Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic and players remember Assistant Coach Dejan Milojevic | NBA Today

To some news in the Western Conference the NBA has postponed a second Golden State Warriors game in the wake of assistant coach dehon malic’s death announcing that Friday’s contest against the Dallas Mavericks would be played at a later date malovich 46 died on Wednesday in Salt Lake City after being

Hospitalized the night before when he suffered a heart attack we now welcome in our reporter covering the Golden State Warriors Kendra Andrews Kendra malovich he was a beloved member of the staff he was a husband a father a fixture of international basketball this is an impossible situation um how are the Warriors doing

Today yeah I mean like they’re they’re still reeling from the trauma of yesterday’s tragedy over 75% of the players and coaches and staff members that were on the Warriors road trip were there they were at the restaurant they were at dinner they were with Dey when

He suffered his heart attack and it was an event described to me as traumatic um something that they have never witnessed anything like it before and it’s something that will stick with them um for a really long time now to add salt to their wound they couldn’t even get

Back to San Francisco last night they had plane issues so they didn’t get home until this morning and so they’re still rattled and unsettled and sad and angry and all of those feelings and that’s why the league postponed tomorrow’s game one person told me this morning there is no

Way that within the next 24 hours this team could flip the page and focus on or play in a basketball game um and so now the Warriors they have six days before their next game when they host the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday and they’re going to spend that time just away from

Basketball they’re going to spend it with their families and with their loved ones and then in the next couple days they will come back together and just try to regroup and figure out how do you turn your attention back to their season um and finish out the year in dey’s

Honor and honoring his legacy Kendra thank you so much our thoughts are certainly with the movich family the impact of the loss of movich who was affectionately called Dei by those who knew him it’s being felt well beyond the Golden State Warriors uh Toronto head coach Darko rakovich he spoke to

Reporters before the Raptors game saying it was a really tough day for the entire NBA community and I know dayon since I was a teenager he had known him he was a role model as a player as a man as a husband as a coach and what happened

Afterward that’s what gave me chills take a listen to yakovich following the Raptor’s big win over the heat on how he paid tribute to his friend told my guys that I loved him and uh opening play in a game was ATO that um that Dei my friend I learned

That play from him and that’s what he brought to NBA that’s what he brought to Golden State I stole that play from him and that was our opening play tonight and we were able to score on that one so you know I dedicated this this team

Win to our team and and to to De maverick star Luca donic was among others to honor movich writing Rest in Peace Dei and in a social media post Lori Markin in he posted awful news today my deepest condolences to coach mich’s family and the Warriors organization and rookie Brandon psky he

Added you changed my life in such a short time the most important thing you ever told me was to just smile your joy your life laughs they will be forever missed shine down on us from heaven

  1. Damn our season is already falling apart and then this happens. It’s sucks to see. Very sudden and unexpected loss RIP Dejan.

  2. The fact that they saw with their own eyes someone losing their life like that is genuinely so traumatic and impossible to imagine. Forget basketball, I hope they all just get in a better place mentally. RIP Deki💔🙏

  3. Hey Malika are you gonna talk about Knicks owner James Dolan pressuring a woman to take his 🍆???????

  6. Its kind of funny how we all can pay a tribute/prayers to the famous ones but the famous ones wont send condolences back for our lost ones… And i just lost someone yesterday🙏🏿🙏🏿

  7. I'm glad the game vs. Jazz AND the game vs. Mavs has been postponed.

I'm glad Warriors get a week/multiple days to process this a little before they have to think about getting out there again.

I've no doubt the tribute at Chase will be memorable.

    R.I.P. Dejan, heartbreaking loss 😢❤

  8. So sad, so heartbreaking, RIP Dejan, prayers, god bless, and condolences goes out to him and his whole family and loved ones 🙏

  9. Why is this reporter laughing and smiling ?!?! GET HER OFF CAMERA!! Unprofessional !!!!

  10. For the people who do not know much about Dejan, he was basically Serbian Charles Barkley – a strong PF, a bit undersized (201cm or roughly 6'6), incredible rebounder (often double–double points/rebounds), he achieved his best results playing for the former European club champion Partizan Belgrade (club in which Vlade Divac, Predrag Danilovic, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Nikola Pekovic, Nenad Krstic or Jan Vesely played). I used to watch him often in Belgrade with my dad when i was young. He was also the first professional coach of Nikola Jokic and the guy that kind of discovered him. What can I say, a horrible loss, we all expected him to take over the national team in the near future, incredible guy, funny, a fighter, always with a smile, a true winner despite his height and certain other limitations he had for the position he was playing at. Finally, he holds the second highest individual index rating score in Euroleague history. We will never forget him, a massive thank you to GSW for the way they handled the situation and bid farewell to our boy Dejan.

  11. Part of me feels the team should just not even think of trades.. just keep the team as is.. rally together and play for him.. worry about the other stuff in offseason.. that’s just me though.. rest in peace Coach..

  12. Why would they be angry . ??
Why do Americans have to dramatise everything , Jesus Christ .
    RIP Deki ..

  13. Remember that this heart attack more than likely happened due to vaccine injury & before anyone gets too emotional and goes keyboard warrior on this statement, 02% of the population dies daily… you either think with logic, or are ruled by your emotions.
