire game um not exactly half but not too far away from half of all of their attempts coming from behind the arc and then they

Were 11 of 18 from the free throw line so just could not buy a bucket no matter what and you go up against the number one team in the west Rudy gobear Carl Anthony towns especially just had their way with the magic and then like their role players played really well Jaden

McDaniels with 15 Conley and Kyle Anderson both both with 11 Anthony Edwards scored six points in this game where the magic lose by 21 and we’re down by 34 at one point so just magic got absolutely smacked the effort certainly could have been better the defense could have been better but with

As many guys and as many difference makers as we’re missing right now I I don’t like this this loss wasn’t a huge deal to me it’s pretty much like look effort wasn’t great defense could be better probably can’t keep keep relying on three-point shooting I don’t know

That anybody is surprised by that Luke but I didn’t come away from this game like super upset by any means yeah I listen like you said shooting comes back down to earth and this team just simply isn’t isn’t really built with the injuries to to hang with the team like the Timberwolves

Right I’ll bring the term back Jonathan it’s back and it happened to the magic against the Timberwolves the magic simply got out talented Ted Timberwolves are a great team nothing to hang your head about first in the west you lose this game in the first quarter game’s over Timber smell

Blood Road wins Road game’s pretty easy to get up for I would imagine you’re not you know comfortable at home whatever you flew all this way let’s win the game they blow the doors off the magic and listen people can say like oh well we looked good in the second half or the

Magic tried to make up ground in the second half the Timberwolves didn’t even care about the game in the second half like sure they started coming back but you can’t tell me the Timberwolves weren’t just relaxed and didn’t really care that much at that point cuz they were up 30 at halftime

Right like Jaylen suck said at this postgame press conference he took the stats crumpled it up and said we’re going to throw this one away forget about it move on it doesn’t mean much because of the injuries right but for what it’s worth Jaylen Suggs M Vagner did uh did well right granted

Nobody had a good first half but at least they tried in the second half like they were they were part of the reason the magic were back in the game uh not back in the game by any means that was mis Miss misspoken but well we

We we a couple of times in the second half like we got it like pretty close to 20 but like just could not break no like genuinely like if if the being down 34 if you get it underneath 20 like early early in the fourth quarter like they

Almost had the lead to 20 and at that point you’re like okay we’ve got nine minutes left or whatever it is and if you can make a run and you can make it a 13-point game with seven minutes left or six minutes left you’re most likely

Going to lose but at least you can talk yourself into having a chance but they just could never get over that hump and to your credit Jaylen and mo were the only guys that showed up in this game at all and and first half aside like when

You look at their numbers for the game they had good games I I keep waiting for that Jaylen Suggs three-pointer dip shoots eight of them last night and makes four I just I don’t care what the context is this kid you you know how many games he shot 50% from three

Especially on eight attempts last year zero not much if at all and the season before that I guarantee you it didn’t happen I’mma look it up keep talking yeah so jayen tugs man what what else can you can you say about him I mean we

Had the stat were you w to bring that up in the next segment Jonathan or you want to bring means go ahead I’m looking this up right now so Orlando Magic PR I believe it was let’s see I’m also looking things up let’s see I’m going to look at Jaylen

Sugs had one game last year where he shot at least eight threes and shot 50% his best shooting games last year he had a five for nine performance against the Cavs late in the year and then he had a five for 11 performance against Minnesota last year so he likes playing

Minnesota I mean I think that’s well documented at this point obviously because of where he’s from but yeah I mean last couple of uh you know last week or so we’ve had two of jaylen’s best shooting performances of his career he’s Jaylen Suggs Orlando Magic PR put

This out this morning has made four plus three-pointers and four straight games from January 3rd till now Suggs became only the fifth player in Orlando Magic history to make four plus threes and four plus consecutive games joining Dennis Scott jir Nelson Terence Ross and Nick Anderson it’s a pretty good group

Jonathan they I say a shooting group Shooters team that could shoot that thing and jayen Suggs just became one of five people in franchise history to do it that’s a I can’t believe it but he’s literally the shooting that this team needs I can’t believe I’m saying

That but he is I I’ll never get over it I don’t think judging by what we saw and 58% during that stretch it’s just crazy to me yeah to do it to not just make four plus threes but shoot that high of a percentage that’s what I should have done I should have

Freaking found these stretches from these players and see what they shot percentage wise but I mean that’s regardless that is that’s pretty crazy going back to may like as early as May a lot of people were saying it but you and I were saying it on the show like going

Into next season going into this season that Jaylen Suggs should be the starting shooting guard so long as he can shoot you know League average 35 36% from three I’m not I’m not saying we’re psychic but and I don’t I’m not even going to say that I saw this coming I

Knew it I knew it was possible I knew that he had had the chance to make an improvement but we’re talking so far you know what is 37 games through the season and he’s he’s at 40% like that’s a a 9% Improvement in one year after making a

You know 9% improvement from his rookie year to his sophomore year that’s crazy like shooting development over the course of two seasons from the kid yeah putting a lot the guy I know some people don’t like when I say kid the guy die yeah whatever um whatever the uh yeah I everyone talks

About it they say Suggs has put in the work they’re not surprised by it but it regardless of like how much work is being put in it is still it’s ridiculously impressive that this is like these are the fruits right I mean to have the jumps that he’s having and what’s the

Dude want to do shoot 49% from three next year I he just he’s awesome and it’s just going to continue to be more after this year I would say right now he’s at 40% right I don’t know I kind of conservative guess would be that he ends

The year like 37 a half% 37% maybe I’m good with that and then the next step is just even more volume which is crazy to say but I think he can do don’t let him hear you say that yeah I know he does on he’s shooting 5 threes a game right

Now but I I think if he is shooting 37 and a half 38% he puts in the same amount of work that he’s been putting in no reason he can’t shoot the same percentage next year on a couple more temps of game I don’t know but Jaylen

Suggs is just a monster see I think the next Improvement in his game is the The Cutting and the slashing and the finishing at The Rim which the three-point shooting across the board not only Jaylen but across the roster will help improve the games where Jaylen

Like out of the gates is getting to the rim is when I feel like our offense like gets off to the best start and really starts flowing like some of the best performances of the year have come off the back of like Jaylen just getting downhill and getting a couple of you

Know either you know Coast to co Coast to Coast layup finishes or like just cutting to the basket and getting open early in the game but yeah the improvement from Jaylen has been incredible and then we talked about it but Mo Vagner 21 points eight rebounds

Two assists two steals six of nine one of four from behind the arc eight of 11 at the free throw line those guys were really like pretty much the the only bright spots in the game Pao got it going in the second half had 11 points

Shot five of nine from the floor uh but ended up what was it eight of 22 18 points two rebounds three assists three Steals and a block the dude is 21 years old and uh you know still in his second season I’m has been carrying the team

Like the last week with frond out I’m not about to sit here and like be overly critical about one not so great game from Pao when everybody across the board except for Jaylen and mo were bad and you’re playing one of the best teams in the league and a team by the

Way who were on the first night of a backtack they’re playing in Boston tonight so when they’re looking at that back toback they’re like we absolutely have to get the first leg of that back toback because after that we’re going to Boston and now they’re actually going to

Overtime with Boston as we speak so they definitely went into last night’s game in Orlando thinking we have to get this win here’s another thing another fun stat to look keep seeing if this continues to be the trend if the injury report stays the same and this player

Gets the same run or maybe if adjustments happen we’ll know know that this is why in terms of rotation with him the last two games chumo KK is two of 15 from the field he is shooting 133% in the last two games listen he was awesome in the Sacramento

Game he’s he’s back to normal we don’t have the city here in bash chuma if you’ve been watching this team for long enough you probably should know at this point what chuma okk is I don’t want to sit here and have a chuma okk discussion because I

Don’t think it warranted he was awesome in the Sacramento game now he’s back to normal the guy won’t be seeing the floor when everybody’s healthy yeah well he took 10 shots against the Timberwolves um but regardless I say that to say I am interested to see how it’s handled if

Mosley feels like he has any other option specifically in the starting lineup uh moving forward I don’t know what that would look like because he doesn’t have many op options but we’ll see I just hope that we are healthy soon and I don’t have to find out I think

With the the current level of injuries that we have the defense that chuma gives you is is solid he is a plus Defender but you just you can’t rely on him offensively and he he’s he’s going to start probably out of necessity until you know we either get Gary back or Joe

Back or fron back yeah or ji which would be would be great I would love to see I mean even if he comes back they probably you know won’t put him in the starting lineup but I I would like to see that over over chuma at least

We’ve been talking about this December January stretch literally since the schedule came out in August and we talked about leading up to it and we’re we’re a little bit past like the the halfway point of that stretch so we’re also going to talk about like how the

Magic are fairing through that so far and then sort of like what is left in that that stretch Luke I know you have some numbers for us on this last four game stretch so I will throw it to you so really that’s it’s it’s just looking at big picture on the generalization of

This right so like offensive rating the last four games we talk about just like how great we’ve been shooting from three obviously your performance against the Timberwolves makes that four game sample size take a hit but in the last four games around the league you are 24th and off def rating

11.7 defensive rating whereas normally you are third right now is I believe where we’re sitting at overall last four games you are 13th at 11 15.3 just the in general the defense has taken a hit too like deflections per game just like the hustle stats are down and you’re

Down a few spots in these last four games compared to where this team normally is plus the lackluster you know puzzle stat that you’ve been not getting in the last few games is impacting that overall deflections per game things like that so where you would normally be

Higher I want to say that we’re like seventh or eighth in deflections per game overall and then in the last four games we had we’re like sitting at 13th or 14th which just tells me that you were a little bit higher like we were higher in flections per game before this four game

Stretch unfortunately so yeah just just a good reminder that when this team is fully healthy I just have seen a lot of really quite honestly irresponsible discourse since the injuries have happened about certain players and like who um I’ve seen one in particular fron Vagner uh that one floating around just

That just this team could be better without just the trolls really on Twitter you know what I mean yeah that’s not shot in the world just just the king and queens of recency bias irresponsible I think is the best way to describe that yeah but it but you just know like if

That discourse is happening I’ve seen everything else under the sun too from that standpoint right like whatever it might be we there’s ones that warrant it and there’s been a lot of bright spots from this four game stretch one of them being Caleb Houston really showing that he deserves minutes because he provides

Such a vital part to this team and shooting you so desperately need welman’s talked about this coach Mosley’s talked about this and they’ve said the things pretty much said things like we also have shooting here we have shooters that are developing players developing that we think can get there and be the shooters

That the magic current roster construction needs and that’s another good thing we found in this four game stretch and Caleb Houston but yeah regardless the end of the day I’m interested to see what tweaks Mosley can make based on this four game stretch and however long this injury bug lasts but

I’m also ready to become healthy again because we desperately need it and our team is just shocker but this team is so much better when healthy and I I think that now that the little Cinderella run that we had feels somewhat over after that Minnesota blowout come back down to

Earth a little bit I think everybody can can understand the the drop that’s happened yeah when you look at the injury report and we like we’re talking about getting guys back like we know that the second unit has really been strug offensively without Joe Eng Les

He’s missed the last 13 games now with a sprained left ankle that injury occurred December 11th so he’s been out a month now with the sprained left ankle part of it you know we talked about this earlier in the season like if the Magik are Treading Water don’t bring

A guy back if he’s 85 90 95% like if you can survive wait till the guy is 100% to come back you have to feel like J uh Joe Ang is close to coming back from that ankle injury Jonathan Isaac has been out nine games with a sore

Hamstring you’ve got to think that that guy is close to coming back as well Gary Harris who knows like with the calf strain it like this it happened then it like Rio C’s been in and out of the lineup same with Wendell been in and out

Of the lineup and then fron you would assume that once fron is back if that’s a week from now or two weeks from now or however long that takes you would assume once he’s back like he’ll really be back so it feels like we’re not that far from

Being healthy again but I mean how many times have have have we felt that you know a big thing coming into the season was hey like this team just needs to be fully healthy and this game this team was fully healthy for all of like the first four games and since then guys

Have been in and out of the lineup and I mean to a a certain extent you might have benefited like I I I think especially offensively with marel not being in the lineup like I I I think that was a real turning point for this team really for

Like pao’s development like Pao has just taken off since he’s got more comfortable in this new like offensive role and really running everything through him I don’t know that this team gets to the 13 and five 14 and five start with the way that the team was

Looking the first few games and the way that the offense was looking the first few games so again that was a super small sample size but at some point we should see this team fully healthy this year and that’s what I’m going to be most interested to

See is what happens with Anthony black what happens with Goa bad and mo Vagner and Caleb Houston and all these guys who have like really contributed at high levels this year yeah I’m I’m very interested to see how that all plays out I I think some people will be very happy maybe with

Rotation adjustments or lack thereof some people definitely will feel the opposite I think it’s like a real 50/50 like even if you’re feel if you’re on opposite ends of the marel conversation like you got a 50-50 shot like every every one of these guys I think is like

A 50-50 shot like how involved they’re going to be when they come back like it it there’s just not really uh I I don’t know really how to evaluate that currently but I wanted to take a couple of minutes to talk about this this stretch that we’re in so again we

Started talking about this when the schedule first came out so I’m talking about the stretch that started Wednesday December 6th at Cleveland for the magic uh the stretch that started then and really R runs all the way through uh Monday January 29th we’re in that stretch it’s 29 games and all of but

Let’s see one two three four five six all but all but six of those game like yeah all but six of those games are against playoff teams and it it it just a brutal stretch it was always going to be a Brut brutal stretch and it was

Going to be a a big Benchmark for this season to see are the magic actually good how good are they going to be once they come out of that stretch so far we’re 17 games in we have 12 games left or I’m sorry 20 26 games not 29 game

Stretch 26 games we’re 17 games through so yeah all but six in that 26 game uh stretch there I’m completely butchering this segment by the way but we’re 17 games through so far the magic are seven and 10 in that in those 17 games in the last 17 games they’re 24th in offensive

Rating a lot of this is you know coming without key guys obviously they’re eighth in defensive rating and 22nd in net rating who’s missed time during this stretch marquel’s missed 15 games of those 17 Joe England has missed 13 games Wendell has missed nine games Gary has

Missed five games France has missed four games Jaylen has missed three games Cole ab and Goa all have missed one game so you’re you’re seven and 10 which you know you’re you’re just a couple of games below 500 there and you’ve missed time from a lot of key contributors Luke

And when you look at this 16 game or yeah 17 game stretch going back to Cleveland for the most part you’ve won the games that you should win and you’ve lost the games that you should lose so you start you have a loss to Cleveland you beat Detroit you beat Cleveland so

You have like a you know sort of many inseason series that split up by the Detroit game but you split that with them you lose both games in Boston okay you lose to Miami that one I think you know was pretty you know 50/50 you lose to Milwaukee you beat Indiana you beat

Beat Washington you lose to Philadelphia you beat New York you lose to Phoenix you lose to Golden State you barely lose to Sacramento that game should never have even made it to second overtime the magic were robbed in that game but you beat Denver you shouldn’t have beat

Denver you beat Atlanta and then you lose to Minnesota like the schedule and the the the wins and losses have pretty much come where they should during that stretch and now you’ve got nine games left of this stretch uh you’re at Miami at OKC at New York at Atlanta home for

Philadelphia home for Miami home for Cleveland you’re at Memphis you’re home for Phoenix and then you’re at Dallas and then this is done and you you still got a tough you know nine games here but if the magic can go four and five during that stretch and end up 11 and

15 in in those 26 games I think we’d all take that and you’ll still be above five 00 at that time and then the schedule really starts to to lighten up but yeah so let’s talk about that stretch the one that starts on Friday and will end against the Spurs the 31st

And San Antonio you’ve got two of those games of those nine that are the second night of a back toback okay so you’ve got that OKC game on the 13th this Saturday I’ll call it a loss right then you’ve got the uh Mavericks game the January 29th in Dallas right

After you host the Phoenix Suns at home you also have the 21st and 22nd Miami and Cleveland at home oh you’re so right so three of those nine a third of the games are are going to be on the second night of a back toback so those are rough let’s say we

Count all of those back Tob backs as losses I’m going to say the January 15th game against the Knicks they’re they’re in the honeymoon phase with OG in an Obi and they haven’t lost and the plus minuses are nuts for OG the net rating is nuts they’ve looked

Good I don’t know that you win that game the wins that I’m giving the magic slightly out of optimism but also out of like these are the ones you’re going to have to have at Miami this Friday I I want to see this team win that game I’ll put that out as

A win you go to the Hawks January 17th they’re 5- n at home win that game so that’s two wins there you play Miami again you’re coming off a day’s rest January 21st I also don’t know what their rest advantage or disadvantage looks like on that one hopefully they’re

Coming off a back toback but January 21st Miami a little bit of hopefulness once again hosting them you win that one they’ll be they’ll be in they’ll be in Orlando the day before they play Atlanta that Friday so at home so they’ll be no no Advantage there for either team

Hopefully the advantage for the magic is that we have healthier players January 26 you’re at Memphis I’ll give that a win I’ll give that Cleveland game a loss that second night of a back to back after the Miami game uh vers the Suns at home I just

Gave it a loss even though the suns are five and five in their last 10 we’ll see hopefully we can win that one we’ll see at the Mavericks January 29th second night of a back toback got it as a loss and Spurs the 31st of

January I have that as a win in San Antonio because well it’s the Spurs uh that’s five and four and N I didn’t count I didn’t count the the Spurs in that stretch but okay so that yeah so I the end of that comes out to five and

Four I believe uh um let’s see or five and five I did 10 games I believe so if that’s the case your record would be 26 and 23 at the end of January which you take that that’s what we’ve been saying like this entire time is if you can get to

The end of January above 500 like the the schedule really lightens up and the magic have the opportunity to to make a run and and put your wins together in the second half of the Season as it is right now you know when you calculate opponent win percentage of remaining

Games the magic have the easiest strength to schedule in the league now how much does that really matter I think we’re going to find out but like if you just take a look at the schedule the magic have like plenty of winnable stretches of games like when we look

Detroit Atlanta Brooklyn Utah Detroit Charlotte Washington like if the magic on a what is that aeven seven game win streak there like that would not be shocking whatsoever and then Indiana Brooklyn Toronto Toronto Charlotte like that is going to be another winnable stretch there uh Memphis Portland New Orleans Charlotte Chicago Houston

Another stretch of really winnable games like you’re talking about you know three uh stretches uh down the stretch of down the end of the season of six plus game like three six plus game winnable stretches is there where like you could easily see the magic winning all of

Those games like on paper obviously so if we do that you’re you’re looking at another 18 wins on top of if we’re you know 25 and whatever at that point not you’re not going to win all those games necessarily but like we’re we’re getting into the territory where you know 40

Plus wins is becoming more and more likely yeah I would say venture to say even more than 40 plus like the rate you’re already at if you went five and five in your next 10 or whatever five and four whatever might be plus whatever I mean I that’s what I’m saying I think

That at the point this like even if you have a bad stretch through the end of January you go under 500 by a game or you go 500 you’re still over 500 in total and I I really do think that probably at the end of January if that

Happens the magic could find themselves in the seventh or eighth spot and from that point moving forward the rest of the season I I think that this team can jump two or three seeds I think I’m ready to say like the ceiling absolute ceiling for this team this season is the five

Seed because like I said the the Knicks seemingly have gotten better the Pacers are on a tear they’re 8-2 and their last 10 though I mean yeah last year they completely fell apart around this time without how Burton right and that’s where that comes into play I think the

Knicks who are tied right now with the Pacers will jump them become the four seed kind of cement themselves separate themselves from the rest of the group and you know try to cling on to the top other three but then you’re looking at the magic with the six and the five spot

That are going to be up for grabs so the magic just hold on for dear life here at the end of January like we’ve been saying if you find yourself in eighth I think you can finish at six or five still six probably more likely but that’s great news for magic fans

Everybody should be excited about that that you and I Jonathan aren’t talking about how the magic are sitting at 10th or 11th or 12th right now and hopefully we can just get a playin spot is there a world where the magic make the make the play in sure

Absolutely but is there optimism that the team could be a succeed definitely that would be awesome and uh all we want is that playoff experience and I think that think we’re going to get it we’re approaching the point where like it’s more likely than not that the magic avoid the playing all together

Like they don’t finish S 8 9 10 in the East you know if they finish six or higher they avoid the playing all together right like this time next month I I I think we’re we’re going to be able to you know because yeah this

Time next month we’ll be coming off of a stretch where we played Detroit Miami San Antonio Chicago that’ll be uh really right before the the TNT game where we’ll be at and Sha’s Jersey will be retired and everything like that so around that time we’ll have a really

Good idea of like what kind of shot did the magic have to make a run at you know stealing a couple of seeds in the Eastern Conference over the last you know seven eight weeks of the season I I can’t wait man we talked about it this

Season is just like flying by and it’s just like man if you can steal a couple over the course of the the next couple of weeks here as you close out January if you can get guys back like in a hurry like in the next week or so if

Like Joe Wendell Gary fron all come back I I don’t know maybe maybe you can go six and four over the the stretch of the the next 10 games it’s going to be tough but I don’t think it’s impossible if we can get some guys back and and

Really get back into a flow here but this is what we’ve been talking about since August so the last five months just survived January and if you’re at or above 500 the magic are going to be primed to make a real run at the playoffs and throughout the rest of the

Season yeah and just so everybody has a a pulse on it January 4th uh let’s see the lines.com put out you know postseason chances um there’s a few different Outlets DraftKings had the magic minus 390 to make the playoffs so that’s not just talking play in that is talking like the actual

Postseason so great chance thereus 390 minus 345 on BET River Verse got to feel good about it at this point and um you just hope this team gets healthy stays healthy story of our lives and we we get to host some playoff games let’s do it all right man I really botched that segment it wasn’t even 20 it’s not even

26 games or whatever I said it’s 27 games and I was like oh these last nine games and then it’s 10 games so math never been my strong suit I I dude I sat here before before we started recording counted everything somehow miscounted what an absolute disaster but let’s go
