When your defense is terrible you’re going to struggle beating any team

If you listened carefully, a lot of critics were very concerned about our defense as soon as the Dame trade happened. We gave up all those runs to the Heat in the playoffs, then went and got worse POA defense.

So you’re saying theirs a chance.

We blew out Boston and haven’t lost to Detroit like another top team in the East at least. We split with Cleveland. Pacers though yeah 😭

tyrese and tatum are the same problem for which our best current solution is Jae Crowder

We have the offense to keep up with any team, it when the shots aren’t falling we no longer have to defense to keep us in games

Our main struggle is the teams with fast, shifty guards that can shoot like the Cavs with Mitchell and Garland or the Pacers with Haliburton. We just don’t have anyone to guard them, and when they inevitably start getting big momentum built we can’t keep up.
We don’t struggle as horribly as I thought we would against the teams with great wings though. We blew out the Celtics at home and near mounted a huge come back against them, and (outside of the last game) we handled the Knicks pretty easily. We don’t shut down the elite wings, but we can counter them pretty well.
We badly need a good perimeter defender at the 2 to pair with Dame to guard the opponent’s best guard. It’s probably unlikely, but Dejounte Murray would be an amazing fit if he can even be half of what he was as a defender at San Antonio.
