Lauri’s usage % is down from last year. This can partly be put down to the extra attention he’s getting from opposing team’s, but it’s still concerning.

It’s even below his 2nd year with the Bulls…

Sexton is playing the best ball of his life. Fonteccio is better than last year. Kris Dunn is better. We added Keyonte George AND John Collins.

Yeah, makes sense his usage went down a touch.

  3. There’s been some analysis done on the Jazz offense that explains this a bit. Really like the breakdown in [this video](https://youtu.be/FkbbhowRAVY?si=GwExFpxQ-V0Sh-wY) in particular.

What I take away from this is that the Jazz offensive sets have many different “branches” off the initial screen / action, and a lot of times try to divert attention away and confuse defenders. For this reason, Lauri’s role can sometime end up being more of a decoy than the initial option. Sexton and Clarkson create their own shot when they can, which Lauri rarely does in our offense – and in games like last night, it may mean Clarkson and Sexton end up taking many more shots.

I guess my TL;DR is that it’s hard to fault the usage when it’s been working so well for the team. There may have been a few shots from Clarkson and Sexton that should have been diverted to Lauri but nobody makes the right play every possession.
