Will he go to NBA prison?
Ultimately, if the family doesn’t share info, it doesn’t matter, right?
Send his ass back to australia
If the family isn’t going to talk to the police, I don’t think they will with the NBA. I don’t see this going anywhere. They have the picture and those 2 videos, but that’s probably all they are going to get.
Much lighter burden of proof for the league to discipline a player for misconduct than for the police to actually charge a person with a serious sex crime. But either way it sounds like this will amount to nothing and we’ll never really know the details of what he did or didn’t do.
I get why he’s not going to be charged but I don’t get why the nba wouldn’t punish him.
where are those clowns from the other threads at
Courts of law are different than courts of public opinion.
Employers are totally allowed to rule by the court of public opinion.
That he is not cooperating with any investigation and the girls are not cooperating and the girls’ families are not cooperating is an excellent way to kill any investigation in the court of law and obviously he should feel no legal recourse if no one can legally prove he’s done anything wrong.
But in the court of public opinion that reality is a pretty damning piece of evidence that he definitely fucked a child. It’s a shame that so many people are taking the fact that courts of law are confined by the Constitution and evidentiary procedure to come to the conclusion that he’s innocent and everyone should just drop it.
Yeah he did that shit
Twitter really lost that campaign, its quite likely that the NBA wont do anything about it considering that there’s no evidence of anything, besides photos and a video that don’t truly prove anything and were quickly deleted from the original source’s feed after publishing.
I know social media hives won’t learn anything from this, especially American-born ones (this Giddey case ain’t that weird in Europe), but I hope that one day societies will move on from “Guilty until proven innocent” stance. I don’t know what needs to change for that to happen, but its unbelievable how social media can ruin people’s lives. The doxxing that was done on social media was vile and unjustified. That girl didn’t deserve it, and I totally understand the parents who don’t want any part of this publicity. It just attracts people who want to point fingers at celebrities.
I see plenty of people in here somehow STILL calling him a rapist, but I’ve still never seen a reasonable answer to what the expected from him.
If she was in an 18+ place, had a fake ID, and lied about her age, how was he reasonably supposed to know? I understand the classic redditor response of “don’t have sex”, that’s not how the real world works. What should he have done without the benefit of hindsight?
I mean, at this point it’s pretty reasonable to assume what happened right?
Giddey was at an 18+ club, he met an underaged girl there who had lied about/doctored her identity via a fake ID to enter the club, Giddey (IMO reasonably) assumed that the girl he met at an 18+ club was in fact over the age of 18, they had sex, and he later found out she was actually a minor after the fact
Because if Giddey was completely innocent in the sense that there was no basis of truth at all in these claims, then with his resources this very easily could have gotten cleared up in like a day or two. On the flip side, if he had acted maliciously in any way and had knowingly had sex with this minor, then I feel like she and her family could have verily easily conjured up proof and scored a big financial payday if she had done nothing wrong (like resorting to illegal means to conceal her real age)
The fact that this investigation ended due to a lack of any real cooperation from either side is why I believe the scenario I outlined in my second paragraph is what occurred. Of course that ultimately leaves us with this quandary: is it fair to label somebody a pedophile/predator if they unknowingly have sex with a minor and are in a situation where it is genuinely reasonable to assume the minor is over the age of 18?
But are the reddit schleps that didn’t make the police force done with their investigation?
How old was the girl anyway?
I don’t think anything will happen to him. The NBA players union will step in to defend him as they can quickly point to police finding nothing.
If Kobe and Malone got off, tf y’all think was going to happen here?
The particulars of this still aren’t clear to me… I’ve seen speculation the girl in question was 15 and others say she was 17. A 17-year-old and a 19-year-old is a completely normal age gap, notwithstanding power imbalance of one being a millionaire basketball player. In most places, Romeo & Juliet laws completely protect these kinds of relationships.

A 15-year-old and 19-year-old is a different situation entirely.
Clipper fans booed him every time he even touched the ball. If he was clearly of charges then let the dude play ball. Fuck do you know how many 20 year Olds talk to 17 year Olds and it’s no big deal?
Someone said in the earlier thread that the family of the girl is receiving death threats. How awful is your life if you do that to stan for your fav player? Fuck.
