Since Dec 18th(where both Bam/Herro came back) – Bam/Herro, no Duncan: -4 net with 107 ORTG(48% 2pt, 35% 3pt) in 173 min – Bam/Duncan, no Herro: +14 with 119(54%, 37%) in 163 min – All 3 on: -5 with 117(48%, 40%) in 93 min At some point, these numbers are saying something

Honestly Herro just needs to embrace the super 6th man role, he’s fucking perfect for it. Spo needs to sit his ass down and tell him hey dude you’re an average starter or you can be an absolute fucking menace 6th man against 2nd units and thrive

Bam + Duncan has always been the way though. Hate when we went away from it in the Playoffs. Those 2 when mindmelding are our best offensive tandem.

  3. ThatWalkingStick

I’m sure you can tho this for most of our players in any combinations you want. What about when Jimmy is back, seems like the sub forgot about Jimmy cause they are too focused on hating herro. What does this all mean when he returns?

    Good post.

Looking forward to the “you can make the stats say anything” comments from a vocal cohort of fans who have still not found a way to make the stats say what they believe.

Tyler kinda gets in a mode where his shot selection comes to question, not totally a ball stopper though. Couple that with average to below average defense.

  6. He’s young and thinks he’s good enough to be a starter, if his talents don’t mesh with the team then just trade him. The main reason he’s been a trade fit is he’s one of our best young assets and an unbalanced fit on the starting rotation.

Duncan’s chemistry with Bam along with his ability to get to the rim since last years playoffs should be something Spo uses more often as the season goes on. It feels like an instant bucket whenever they do a pnr

Bam and Duncan have by far the best two man game chemistry on this roster. Dribble handoff, Bam finding Duncan’s backcut, Duncan’s occassioanl lob to Bam.

  9. hope we finally get off him man he’s still really good and has the potential to go to that next level but if we’re trying to compete we can’t have this guy who’s so on and off, not efficient enough, and doesn’t really make the guys around him better disrupting the offense so much.

It’s about adjustment and having more chemistry. Herro’s not perfect, but it’s about getting better. Although these stats are telling at the moment, it doesn’t mean that they can’t be improved. Herro just needs to continue to adapt and mesh with the starters. The Bam Duncan dho has been going on for years so it makes sense. Bam and herro will get there with more reps together. My gripe with all this is how everyone is acting like a) Herro can’t improve and b) the stats can’t improve and that the team is doomed if we start him.

  11. **At some point, these numbers are saying something. lol no theyre not. Too many variables, we dont have a healthy team and our rotations havent been stable at all.**

  12. I haven’t seen a fanbase this toxic about a 23 year old. It is really impressive

  13. lomasturbasmeng

Why can’t people say they want to say bam and duncan play together more without it being considered herro hate it’s literal facts they’re better together

  14. johnnymatrix

Tbf it isn’t Herro’s fault Duncan bricks the wide open shots Tyler generates for him. Herro is a bit of a ball stopper though.

Spo knows better than us so imma just roll with what he does

  15. It’s wild that I’ve never even really liked Herro and now I’m getting called a Herro stan. That should tell you how ridiculous the hate is getting for him.

When somebody who couldn’t care less if he was on the team is even getting tired of the constant hate it’s gotten too far….

  16. IWRITE4LIFE

The eye test confirms this. Not saying that we’re better without Herro — especially when J Rich is the one picking up the extra usage— but it’s clear that his impact isn’t additive to the teams overall success in the way that you’d expect.

Zach Lowe is a very smart guy and generally unbiased and even he’s taken the position on multiple occasions that we’re better without Herro or that suspiciously we get better when Herro gets hurt.

  17. with the heat, it’s all about fit. doesn’t mean Tyler is a bad player. Gotta find that sweet spot where everyone thrives.

  18. cocker_spangler

People here treating Tyler like Rozier. Rozier is actually a looter in a riot, scoring 25++ on a really bad team. Tyler of scoring, rebounding and assisting on a good team. It’s just a matter of them playing together more. Repetition and recognition is very important for team success. Also, as an old head, I don’t really get advanced stats. All I see is good plays and bad plays. Shot selection and effort. Not the fucking +/- shit.

You’re not going to gleam anything from those numbers if you’re not including the net rating of the teams you’re playing during these on/off numbers.  The competition matters.

That being said, Duncan Robinson is probably the second best play maker on this team outside of Butler.    No one else draws as much defensive attention and can actually deliver a pass to an open player off it.

  20. Not reading a tweet from the Gus of twitter, honestly this dude could potentially be Gus.

  21. This post is saying you are bum. Stop trying to get rid of Tyrone Herro. Come on. Just stop it

  22. Big_Honey_56

Yes bro, Duncan and Bam have great chemistry, Herro DOES NOT FIT THE OFFENSE OR WHAT IT NEEDS. Let’s get to the rim, let’s get Mitchell man Jesus.
