    I lean Option C or D.

If you’re confident Dunn and Olynyk would re-sign for a reasonable contract and the market isn’t great, no reason to trade them just to trade them. They both bring enough to the team and locker room that offloading them for spare parts and a second isn’t worth it imo.

I’m absolutely out on Lavine, Murray, and Siakam — but if another name pops up (like Mikal Bridges), Utah should absolutely buy.

Simone is a restricted free agent, he’ll have more value than an expiring. In fact, I think the Jazz should keep him. Elite 3 point shooter, and good defender. If teams offer a first for Olynyk, and Dunn, trade them, if they offer seconds, then keep them

  3. If I were Danny I would take the best available move to make us a contender in 3-6 years. We don’t know what the return on Lauri would look like so it’s very hard to say. I don’t want to trade him, but if the thunder offered 5 frp and j dub then it’s hard to say no to that.

I’d call to see what teams are willing to give us for Olynyk, but if they’re not offering at least a first, I hold.

I’d also look for underutilized and underappreciated guys who would fit perfectly in our system. See what the price is on Deni Avdija, for example. If it’s too high though, we can just stay.

Otherwise, see if we can buy super cheap on some young players on loaded lineups. Is Ousmane Dieng + Micic available? (I know Micic isn’t young, but he’d help as filler.) Is it worth looking into Pokusevski?

Option C first, Option B second.

The NBA is unique in that every star player you have counts for so much of your team’s play. Love what Lauri’s become, and I trust Ainge to build around him, especially with recent mid-lottery draft picks and their free agent moves. That’s why I voted C – I don’t think they need to bottom out to build a contender.

That said, if Ainge felt that to build a contender involves trading Lauri, his track record says, “Get behind it.” As well as the Jazz are playing, there’s still a talent gap to get this team to the Denvers of the league.

Siakam, Murray and Lavine would make this team worse

  7. There aren’t any second tier rumored in the trade discussion that would be a good fit for the Jazz. You definitely don’t sell Markkanen.

Poeple like Dunn and Olynyk make the team work. You keep them. JC is critical when you need that spark.

The only people we could part with and not see a significant degradation is Fontecchio, John Collins, and THT. Fontecchio is an underrated defender and probably would fetch the best deal in return. Collins has a huge contract. THT is expiring and likely to free agency elsewhere.

  8. Obviously I trust in management, but Dejounte Murray on his new deal could be a killer piece in Utahs timeline. Obviously the long term plan is Keyonte and they probably want a sizeable wing at the 2 though

Just a fun possibility. Realistically though try and trade Olynyk

  9. Option C:
    – THT: if anyone is willing to take him.
    – Olynyk: 1st round pick = easy yes, so Hendricks would get the minutes.
    – Agbaji: i’m probably the only on here willing to trade him. I love his defence but offensively he’s not the guy. I’ve seen more than enough. He’s contract is still valuable with 2 year team option and lowish salary. We could get something really nice in return.
    – Fontecchio: not a must but I would be inclined to trade him if the return was decent. However I would NOT trade if the beforementioned trades go through (we still need some depth).

    I would not trade:
    – Dunn. I want us to renegotiate his contract in the summer. Great guy, amazing defense, pretty efficient offensively, stable role player.

    Off season:
    – I would continue shopping Agbaji if we didn’t manage to trade him already.
    – I could see us giving a new contract to Olynyk and Fontecchio if the are willing to accept very team friendly deals.
    – I love JC as the 6th man but so do many other teams. His contract is EXTREMELY tradeable. I would absolutely see what his value is. We could make a move to get another all star player because of him and some trade picks. I would probably not trade for picks alone. We have too many to count and at some point we need to convert those to amazing established young players.
