We may want to rethink our trade targets

I see 3 dudes on here that people(me included for #3) have been clamoring for. This is probably the reason why Weltman will never give up big assets to make these trades…

Weltman doesn’t want players who are league-bottom defenders. These are the players who get hunted in the playoffs. It’s the same reason Cole doesn’t play in the 4th if we have a small lead, and he’s not even on this list.

We need shooting, playmaking, and solid defense at the wing. Ideally they’d also be young to fit our timeline.

Every team in the league wants guys like that. They’re not often available, and when they are they command a premium. I’d say Paolo/Franz/Suggs are off the table, anyone else we should be willing to consider if it means consolidating some of our depth into real points on the perimeter.

Id still trade for Simons, but some of the packages people are suggesting we offer the Blazers are nuts. Anything more than WCJ, Harris/Fultz and a 1st is an overpay. Sometimes you have to overpay a little to get the guy if you believe in him, but it cant be a massive overpay.

He’s injury prone, a crap defender and has cooled down a bit after a hot start this season. NOt a bad player at all, and i dont mind trading for him if the price is right as i think we can can cover his weaknesses to a certain extent.

We need shooting. Black and Suggs can defend any guard in the NBA. Franz and Paolo can hold their own. And between Goga/JI we have decent interior defense. We have capable defenders at every position. We can afford to have a liability there if they can score the shit out of the ball.
