KD wonders why he isn’t in the GOAT conversation…

What hasn’t he done y’all?

I’d start with… win a championship without joining a team that was 73-9 before he joined.

he hasn’t been the best player in the league at any point since entering the league

I think two rings with the Thunder could have put him in the convo but the two with the warriors just don’t mean much to anyone. I think he was and still is a better overall player than Steph and the best player on the warriors when he won his rings, but there are legit a minimum of 10 other guys in the league that could have accomplished the same thing on that dubs squad

Public perception is a big reason why not. He has *some* accolades but right now not enough time has passed to forget about what he did. I’m sure after he’s long retired the narrative might change, might. You know what, probably not.

I think it’s cuz when the going gets tuff KD gets to going. No heart. Soft like charmin.

Without joking, I think the actual reasons that he’s not in that convo is

    1. The context around his championships/ finals mvps. I don’t have to explain the context to you guys (plus if I do, I will cry)

    2. his habit of choking in big playoff moments, whether it be blowing a 3-1 lead to the warriors or the one shoe size too big 3 point shot.

Overcoming something. He’s never worked deeper into the playoffs with a set of teammates/ coaches to finally bring a city a chip. There is no fanbase that feels championed by KD (because he has chosen not to conform to fandom in that way, which is his prerogative), therefore no one to really champion him in return. The only things that feel earned and undeniable are scoring/ efficiency accolades, and even their value becomes qualified by the evolution of the game.

Because you have constantly made the dumbest career decisions. You leave a great situation with the Thunder to go ring chasing and then give up the chance to “win” more rings to go play with Kyrie?!?

To be the best you have to beat the best not join the best…
