Didn’t get to watch last night but this is honestly better than I thought it would be for his first time real nba action.
He was able to drive and get by his man pretty easily. His handles are really good for someone his size. Was really decisive with his passes, very good court vision. Intensity looked good as well. Definitely has the athletic ability to stay with quicker players on D.
On the downside…some really, really bad shots and carelessness with the ball. The pass where he hit the rim 🤦♂️.
Bailed out a couple of times where he gambled and let his player get past him but was fortunate and was able to reach and get the steal. I think he’s just moving way too fast right now without the skill or experience to move at that speed.
He would be an amazing tank commander and I think put up some really good stats along the way if he had free reign. That would be bad for his development though (see: Jalen Green).
Pacers are playing to win so I think he has a long way to go not be a negative player at this point and get regular playing time.
Really high ceiling though, imo, if he’s willing to listen to the coaches. He should watch GG Jacksons interview.
