the amount of time you spend talking about scoot just isn’t worth your energy dude

Scoot looks like an absolute beast in that photo.  Yeah his shooting had been real bad and the stats back it up. I am still optimistic though because his 3pt shot looks better than expected (expectations were quite low) and he is just blowing every layup at the rim. He needs an offseason to learn how to finish layups in the nba.  His middy looks god awful through

    Edit: spelling

Yet he still has the confidence to put up 30+ shots in a single game as a 19 year old. You don’t seem to know hoops well enough to understand how significant that is. You’re just a stat doomer.

Scoot is built diff. Not saying he’s a sure thing, like at all. But damn if he hasn’t looked extremely promising after displaying his absolute confidence/leadership and growth this season. That alone would make him worthy of being a top 5 pick, before you even factor in his physical gifts.

  4. YoureNotThatGu7

Well, he can only go up going forward.

Shooting was considered the weakest part of his game. He’ll improve over time if he wants to.

  5. His three-point shooting has greatly improved though. 38% in his last 10 games.

Good thing he’s got a lot of time to turn it around!

  7. ItsKrakenmeuptoo

Remember he is a rookie. Ausar Thompson is there too. All rookies need years of development.

But his true scooting percentage is off the charts!!!

I’m not super-worried after seeing Scoot transform over the last 10 games into an impact player. Even with his horrid overall shooting against the Suns, he went 4-of-9 from three and 7-of-9 from the free throw line, along with nine assists and three turnovers. Those are the kind of numbers I want to see from him.

Edit: On a related note, Scoot almost had the worst +/- in NBA history against the Thunder. Scoot was -56. Manny Harris of the Cleveland Cavaliers was -57 against the Lakers on Jan. 11, 2011.

I think he’s underperformed my expectations coming into the year, but still has the potential to be a really good player

  11. He came out of the gates shell-shocked: losing the handle in traffic, driving ineffectively into shot blockers, constant turnovers, and a jumper that looked scared to hop off a curb.

Since then though, the vision and passing have been the best part of his game. Turnovers still happen, but he’s a rookie learning defenses and his players’ tendencies. Some of those passes vets don’t see, let alone rookies.

The handles in traffic have also improved, he’s learning pace and when to be a bowling ball, when to slow down. There’s a ways to go, but even his problem of hooking along the baseline has eased. He learns from his mistakes and adapts.

The scoring is a mixed bag. The drives to the hole look better, he’s now getting the ball up instead of just getting brutally stuffed. A lot are rolling off the rim, but Dame had the same problem his first couple of years. Learning how to finish, draw fouls, and earn the whistle from the refs are things I think he’ll improve in.

The jumper shot is a big question, his form doesn’t look bad, but not consistent either. He’s getting to his spots and getting space to pull up cleanly, but it’s hard to tell whether he’s overthinking or just not a good shooter. As long as he’s not Simmons bad, he can effective with the rest of his game.

It’s a different era, but Jason Kidd was a great floor general that couldn’t shoot the deep ball until his twilight years. His shot doesn’t look bad, so I think he’ll be better than that.

Overall, he came in unprepared and amped up. Each game he’s shown improvement and truly does learn from his mistakes. At the minimum he’ll have good vision and solid defense.

I think the finishing will improve and if his jumper is good enough to keep defenses honest, his athleticism will make the rest shine. If he doesn’t pull together at least a mid range a Chris Paul, that’s where I would be concerned.

They can’t all be supermax players on a small market team, if he just ends up being a star floor general and not an all star, that’s something we craved for a decade before Dame.

So… he’s getting a lot of looks/reps. He’s a rookie. Let him cook. This is all a part of figuring it out.

  13. Forbidden_Donut503

Yeah he’s sure struggling to finish and taking a few ill advised shots per game.

The Scoot haters are right that he’s not playing like a superstar, I’ll give them that.

But he visibly gets better almost every week and even through his shooting struggles he’s managing to be productive, stay engaged in the game and routinely break down defenses and make very good passes with excellent court vision.

He’s also already at 19 stronger than the majority of guards he’s going against. He’s going to fill out wayyyyyy more as he ages. Gonna be a brick shit house.

I ain’t worried at all. Don’t know that he’s ever going to have an elite shooting percentage. That’s not his strength. He affects the game so much in other ways his ceiling is still sky high.

  14. All this dude did was post stats with no commentary and the blazer neckbeard fan base started flaming him for being negative, attacking his credibility and searching through his post history .

Worst fan base in the nba honestly. Disgusting behavior. Stop burying your head in the sand and have a civil discourse.

  15. Brasi91Luca

I truly wish this dude didn’t play for us. I genuinely don’t enjoy watching him play basketball. The hype on him was totally wrong

  16. I wish shaedon sharpe has his motivation to shoot and get things happen
