I know Marang is controversial but we do know he communicates with Cronin at least. This really caught me off guard because id take 3 firsts for JG and RUN with it… id rather Kris Murray and Rupert get the run, plus more shots for Ant/Shae/Scoot/ rest of young guys.

Not all firsts are equal, and pick value is so dependent on protections and other specifics. I don’t think any team is offering 3 premium firsts for Grant, and three end of the first round picks over the next 6 years isn’t what a rebuilding team needs. The priority has to be the high quality assets rather than quantity.

I usually like Danny, but Grant getting full minutes could stunt the growth of Camara and Murray. Maybe not until next season, but it will happen eventually. Might as well trade him sooner rather than later.

And I agree, keep him. Who else is gonna show the kids how to play forward? Billups ain’t doing it. Trade Brogden, play out this season with a normal guard rotation, and see what happens next year. JG isn’t gonna be any less valuable next year, could be even more so. We gotta have at least a few adults on the team, and who knows…maybe he really likes it here and wants to see what it turns into.

Marang is pretty much a PR yes man and mouth piece for the org. I’m sure they’re happy with him staying things like this to give the impression that the price would be steep (I doubt it is).
Those picks are very late firsts. Early seconds are worth more than those.

I don’t hate Marang like everyone else but I HATE this take he has. It’s like he forgets we are rebuilding when it comes to trading Grant.
Grant has never been close to an All Star and is about to be a 30 year old on a rebuilding team. There has never been a single non All Star 30 year that was too good for a 10-29 team to trade.
It just doesn’t make sense.
Trading Grant right now isn’t worth it. Especially for that kind of package. I also don’t think this deal would even be available for him 😂.

I forget Danny Marang is still around because I blocked him on twitter a long time ago. I take everything he says with a grain of salt. I might believe him that the Blazers won’t trade him RIGHT NOW, but I’d be shocked if he’s still on this team next year at this point.

Grant earns a fair wage in the 23/24 season. Maybe even the next one. Both of which were not going to be winning for. I highly doubt we’re happy with the contract in 25/26 or 26/27 as he starts to age.
I’d take scraps for the contract, just because it’s not valuable to us on this timeline. Nothing against him, just he is more valuable to other teams than us.
