I still have faith! he def looked like he was in his head last night, with his offense and his reaction to refs.

He’s also only 23. He’s a top three defender in the league right now. And he has efficient offensive games (eg Orlando, Houston) and terrible ones (eg Dallas, Boston). When he’s efficient, we’re basically unbeatable. Rather than trying to find ways to cut ties or trade him, shouldn’t we be figuring out how he has those efficient games?!? I get being frustrated when he has an off night, but I’m pretty sick of the hate he is getting. He is literally the key to a deep playoff run for this team. Let’s get behind him and let this kid figure it out!

  3. Anyone bailing on him after 27 games needs to get a grip

I can’t imagine how people would even consider giving up on Jaden. Dudes been hurt and in a bit of a shooting rut at times this year. He will be fine

The biggest issue is foul trouble. He’s elite when he can stay on the floor but he’s currently tied for 4th in fouls per game. He was also 4th last year and 7th the year before.

Most of the time it’s dumb fouls that he’s committing too. It’s a touch foul 20+ feet from the basket, fouling a jump shooter, or just pushing someone during a rebound.

It’s been 4 years now, he needs to learn to play smarter.

Last night Tatum scored 33 points in the 2nd half + OT because McDaniels was in foul trouble and only played 10 of those 29 minutes.

When is our opponents best defenders ever in trouble?

He just needs to relax, slumps happen all the time, and it’ll pass. Noticably he’s in his own head, he’s more emotional which could be good but with him often leads to him committing unnecessary ticky-tac fouls. Basketball is a game of runs, it’ll come, he just needs to do the little things and impact the game defensively and allow his offense to ease back

I’m still buying his rookie cards while they are cheap 👀

Who the hell wants to give up on a 23 year old that’s shown his kind of promise? Dude just needs to make some adjustments defensively and he’ll be alright. He’s elite defensively with an ability to score, that’s a rare combo. Players slump, that’s the jist of it.

  9. No one is giving up on him lol but he needs to stop committing dumbass fouls and he needs to be more consistent on the offensive side of the ball.

It’s okay to simultaneously like his defense while calling out some of the deficiencies he hasn’t been able to control. It’s the same with Ant or KAT…just because we like these players doesn’t mean it’s wrong to criticize Ant’s turnovers and decision making or KAT’s penchant for putting his head down and driving into an impossible crowd.

Jaden is no exception. He has to do a better job of cutting down the braindead fouls and he needs to improve his rebounding and impact on the offensive side.

We see the same problems over and over again from all 3 players over a period of many years. Criticism is warranted in those situations.

  11. Need Finchy to call in a favor from his NOLA days this offseason or all-star and send this kid to the Jrue Holiday School of Defending Without Fouling. Getting that under control is the first step, the rest will come together as soon as that’s put to bed.

I read defensive profile as defensive pedophile and got so confused. (Little buzzed and was watching Mista GG’s To catch a predator series)

Jaden gets an incredibly soft whistle and when you combine that with his temperament and inexperience, I think it’s causing some of his bad performances. It feels like he gets even less respect from the refs this year. I hope he turns it around and learns how to work the system better as the year progresses instead of butting his head against the wall trying the same things that haven’t been working thus far.
