Bobby Marks’ Milwaukee Bucks Trade Guide | NBA on ESPN

All right a happy Wednesday and hopefully everyone is doing great out there uh we are going to do a Milwaukee Bucks trade video trade guide video uh we already have the Lakers Utah um Detroit uh in the Washington um Wizards uh video out there we’re going to do a Milwaukee Bucks trade guide

Comes out the week of the 22nd Eastern Conference and Western Conference 15 teams each trade meter what to watch um salary info draft information trades we’d like to see uh front office history a con um in-depth look at every team certainly some teams are going to be a lot Toronto

Some teams are going to be in that in between stage um certainly Milwaukee Falls in that in between stage we have their trade meter out of three uh their general manager John Horst has been active in the past certainly um at the trade deadline PJ Tucker J Crowder Ser J

Baka a Litany of um of power Forge Milwaukee went out and uh did most of their trade business before the uh regular season started with the Damen Lillard trade from Portland um they are limited as far as from a draft Capital standpoint as far as what they can send

Out in a deal and we’re going to go through through that all um they are topheavy in contracts when you look at uh Lillard Giannis Brook Lopez and Chris Middleton make $134 million then you have those in between players which is Pat conon and Bobby poris and then you

Have a group of eight or nine players making between 1.1 and $2.6 million the new rules this new collective bargaining agreement is going to squeeze this team moving forward for right right now though we’re operating under the now Milwaukee is allowed to go out and send

Cash in a trade they are allowed to aggregate contracts in the trade and take within back 110% of salary um they are allowed to go out and sign a player that was bought out of their contract if that player did not earn more than $12.4 million so for an

Example Gordon Hayward for an example is bought out of his cont contract in Charlotte he’s making $31.5 million he is not allowed to um sign with the Milwaukee Bucks okay so players like that PJ Tucker is bought out I don’t think he will be he can sign in

Milwaukee salar below um so that is in a nutshell as far as where Milwaukee is from a salary standpoint when you look at their payroll okay I’m just pulling it up right now now they are trying to some somewhat emulate as far as what Denver has done where you have your core

Guys with jic Gordon Murray Porter kcp and then they’ve built the back end with all these younger players so when you look at it here we talked about conon who’s got three years left and poris has two years left or three years left excuse me both those players have player

Options in the back end and then there is a huge huge drop okay so you’re looking at Maran bamp you’re looking at um AJ Green Andre Jackson Chris Livingston those four players um a former first a bunch of seconds undrafted and then they’ve got some veterans in there whether look at um

Jake Crowder who could be your big offseason Edition at the trade deadline because he’s coming back from that injury Malik Beasley Robin Lopez fases Cameron Payne and that’s going to be basically basally how it’s going to be going into the future here because next year you have $177 million in payroll

You are a um you are a luxury tax team already um you’ve got a bunch of money non guaranteed you’re likely you are going to be a second apron team next year here what happens with the second apron okay starting in the off season you’re not going to be allowed to send

Cash in a trade any trade exceptions expire dollar for dooll on trades can aggregate contracts the rules get tighter here certainly the draft pick as far as in the future as far as um your pick seven years out gets frozen you wouldn’t be able to trade that that’s in

2032 here so there are a lot of rules in play that will limit as far as what Milwaukee can go out and do as far as from a trade standpoint that’s why we have it as a three if you’re going to go out and move money contracts outside of

That that group of um what do we got here about eight players um it’s going to be certainly a guy like Pat conon okay he is at $9.4 million so when we look at the trade we’d like to see does a guy like Royce O’Neal make sense for you

From Brooklyn gives you a big Wing can make shots now here’s the problem Royce O’Neal is in the last year of his contract he’s on an expiring he does have bird rights meaning that Milwaukee can acquire him and resign him and exceed the salary cap however if he

Leaves and signs with another team the instead of having Pat conon under contract for another two years now that gets replaced with a player on a minimum contract the one trade asset the big one they have is that they have a 2024 second from Portland which is going to

Be in that 31 to3 5 range okay so in the trade guide we put um and I’m actually probably going to adjust it a little bit here we have uh conon in that pick to Brooklyn for Royce O’Neal now O’Neal leaves doesn’t resign you’re out of a

Second round pick that second round pick has value because a it’s a player that could be on a contract for three or four years that maybe could help you in the future or maybe you can move up in the draft maybe you can move you know back

And get two two seconds and now you kind of build back that roster here so you have to be careful as far as what you do with that second round pick when you look at their draft Equity right their draft Equity is limited okay well let’s

Go salary first $18 million over the tax $58 million penalty Giannis can’t be traded thanasis and J Crowder have a one-year bird uh they have the right to veto Bobby por has got a trade bonus uh they are not allowed to trade or swap any first okay they um P New Orleans has

The right to swap at 24 and 26 um you can trade that pick that 2024 first the night of the draft okay so that’s something that to keep in mind you can move a 2024 um first that’s important to keep in mind so the your Equity equity and

Draft picks will start to build up when we get to late June here okay so you got the two swaps with New Orleans there you owe the Pelicans at top four um uh if it’s in the top four to New Orleans in 2025 5 to 30 goes to New York in 2025

There’s an unprotected 27 that New Orleans has and a 2029 first to Portland Trailblazers uh also have the right to swap first in 28 and 30 that’s a lot and then you have two second round picks one of those is that Portland pick so as I you can see

It’s limited as far as what you can do from a trade standpoint here but they’ll be active they’ll be on the phones um they’ll see what they can do but if you’re going to make a deal and the other thing too if you’re going to sign

A player bought out who’s going who is out of the 15 players on your roster who is getting waved there that’s the other thing that you have to take in consideration when you look at Milwaukee from their roster standpoint here but that is it in a nutshell this is a good

Team top two in the Eastern Conference we all know about the defense let it play out a little bit you’ve got a rookie C coaching Adrian Griffin but this roster of course gets evaluated based on what they do in the PO in the postseason and it’s going to be

Basically the same song and dance when we get into the uh into the offseason unless they want to move Brook Lopez or Chris Middleton um because the the resources as far as what they have are going to be limited also have a great day and we will talk soon

  1. Wow, I need some advice. I work 2 jobs to support my family, and I am selling many personal possessions to try to get to a single Bitcoin. I am battling debt, trying to keep us a float, and just trying to be part of this movement. Is there any way to make money from cryptocurrency trading?

  2. Imo the thing the Bucks have been lacking over the past 5 years is a big perimeter defender. As great as Jrue was, he's undersized when going against guys like Butler, Jaylen Brown, Tatum, etc., in the Playoffs. Asking him to guard those guys for a 7-game series is asking a lot of him, probably why he always struggled badly offensively in the Playoffs, using too much energy on defense. And the Bucks' other perimeter players were always undersized too, Pat & Grayson just always got cooked on the switches, Wes Matthew's defense was solid, but he's also undersized & too old. Khris has good size, but this year he's obviously lost a step since he's been getting old & been injured a lot these past few years, players have been blowing right pass him easily this year. When they finally got Jae Crowder last year, he was supposed to be that guy, but Bud refused to play him for whatever reason. He's been hurt this year, but he's cleared to come back this week, so we'll see if he's any help. Even then, you don't know if he'll be the same when he's back, so they need a 3&D wing guy, preferably 6'6-6'8 height. They also need a bench, Pat sucks & Portis hasn't been as good as past years, & then they're relying on two rookies & a 2nd year player in Beauchamp. You can keep Portis, but maybe shop around Pat & Beauchamp. I expected Beauchamp to take another step & improve this year, but he hasn't. The PJ Tucker trade really lit a fire in them in 2021, they need something like that again.

  3. Probably not popular but I'd love to see the Bucks swap Lopez for a big wing. I just don't like how they match up with Boston. Haven't liked it since they made the trade. Brook is awesome but he plays drop and their guards just can't play that scheme effectively. Dame needs long athletic switchable wings to protect him on D

A lineup of Dame, Middleton, Crowder, Jerami Grant and Giannis + Portis & Connaughton is much more competitive with Boston.

Send Brook to OKC — which makes them an inner circle contender since it prevents teams like LA, Minny and Denver from beating them up — and OKC sends Portland some picks for their rebuild

  4. i think they have enough, in a vacuum, to get an impact player but they immediately lose out once they get in a bidding war for somebody .. like caruso for example

  5. Ive never seen a team that every media talks about that has all these issues but yet you look in the standings the Bucks have the 2nd best record I'm confused

  6. Bucks need to offload a heavy contract, in this case Middleton and use that money to get a couple of good perimeter defenders. Players like Pat and Payne can also be traded.
