[Kawakami] It’d probably be an upset if Andrew Wiggins is still with the Warriors after Feb. 8.

A lot of notable material in here.

Warriors don’t want to trade Kuminga…at all. They rather package CP3 and Wiggins together with picks.

Also, they still want to compete with Steph. Even if it means a mini rebuild to compete for next season. So no Curry trade in the near future.

Thirdly, Warriors brass are down to gamble on Siakam even if it means losing Podz. As long as they don’t lose Kuminga. And if no Siakam, they’ll go after other players that can help Steph compete in the next few years. (Maybe Murray and Capela? Or Murray and Bogz?).

And lastly, Warriors recognize they need more size. Jarrett Allen is available, for what it’s worth.

The real question is why are we waiting? To slide down even more? Just trade him already because whoever we do get needs to get in and I am pretty sure whoever we trade for will not be a rental. Warriors will definitely look for someone who stays here for next year atleast

Dont overpay next time after a one season wonder

Isn’t TK Lacob’s mouthpiece? This is big if that’s the case

I do not like the ‘nobodys more responsible’ part because Klay started off bad too and draymond has been suspended for most of the season.

  6. wentzvania

good riddance, best for both parties for Wiggs to get a fresh restart elsewhere

  7. couchtomato62

Draymond has played 15 games. I nominate him.

I think moving off Podz would be a big mistake. He’s the kind of role player (smart, good positioning, knows when to shoot for the most part, does all the little things) a title contender needs to win

Agree, but who will want Wiggins now? it’s almost a Ben Simmons at this point.

Kuminga’s athleticism and his ability to draw fouls quickly makes him valuable for us. We might’ve beaten Denver if Murray fouled out

Here’s the segment from the piece related to the youth:

    • Wait, they could trade from their group of young players when the Warriors need to get younger? Yes, I think that’s possible because there are likely no stars here. The Warriors’ youth wave has helped at times this season, but it seems clear that Moody, Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski and Trayce Jackson-Davis are, at least for now and maybe into the future, mostly complementary pieces. The Warriors will want to keep most of them, but they don’t need to keep all of them.
    • The Warriors likely wouldn’t mind jumping into a short-term rental of somebody like Toronto’s Pascal Siakam if they don’t have to put Kuminga into the trade. Would Paul’s expiring contract plus Moody plus a future first-round pick do it? How about if they offer Podziemski instead of Moody? And would the Warriors be confident that a few months in the Bay Area would convince Siakam to re-sign here?

Man i love Wiggs and hoped he’d be a warrior for the rest of his career but, maybe a change of scenery would help him. You can see how RJ has brightened up with playing for Toronto. Forever grateful for that ‘22 season so i just hope whatever happens he can thrive.

If trades will be made… Make the trades now!!

Why wait until the deadline?! We might be way too far behind at that point

  14. Man I thought Wiggins breakout year was gonna be the new Wiggins. 2022 finals wiggins was insane. What happened

  15. BeetLover1111

He’s wrong more often than not lol. He might be right this time but this guy is anything but reliable.

  16. Tim wrote a whole article the morning after Dray’s suspension was handed down about how the Warriors were done with him and all of it and all about how he could be traded…literally that afternoon MDJ and Steve Kerr spoke to the press and were emphatic about Dray not going anywhere. Tim, as he does, would word salad the rest of the day on Twitter in an attempt to try to walk back what he said in his article.

So I’d take anything, not just this Wiggs bit, he says in this article with a grain of salt lol

Edit to add: also Tim saying Wiggs game has fallen off a cliff “from the start of this season” makes no sense given Wiggs started the season slumping lol

I’ll always have a soft spot for Wiggs and I think we can all say we’d rather have had it work out and he’d be that same 2022 monster. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I thought him taking a pay cut was good value at the time but he’s just not the same right now. Maybe it is him fracturing that rib and missing so much of last season and he could bounce back with more time, but his finishing around the rim and defense aren’t the same right now. If you can get something of value, whether a trade exception and picks, or a piece to help curry win, you gotta do it.

  18. Wiggins is the new scapegoat like Poole and Wiseman.

  19. meangreen1242069

Man Wiggins decline has been sad. I wonder if it has to do with the personal issues that he has been dealing with? Wherever he goes, I will always root for him.

  20. coolcouchpotato

people stuck on the past. if we want to compete then people will need to be traded no matter how much you like them. add on kerr’s terrible coaching and we will be like this until steph retires.
