First I want to start out with Dame deserves to be an Allstar deserves to be Allstar he’s helped us get you know achieve the second best uh record in the East uh you know he’s a proven vet and he deserves he deserves this so get out

And vote you know get out and vote uh Dame deserves to be on the allstar team uh just to finish that train uh thought I guess Malik’s in in the running for three absolutely another one of our guys Malik deserves it he’s shooting over almost 48% from the three uh six or more

Three attempts uh three-point attempts a game uh that means he’s he’s uh accurate and he’s shooting at a high clip and another big reason why we are where we are today so yeah bees definitely Malik Beasley get out and vote um along those lines though I guess in Cleveland you

Talked about this and the guys that after about stickiness you know without Yannis ball didn’t quite move did it did these last couple days of film break down really emphasize or reemphasize how important that ball movement is whether Yiannis or or Dame play yeah you know

Just a quality of shots one of our pillars on the offensive end is our shot quality uh when you take high percentage shots you know you give yourself a chance but it was more also you know Cleveland’s defense you know they’re top five they’re long they’re athletic uh

And you have to have that discipline and you got to go in and execute you you know a lot of our our offense was like a dribble up shot or a one pass shot you know you got to be able to move their defense you got to be able to execute to

Second third kind of action move the ball side to side uh and I thought that was the the you know the Brun of our issues because you know when you don’t take great shots you don’t have great floor balance I think um Mitchell had I want to say 30 something points 16 of

Them came in transition we just couldn’t get our defense back set so it’s just one thing kind of bled to the other but you know you’re right you we have to uh the last couple days were great you know we we’re able to uh work on some things

Put some counters in uh give them some uh visuals and some some uh kind of uh some language in there that’ll help them you know play to that second and third side you guys have been really good at home a bunch of WS on the road it’s been

Closer to 500 how do you like you guys can you know get your game to travel a little bit better and a little strong well I mean you know it’s it’s tough number one to win on the road you have to play uh very good basketball on both

Sides of the ball and you there’s no easy games there’s just no no way around it Detroit is playing better they have some uh getting their guys back healthier uh they’re playing more competitive um if you’re watching the games and they have talent you know every NBA team has talent and the season

To say oh that’s just Detroit but Detroit has size they have some good scoring they got guys you know Alex bur’s Off the Bench they have guys that are really uh NBA Pros so um it always comes down to controlling what we can control and uh I think you know we have

To learn from last game of of taking care of the ball shot quality uh getting our defense back uh defense set with transition you know sprinting back getting in our gaps controlling the ball keeping the ball out of paint and then just multiple effort uh you got to do a

Lot of things well on the court at home and even more on the road you you guys never want to lose a game like that with that kind of Marg but do games like that help you as a coach as a teacher be able to make the points that you need to make

And say like hey we do have to keep focused we do have to keep up I know it’s January it’s the middle of the Season we’re trying to fight through but does a loss like that help refocus everyone well you know that’s kind of typically how it goes but I think

Also um you have to make those points when you when you win too you know lot I’ve been around a long time you know it’s easy to fall into that trap when when things are bad you you start watching film you start breaking down film film sessions are longer but

You could easily fall into the Trap of not doing as much when you’re winning you know because number one every team is different uh sometimes you you can win just B B on Talent you know uh but when April May and June come you have to

Win by execution and and your talent and uh you know great players are always going to make great plays but the tougher the competition you know we have to have those H habits now but you know of course games like this you’re going to have their attention but I think it’s

Also critical you know wins or losses you have to build those habits of like how do we get better even after I win how do we get better um because the competition is great you know and again the the further you want to go in the postseason the better the

Teams are and you you definitely have to have those habits build in now did you notice that difference in practice though in terms of them wanting to kind of bounce back and kind of feel no I mean you know this team has a lot of

Pride and uh you know of course we don’t want to lose the way we lost so um guys came in with great attitude great effort um we show them on the film where where we can get better you know transition defense in particular uh just you know

It takes what it takes you know teams are playing faster uh your first three steps got to be a Sprint back and you got to get in your gaps and you got to build walls and and then it’s you know multiple efforts a after that but I

Didn’t think we gave oursel a chance in that game uh just far as our shot selection didn’t allow us have the proper four balance and then we just you know were giving them kind of gaps and holes and and where they can just punch those gaps and holes get to the rim so

And and they were shooting high percentage shots you know so um you know it’s you show them what we we need to improve on they were very receptable this is really great coaching uh a group of guys that very coachable so it’s not hard in that sense it just uh continue

To building the habits um your first half of your first year as a head coach I mean Cleveland was the 41st game um your roster changed right before Camp coaching they have changed right before the regular season what how have you evolved I guess and just it’s only been

Three and a half months but there’s been like a lot you know for you what is where do you think if when you look back at yourself not even to June to September 27th um how have you seen yourself change grow has it been what you thought

Harder no it’s of course it’s uh you know nothing really prepares you so for some of the things that you deal uh have to deal with on a daily basis basis it just comes with you know sitting in that seat uh but I do think you know just the

Way my parents raised me my dad was a really spiritual religious guy and I think the biggest lesson that he taught me when I was a kid is that stuff don’t doesn’t always go your way and then life is full of adversity is how you respond and you know I’ve undrafted fighting and

Clawing away in the CBA in the minor leagues and and then getting in the NBA and I end up playing nine years I had to fight and Claw a lot of setbacks a lot of disappointment but the key in life is just not to give up and keep fighting keep finding ways

To improve um we got the right people on board so that’s made my job you know um a lot easier you know John and his entire staff you know we’re like a family here the player been great my staff been great but it’s not supposed

To be easy you know it’s not going to be easy but you just got to keep fighting you got keep finding ways to get better um you know our our goal you got to keep your eye on the prize you know our goal is to be playing our best basketball in

April May and June and we’re going to have some setbacks uh sometimes you got to take a step back to take two forward a lot of times in this league it doesn’t always go your way it’s not supposed to uh but I think the hard times is what is

Going to build that resiliency in us that that character that we need uh because we we’ve had to G through we’ve gone through stretches where we know we won a lot of games so far and then there’s some games where we wish we you know could get back but the only thing

You can do is just stay focused on your controllables what we can control keep great attitude you know I have a list of kind of No Excuses no complaining um no uh brilliant jerks you know we we have like some montra they get tired of me

Saying the same stuff over and over but again I’ve been around this league a long time and you know you got to build a positive culture you got to stay positive with each other um but you got to hold each other accountable too you got to have the hard conversation of

Ways that we got to get better uh but at the end of the day we all want the same thing and that’s the win you know we’re all in this together uh I know what Giannis wants I know what Dane wants I know what Brooke wants you know I know

What John wants I know what my staff want I know what I want and when you’re align um you know you’re going to bring the best out of each other because it’s we have organization full of High character people I know Mar went to the her last night in his post interview and

Said I think I need a clad or something like that was yeah see and and shout out to my young guys you know AJ Green Maron Chris uh they were with the her last night uh did a tremendous job and went in that game and I thought they played

Extremely well extremely well all of them did um including Tai Tai and Ma John had I want to say 23 24 points he played phenomenal so they did a good job and then they had a quick turnaround back here and had a good practice so uh

You know want to always show them our young guys you never know when you’re going to need them from a health perspective jannis was able to go today yes jannis uh I think he’s LIF uh listed as probable but he had a good practice today um just you know hoping uh he’s

Ready to go tomorrow anyone else uh no no Jay had a great practice you know every everyone else was there
