I have been going back-and-forth on whether or not I would be happy with a Siakam trade. It ultimately comes down to two big things. The first is obviously what we give up for him. Secondly, it’s whether or not the Pacers and Siakam agree to a max. If we are able to get him for a reasonable price and obtain his bird rights, then max him, I would be happy with the deal. I know a lot of people are optimistic about Walker, but locking down Siakam for 5 years eliminates the need for Walker. Hali has made it clear that he’s ready to win and I don’t think waiting 2-3 years for Walker to be a rotation player while we pass on All-Stars is what he has in mind. It’s also a chance to get value from Hield and a first round pick which we are already shopping. The perfect scenario for us is trading Hield, Walker, and a 1st for Siakam after confirming that he would sign a max with us. I don’t think we’d get him in free agency. What do you guys think?

He’s good and would be a big upgrade so it should be considered. I don’t think the Pacers should limit there search for upgrades to the PF position though. I think the weakest position on the team is the 2. With Buddy on his way out the door it will only get weaker if Ben doesn’t make a big leap.

I’m more than happy to give up Hield + Walker + a pick for Siakam. Walker is a young guy in the g league (those are a dime a dozen). Hield is a guy who doesn’t really make us that much better and has never made a playoff game. And we don’t really need picks right now. Assuming Siakam wants to sign with us I’d do something like that in a heartbeat.

Enough with the rumours, I just wanna hear bout Siakam if it’s official news at this point

I’m honestly fully prepared to trade for Siakam, I know people think the pacers don’t leak but there’s two teams involved with trades and there’s WAYYYY too much smoke right now

Is all the Siakam chatter smokescreen for an incoming Scottie Barnes trade? No, I don’t think the Pacers are getting Barnes. It was just a thought I had the other day…all the talk 2 years ago was around Fox, and the Pacers ended up with Tyrese. Some quotes from other GM’s included “we didn’t even know he was available.”

Whoever they trade for, from whichever team, it’s been known for a while that the Pacers need to consolidate players/picks. They have 2 2023 picks who don’t get playing time. Where would their two 2024 picks play? What could they get from Walker, Sheppard, both 2024 picks (or a 2024 and a future FRP) in a single deal or split into two deals.

I think the Pacers will make some move at the deadline. I just hope to be pleasantly surprised again.

One thing I worry with Siakam is timeline. He’ll be 30 this season, and the last 3 seasons have been his prime. He could start to regress at any time, and is much older than our young players.

I don’t want to trade Mathurin or Walker. The Pacers, most likely, won’t be drafting again in the top ten for many years to come. Keeping Walker could be the key to the team having a decade long championship window versus a three or four year window. Siakam would be great, but I think he’s too old to trade someone like Walker.

If we could get him for Nembhard, Buddy, + our two 2024 FRP I’d be fine with it.

But dear god I can’t wait until the trade deadline is passed.

Tyrese-Benn-Nesmith-Pascal-Myles and the boatload of money we’ll have to give Pascal until he’s 35 basically guarantees we’re a 2nd round team at most.

This is a deal the Kings would do two years ago. Are we that desperate??

  11. Ultimately, it doesn’t seem like the trade happens without either Mathurin or Walker, and from the Raptors perspective that makes sense if we’re being completely honest with ourselves here…you generally don’t get an All-NBA player who moves the needle in a big way without giving up some sort of value in return…yes, Mathurin and Walker have a lot of potential and that’s the reason the Raptors want one of them, that’s generally how it works when you trade your best player…they want some sort of value in return because they’re giving up a lot of value when trading an All-NBA guy

In a perfect world, you keep Mathurin and Walker and land Siakam but realistically that’s not going to happen and it seems delusional to think it would…I’m sure some will downvote me for saying that but the reality is that in order to get an All-NBA guy, you have to sacrifice some value…that’s just how it is

The upside is that Siakam locked into a 5-year deal makes them potential contenders for the foreseeable future…it gives them a shot every year for next 3-5 years as long as everyone stays healthy and they continue to build out around that squad. There’s no guarantee that you win a championship, all you can do is try to put together the best roster possible and go out there and compete but a move like this certainly moves the needle in a big way for the Pacers IMO

Siakam has already proven that he can be the 2nd best player on a championship team, having an All-NBA guy who’s won a championship already and knows what it takes to win also is invaluable, especially on a young team! the work ethic, the mindset, and the leadership rubs off on guys

Omg I can’t wait for this shyt to be over.

As long as we don’t give up Walker or Mathurin I’m cool with it. If that’s a no go for them then try to sign Siakim in free agency. If we’re still talking that means he’s interested in playing here.

  14. GhostRevival

If they really want him they should just pursue him in free agency, I don’t want to give up our young top 10 picks for him just for him to bounce in 6 months.
