“I Was Pleased That We Fought Back Into The Game.” | Chris Finch Postgame Sound | 01.01.24
Were the defensive breakdowns happening for I mean it was uh they weren’t breakdowns defensively they were uh breakdowns on the box outs I mean they were basically just punking us on the glass mostly um and then you know hit us on cut some cuts and stuff like that but um
You know Second Chance points really were what put separation in the game the offense I think was seven turnovers that quarter as well rest of the game did a decent job limiting those kind of what was off rhym in that quarter yeah I mean just some
Wild passing you know for most part like driving into the same stuff that’s been plaguing us driving into a crowd um you know trying to Fred the needle in a pass you know into a packed paint um you know um that kind of stuff
So how hard is it to the way you guys play defense you’re physical and it requires a lot of energy and focus as the as the season goes on is is it tough to try to maintain that on a night in Night Out basis I mean it shouldn’t be I
Mean I don’t think I don’t think it’s been you our defensive Focus or um or maintaining and I mean you know there’s yeah there’s some moments when we’re better than others but I I didn’t think tonight was like I mean we didn’t we were flat in the first half I don’t know
I don’t know what it was we didn’t have our best game we didn’t have our aame but you know was uh pleased that we you know fought back into the game even when we got down big we kept fighting back and um you know you can’t do that unless
You’re guarding at a high level so um but yeah turnovers offensive it was a possession game I mean they had uh you know more shots than we did J M comes in and really ignites that that run three guys late third early in the
Fourth is it is it hard not to get him more minutes yeah I mean I mean he’s now played in you know three of the last uh handful of games and every single time he’s come in and have you know um uh super positive impact so as we said it
You know at halftime it certainly felt like a JM game cuz we needed that juice um but and you know we thought we thought that position or we still believe that position could be situational um but if somebody comes and takes it then somebody comes and takes
It and it looks like jmax on his way to doing that right now uh another positive is Carl seems at least offensively back on track especially opening in fourth quarter yeah what was the key for uh you know thought um his decision making was pretty quick
You know like he’s been kind of holding a lot I thought this time he you know shot it or drive it did a good job there uh you know we went to him a little bit more in the post probably should have done even more so down the stretch um
You know got some decent looks from three so did they do a good job on a in The Fourth Kind what did you see that made for him I didn’t think that they did a any better job on the fourth and they did a whole game I you know was
Obviously the the two turnovers and the tough shot that was um kind of emblematic of his of his fourth but I didn’t think I didn’t see anything different that they did on him on the fourth you know so when you’re going up against a like grimy kind to maximize everything they
Have on that side you start to look at like is kind of like a playoff style barometer I mean top of the Western Conference but the biger picture is obviously bigger than just finishing high in the west like yeah take these games against teams like that and try toic
Lage to twe moving into when it gets to April uh I’m not sure I fully understand what you’re talking about but I mean I think we’re pretty you know physical I think we can be pretty grimy defensively we have guys who can who really like to
Score it but um you know we’re always looking at ways that you know things may or may not hurt us in the future things that we can do better and adjust you know um so I don’t know if that answers your question but they’re more the Knicks are more of a playoff type
Defense and you’ll see on the average you talking about with their physicality and stuff like that um I mean I guess there’s some physical teams you know throughout the league I mean we played the Lakers the other day they’re pretty physical real physical actually um yeah so I mean we’ll take
From it what we can and and keep moving forward is there anything you thought kind of just had a very good start to the game yeah anything you thought changed in that second quarter yeah I just I mean our I thought our energy just kind of dipped I thought our start
To the game was good we made some shots we got a few stops but I didn’t think our energy was super high and it kind of maintain that level they found another gear we didn’t respond so how how have you just kind of felt you know this is kind of the middle
Headed towards the end of you know a really tough stretch of your schedule how you just thought overall you guys kind of navigated I mean pretty well I mean we still got a bunch of games coming up here against really really good teams you know we go on the we come
Home play New Orleans you know they they um they got us last time we played them uh then we go on the road so it’s it’s tough but um I don’t know what we are next I think we’re I don’t know maybe 7 and3 74 74 something like that um and um
You know that’s uh can’t be too picky about that so thanks okay thanks

Any players postgame interview? We need to know what they think
Terrible coaching this game. You got microwave Ant first quarter with the 15 pts and you cool him off next quarter and let Knicks cut the 11 points deficit and still not put him in, even tho he had solid game seemed like confidence was lost. Kyle Anderson is just taking someone’s roster spot and everyone was missing Gobert on open lobs this game. 1st spot in the west is up for grabs if nothing changes, come to this comment in a month. Happy new year
Towns and Edwards, new rule; Do not speak or react after a foul call. Practice being stoic, and dear god get back on defense!! Your shenanigans and theatrics lost the game for you.
Too many back door cuts this game
I think we lost the game in the second half; We had a lead of 15 points, the coach changed almost the entire lineup and did not ask for time in crucial moments, to the point that we lost the advantages and were left far behind, after that the wolves never came back. Come on, how can a team lose that lead without the coach call time up!
Apparently the sky is falling according to the comments. Calm the hell down. Still first in the West. Sheesh.
