Chauncey Billups Postgame Interview | Portland Trail Blazers 105, Brooklyn Nets 103

So we probably should have asked about this pregame but I think we were probably preoccupied by the da ice thing but what went into the change in the starting lineup um yeah I just I mean we just needed a change man we needed a change and you know obviously you know I think

Scoot and two have been playing well but we just haven’t gotten off to really good starts you know um and most times the start don’t really get you beat in games but for us it has been really it’s putting us in such a deficit um and I just felt like you know

Kind of both guys at the start of game be playing with a little too much pressure as opposed to just being relaxed um so I had made the decision uh two games to go left on the trip but I just wanted to wait till I

Got back and and our line of still was going to be Shay um as opposed to Malcolm but uh obviously Shay gets hurt in that game so you know couldn’t do him but um and then with Jabari you know he just gives us so much re so the

Rebounding and and things that he gives us is a big deal um so we just needed something just just something different to look at you know and as I’ve said all year Sean like this that type of season where we just kind of try a lot of

Different stuff and I’m pretty sure it’s going to be fluid it’s going to change again a couple times and it just no big deal was that the I assume that was the play was to get the ball to ant at the end of the game there and and

See what he can do yeah that was the play uh to get it to ant I just wanted to make sure that no matter what you know it was a perfectly executed play the guys executed it just beautifully they really did and ant shot the ball I

Told him we need to get the last shot you know we don’t want to get him a shot at it I mean and you can’t do it as you know ant was it was beautiful I mean point two on the clock um even if he misses that shot I mean

Point two they got to they got to dang there miracle for them to make a shot uh for us against us we just going overtime with him again but and hit a big time shot little surprising too with the way the game went in Brooklyn last time that

They they went all out to make sure the ant didn’t get the ball late in the game this time he does get it late in the game and makes him pay yeah uh they they tried to come and fire though you know the way we cleared the whole right side

Out um um their fire was going to be coming from the you know from the left ant’s left side so he would have been able to still get to his right he just did he made a heck of a play kind of split it CU they did come on a double

Team but he just he wasn’t he wasn’t taking no for an answer on that um and he had been struggling a little bit you know he hadn’t been feeling great but his energy was pretty low um but he man he made a big time shot huge game from Jeremy tonight obviously

Just in general how big is he to to everything like how important is he to just everything you guys do Jeremy is as important uh to what we do is anybody on the team he really is I mean we depend on him he comes out tonight and go gets

30 um and I was I was all on him about being more aggressive in the game you know and I thought defensively he was really good too um comes up with I’m all I’m all over him all the time about the rebounding um he come comes up with a

Big time you know offensive rebound to M kept it alive and he’s offensive rebound put back but Jeremy was huge man you know he he doesn’t get enough credit because he’s just so quiet and he’s just so humble um but that dude is a real he

He’s the real deal you know we depend on him I trust him on both sides of the ball um and he’s pretty much like the leader of our team you know um so he was he was awesome he was awesome today it was just I was just so happy to have him back

What else stood out for you in the game collectively I think one of the biggest things um I told our guys that team they do a lot of things pretty good but the thing that they’re Elite at is their offensive rebounding and I and I thought that we

Did a really good job against them in Brooklyn and gave up nine and then today giving up six I thought that was huge for us you know it give gave us us the opportunity you know if we can rebound we can go you know you know and we

Didn’t our offense really wasn’t wasn’t good most of the night but we gave oursel a lot of opportunities because we were able to rebound so to me that was the key to the game was uh trying to make sure that they you know they didn’t

Live up to what they usually do and and beat you up on offensive glass

  1. SICK ISO BALL ha. nice to win, but horrid horrid offense..its why scoot looked so bad..hes playing iso, when hes not an iso player. billups, stop having everyone stand around while one player does 1v1 jesus

  2. This guy needs to be fired like last year. Wins or losses he’s a completely clueless idiot. The simps who keep making excuses for him don’t get it’ll take a decade for him to “figure it out”. 🤦🏻‍♂️

  3. What’s with the weak questions from the reporters? Y’all not watch the game? ISO ball is killing this team, and Billups needs to be asked where this team offense he promised at the start of the season is.

  4. Henderson has no NBA skills. What a terrible waste of a high draft pick. Jody and Joe don't care. Billups is stuck with this roster of average to above average players. Getting Ayton in a trade and drafting Henderson should be enough for a firing but not in rip off city. Sharpe has such a long way to go to be a solid player that can be counted on and you can tell by his body language, he doesn't love the game of basketball, he's only playing for the money. Love the effort from Reath and the smarts of Brogdon. Camara needs to develop a jump shot and he could be good. Other then that what do they have. Grant and Ant and good players but not great and not worth those contracts
