Is Pop’s style of coaching outdated? Does it matter because Pop can leave when he wants? Or is this an example of someone not realizing Pop HAS changed style?

The last 20 years of life have taught me that if Gilbert arenas is involved in something. It’s probably best to slowly back away and not get involved So I’m going to skip that video. Thank you very much.

finally, im so happy he said this because if gilbert arenas says somethin you can be certain that the truth is exactly the opposite

I don’t know who half of this people are, and I don’t trust anything Gilbert says since he’s trying to get likes or whatever metric they use for podcasts, and I don’t trust Martin since he’s probably bitter at losing to the Spurs anyways, haha.

This literally was the start to lighting spurs twitter on fire. Pop apologist vs people who want pop out or he deserve more blame.

I look at it like this.

Our biggest issues is perimeter defense and we have really low shot quality, we have the of the lowest paint touches in the league.

Essentially all that it takes to beat the spurs, is shoot threes better than us and make us shoot threes and crowd the paint.

    How much is on coaching?

Well Pop can’t shoot for us. So a lot of that is on the players. Making the extra pass is not on Pop that is also on the players. So our offensive struggles I don’t see how that’s pop’s fault exactly. Play calls seem to be made, we get open looks. They haven’t been falling. How you correct that? Well I’m a fan not a coach on the spurs so 🤷

Perimeter defense has a lot to do with defensive schemes and game plans. Issue is, is the game plan or schemes poorly done or poorly executed by the players.

Well we do know outside of schemes we have 3-4 players on the whole are in the bottom 200 defenders in the league. However if you take out those four players, we literally don’t have a roster or you force a starter to play 35+ mins and idk if that has ever been pop’s style outside the playoffs.

But when a drop coverage is called on a team full of shooters instead a man to man or an hedge then you tend to question coaching well is that the best option? Or not doubling a player who is known to go off until they get 30+ points like Trae young, you wonder why that adjustment wasn’t made in the beginning so it never happened in the first place. But again I’m a fan. Coaches see stuff we don’t all the time and you’d imagine pop seen it all.

But perimeter defense has to be addressed as well as the offense otherwise we will be disappointed often at games we could have won but we put in a line up that blow us out in 10 mins or less when they played. But is that on the players or the coaches.

2014 Spurs has been a blueprint for teams in how to organize offense. I don’t think these guys watch games anymore.

God damn i hate clickbait culture.

Capitalization for EMPHASIS. Insulting word in the thumbnail. Only two things missing are the red circle/arrow and the Edvard Munch “The Scream” face.

Anyone utilizing these kinds of tatics on their content doesn’t care about content quality nor do they say anything of substance. All that matters to them is that people click on their video and share the ragebait around(great job on that OP)

You should be feel some sense of shame for partaking and helping push, what really is, a absolute downgrade in modern day journalism. Sensationalism. Borderline yellow journalism

Means dick to me. These old mf’s talk about these players like they can relate. You got KMart talking about these kids don’t like to read, they wanna play Fortnite. Like 1.) We got some nerds as players who do like to read and 2.) We have had nerd ass players playing videos games before they were cool, this shit is not new to Pop.

They speak on it like they know the kinda players we got. We’ve seen that most of these fellas like to be coached hard. Anyways, narrative shit aside, think about how hard the Spurs had to work to fucking be this bad. We traded away White, DJ, DeRozan, Poeltl and let Patty and LMA go and even without the traditional stars we still got to the fucking play-in game.

Pop didn’t suddenly go bad, the front office literally gutted teams to get them to this point, to get Wemby, to set up the future. Impatient fucks just want results now.
