How good are the Utah Jazz? | The Athletic NBA Show
Simple question guys what is going on in Utah 15-4 in their last 19 games since Colin ston got back into the starting lineup is it all Colin ston no you sure 22 points a game he’s been playing really well yeah that’s fine but it’s also been
Chris Dunn it’s also just been the team kind of finding their it’s it’s will hardy finding the proper rotation it’s moving Walker Kesler to the bench it’s you know kind of having all that stuff it’s Kelly oin putting in a a on a clinic every night it’s it’s all those
Guys and and it’s not take away from Colin ston he’s been awesome too but it’s not just one person it’s kind that’s kind of the way it rolls for Utah the way they’re playing I think they’ve done a lot of smart things in terms of you know where they’ve kind of started
Off with really poorly whereas now they’ve kind of found a rotation they’re defending harder they’re they’re playing Smarter on offense and finding a good flow and Rhythm you know I think there’s a lot of things that they’re doing it’s Jordan Clarkson coming off the bench uh
After proving he could be a starter at the NBA you know at this level being willing to come off the bench I think there’s just a collective thing going on there and I think the beauty of it is they’re really letting will cook and I mean the players are you’re not hearing
A lot of bitching and moaning about roles and things like that they’re letting him go and I think that’s that’s kind of the fun thing that’s going on in Utah I mean will hardy we we talked about this a lot last year when they got off to that great start Seth will hardy
Is is I think he’s on a fast track to being like one of the better coaches in the league um he has clearly got a grasp on uh role management uh player management and the offensive stuff that he’s doing um you know it it shows it
Shows that he’s putting in a lot of effort to to maximize the guys that he’s got um versus just saying here’s my system please run it I think that’s right I also think that I mean I think we zip past the Colin ston part of the question too fast I’m not
Sure it’s Colin ston per se but I do think that if we look at the last two years of the Jazz like they when they have gotten competent lead guard play they have been solid or better and when they have not they have been you know after they traded Mike Conley last year
It kind of fell off and and um you know when the when when your point guard is is ton Horton Tucker who is still a player who hasn’t really discovered what he is as an NBA player it’s it’s uh almost a lesser version of the not as quite a a
Uh harmful version of the Jeremy soan experiment where it’s just like you you’ve got guys who can finish plays and aren’t getting the ball in the right spots whereas now you know Colin seon isn’t the world’s best point guard but you’re getting that level of of professional competence out of that spot
Now Lorie marinan can do his thing and and uh and John Collins can can can get some stuff done and and uh Kelly o lenck can can can win three on three tournaments the way he plays and um things like that

cmon guys! Here is good analysis on Jazz: I can summarize if not willing to listen.
1) Constant screening
2) Constant screening means all players are active and they are looking setups as a team to create space for someone
4) Space means defences have to react and defence gets disorganized
5) Its easier to score once defense is disorganized and someone will have better shot available
6) Therefore Jazz players have good shooting percentages
