Pacers lose Siakam’s Debut + Raptors deadline trade targets

Let’s talk about Pascal Siakam’s debut with the Indiana Pacers. The Raptors will keep close eye on the Pacers, not only because they have one of the franchise’s longest-tentured icons in Siakam, but because the Raptors own 2 Pacers picks (24, 26).

The Pacers were cooked defensively. Haliburton wasn’t himself. And the Blazers were highly motivated to make a strong point.

We’ll also talk Raptors trades. Fire up the trade machine and see what type of roster we can build up. I’ll take your call-ins. As always, I’ll play the part of opposing GM. Make me an offer I can’t refuse.

  1. So, now the Raps are all about making other teams better while they wallow around in losing and hoping for a better tomorrow? The Raps are turning into a feeder team for the NBA's American teams. How long before SB asks out after he signs his rookie extension if the Raps remain an annual Lottery team? SB is now doing 4th Q iso ball stopping the offense like Pascal did.

My fun prediction: The NBA is a business and Toronto just made two teams (NY, Ind) much better- their reward? NBA will make sure the Raps jump into top 6 in the Lottery draft.

  2. It's hard to understand where the Raptors are heading. That's been a problem for a couple of years, and the Siakam trade has done nothing to clarify the matter. The OG trade gave us a direction, but the Siakam trade has muddied the waters. The consensus is that the Raptors did okay. Bill Simmons had Siakam rated as the 60th-best player and not worth a max contract. He liked the trade. I understand the contract issue. But it still seems that we got cents on the dollar and should have insisted on one of the Pacers' young pieces. Bruce Brown is a most valuable piece on a contender, but that's not the Raptors. The draft picks may not give us a single rotation player. I'm not sentimental about Siakam and understand that he had to go. But it's hard to see how we can be a better team next year or in the near future. The betting seems that Brown will be traded and may be coupled with picks, GTJ (as you suggested), and/or Poetl. They certainly have value, but we are not likely to get a player with tremendous upside or a starter to replace Pascal. Maybe when the dust clears, we will be in full rebuild mode, however, without expecting to snag a high-value player in the 2024 draft. Next year will be a "trust the process" year 1. To be honest, I am low on sleep and a little cranky

  3. Rob when stupid make stupid comments don’t even let it bother you, I’d just quietly block them and continue with my show.

  4. Outside of FTs and Threes, it was a decent game for Siakam..

He’s gonna have to shoot better though, since pacers lets them fly!

  5. Had to laugh. OG first game with Knicks said he didn't know what he was doing so just kept cutting. Bruce Brown said much the same only he kept screening for SB since it worked. So much for basketball XnO's. The only plan is to get the best shooters.

  6. Thought neismith and mathirun looked horrible, tunnel vusion dribbling into an crowd, never getting off the ball forcing way too much

  7. Jeremy Grant is a better player than Pascal. If Grant played with good players and other Stars like all championship teams do he would be a Champion. If Steph Curry play on bad teams he would never be a champion, Ever.
When a persons action says he is something no one can use words to negate a person achievements.
Alvin Williams is doing a Great Job. Every talent is inclusive in life not just a culture that puts wall between peoples goals and future achievements. If Denver gave up on Jokic they would not achieve what they did 2023.
Every fruit must be put down into the ground first before it can grow into a fruit tree and such is the blue print for life.

If the Raptor get 5th pick Ill be happy, if they give San Antonio 10 that only means winning more games and fan enjoyment.

Only talks missing in every conversation thus far is Raptors focusing on signing free agent
This means Its all about the off season, which means tanking is also a option.
As a fan If Raptors tank I'm happy same way because as long as you have goals and plan to achieving higher heights from those goals. Some people are near sighted some are far sited so they wont all see the same thing

  8. Like the lakers trade for Rui and Gabe, also the thunder trade wasn't too bad either. I'm sure Raptors can work with Rui.

  9. Pacers are awful in defense. Rotations are terrible and Turner was a pylon.. free layups.. If this is their defense they're screwed

  10. Nickname suggestion for Scottie: Chameleon
