Evan Sidery (@esidery) on X: Rival executives believe the Pacers aren’t done making moves. Indiana could dangle Obi Toppin or Jalen Smith alongside Buddy Hield to acquire another starting-level player.

There’s still a lot of time before the deadline. Do we think any more trades are happening?

  1. It would make sense to move one of Jalen/Obi if we don’t plan on re-signing, especially considering Siakam will absorb some of their playing time.

It just depends on who’s available.

Since its Pritchard, we probably will end up trading for some guy I’ve never heard of who will be awesome for us.

Personally, IDK what we really need but if Hield and Smith aren’t re-signing we should be looking.

  3. I’d be extremely surprised if we moved Stix. Our center depth would be Myles and IJax which would leave us a little thin (literally and figuratively) against the Bucks, Celtics, and Sixers. I totally get the looming risk in the off-season, but unless another move is to acquire some replacement center depth, I don’t see it.

it’s Sidery so it’s more clickbait than truth

fwiw i can understand *why* we’d make another deal IF:

    -Buddy won’t extend with us

-Jalen will cost too much after turning down his P.O.

-Toppin is upset his role keeps diminishing

-too good of a deal materializes that we can’t say no to

however i doubt we’re actively pursuing anything, more so kicking the tires and keeping our options open.

Hield would be great as a starter/6th man with Tyrese/Siakam duo. I’d hope he’d want to extend and stay longer honestly even if Mathurin eventually starts. Stix is a backup center in this league and there’s not anywhere i can think of where he’d start – his role and fit here is good but he may command a bigger deal we can’t afford this summer (especially if IJax continues to show he’s ready to be the backup C and Oscar moves up to third string). Toppin has looked solid but not more than a role player, still he’s got a place in the league as an energy guy who has been consistently shooting well this year – however his deficiencies may keep him on the bench in the playoffs when defense and focus are important.

who could we be possibly targeting? i’m assuming we’re looking for a wing if that’s the case?

Can’t see the team including Jalen for anything but a significant upgrade. So what lotto disappointment is Pritchard targeting now?

Wiggins or Kuzma are the only two that I can think of

If we max Siakam, how much $$$ will we have left?

Come on man, Obi got through the first rumor. Don’t do this to me again
