The UTAH JAZZ Is SCARING The NBA.

The Utah Jazz are the hottest team in the NBA they have won 12 of their last 14 they have won six straight they have won eight straight at home and they went wire to wire tonight but I think that this team is showing that it can continue to improve and that’s our

Objective is to keep getting better as a group every day the Utah Jazz is scaring the NBA and that sounds surprising for as long as anyone can remember the Utah Jazz has been one of the most subpar teams in the entire league since the80s it’s either this team is good enough to

Compete for a top spot in the playoffs or is just in the middle of the pack unable to get a good pick in the lottery a few seasons ago the Jazz looked like it could actually compete for a championship with Donovan Mitchell and Rudy goar leading the team to the top

Seed in the west but they couldn’t perform it whenever it mattered most eventually the relationship between Mitchell and goar ended sour causing the team to trade both of them one of the best moves that the Jazz did in 2022 was to trade Mitchell to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Lori maranan

The finished seven-footer broke out last season became an Allstar and won the most improved player award but even with Mark hanon surprising people with his Stellar Talent the Jazz couldn’t make the playoffs finishing 12th in the west their 37 win 2023 to 23 season wasn’t

Even good enough to land the Jazz a good pick in the 2023 NBA draft causing people to think that maybe this squad would still be mediocre during the 2023 to 24 season true enough the Jazz didn’t look like a playoff team to start the season there were no major additions to

This squad other than the athletic power forward John Collins who can be productive but to say the least isn’t a game-changing star so in a way it was pretty understandable that the Jazz wasn’t going to make any noises this season Mark Canon is still playing like

Like a star but the Jazz started with a 4 to1 record before the finished star went down with an injury 15 games into the season while marinan was out the team struggled while will hardy the team’s 36-year-old coach was tinkering with his lineups the Jazz even suffered an embarrassing 50-point loss to the

Dallas Mavericks on December 6th as everyone in the league started to write them out shortly after Markin in return the Utah Jazz started stringing together wins since the finished seven-footer returned the Jazz have won 14 of their 18 games to go over the 500 Mark after

Starting the season with a dismal 4 to1 record but while markkanen’s returns sparked the explosive run that the Jazz have been on he isn’t the only reason why the Utah Jazz is scaring the NBA The Finnish big man has been playing incredibly well and is looking like he’s

Set to make another All-Star return his numbers mirror his stats from last season but he has been a lot more efficient with his offense especially when he is playing power forward ever since will hardy took the head coaching job in 2022 he utilized the same three big lineup that the Cleveland Cavaliers

Used when they still had Mark Cannon Hardy started maranon at small forward and had three legitimate big men out on the floor the Jazz used the same rotation during the earlier part of the 2023 to 24 season by putting Mark cannon at small forward and allowing the trio

Of John Collins Walker Kesler and Kelly olenik to share the power forward and Center spots but this lineup didn’t always yield good results but Hardy has since found gold in Simone fio the Italian veteran from the European leagues while feno’s numbers don’t jump out of the roof he is a natural small

Forward who can stretch the floor guard opposing wings and make plays for others he also allowed allows maranan to play his natural power forward position instead on both ends of the floor the Jazz are now more focused on playing Modern NBA basketball with two athletic and versatile big men on the front court

And three legitimate perimeter players stretching the floor this change in the lineup has allowed the Jazz to play at a faster rate Utah is currently 10th in the NBA in pace so in a way it looks like abandoning the three big lineup has benefited the Jazz putting the the 6’9

John Collins at Center instead of power forward is also one of the reasons why the team has been playing at a much faster Pace Kelly olenik and Walker Kessler are good at what they do olenik can stretch the floor with his shooting meanwhile Kessler is a strong inside

Presence with his shot blocking and rebounding but they aren’t necessarily the most athletic players having Collins at Center allows the Jazz to play much faster because the guards know that he can outrun any Center in the league but there is one more change that made a huge difference to this team and it’s

Not even about the big men high-scoring guard Jordan Clarkson has always had the ability to create his own shots and make plays for others but he has almost always been better playing off the bench in 2021 he won the Sixth Man of the Year award playing behind Donovan Mitchell and Mike Conley

Uncharacteristically he started in all of the 61 games he played during the 2022 to 23 season while putting up great scoring numbers meanwhile Spitfire guard Colin seon played the role of Clarkson’s reliever Off the Bench both Clarkson and seon can play either point guard or shooting guard but will hardy probably

Would never start them in the same back court because they aren’t the best defenders and he knows that he needs someone who can give the team a scoring punch Off the Bench this is why Hardy has been starting Chris Dunn a defensive specialist at the point guard position

Clarkson reprised his role as the starting shooting guard during the early part of the 2023 to 24 season and it became clear that the Jazz weren’t winning even when he was exploding for 20 points on a regular basis but during the 14 to four record that the Jazz

Enjoyed from December 13 to January 13 the one constant has been Colin sexon at the shooting guard spot at one point in his career seon averaged more than 24 points on an efficient shooting clip when he was with the Cs but an injury in the 2021 to 22 season slowed him down

Since getting traded to the Jazz he hasn’t replicated the same numbers that he had at Cleveland partly because his touches and minutes dropped surprisingly sexon has been surging as a blade using his speed quickness and fearlessness to drive the Jazz’s offense forward he doesn’t have Clarkson’s shot creation abilities especially from the outside

But sexon is arguably better at pushing the Tempo and getting to the paint to create open shots for the rest of the team seon’s insertion into the starting lineup has allowed the Jazz to play at a faster Pace to bring the best out of Mark Canan and Collins he is currently

14th in the league in transition scoring with a 25.2% frequency and on fewer possessions compared to the other leaders in transition scoring Sexton’s ability to attack is also allowed the Jazz to become one of the leaders in points in the pain since December 13th

The only team H on that list is the OKC Thunder aside from Sexton the bench has been stepping up Clarkson is embracing his sixthman role once again and players like ton Horton Tucker keante George and Walker Kessler have been stepping up as young guys who could Electrify the

Offense Off the Bench George the Jazz’s prized rookie has been showing signs of steadiness as a point guard meanwhile Kesler can lock the paint and finish strong near the basket Utah is second in in the league in bench scoring behind only the high-powered Indiana Pacers offense proving that this team has not

Only been playing faster but also more balanced but another key stat on this team is its passing a season ago the Jazz finished 10th in the league in assists partly because Conley was still with the Jazz for half of the season but even without Conley during the 2023 to

24 season the Jazz has been passing the ball around a lot more than last season Utah currently ranked seventh in the NBA in assists at 28 per game the Jazz’s best player Mark Cannon is not known for his playmaking skills but the guards have been doing their part to find the

Team’s best scorers sexon George Dunn and Horton Tucker have been incredible in moving the ball around and finding the big man in their best spots even Clarkson who has always been a shoot first guard has bought into the team’s passing mentality by averaging a career high in assists simply put everything

About this team has been working on the offensive end in a modern-day era that hasn’t been focusing a lot on defense the Utah Jazz is scaring the NBA with its speed passing and inside scoring while only having one legitimate Allstar on the roster but how long can this last

One of the reasons why the Jazz struggled early was the injuries to the team’s best players maranan missed a few games and so did Clarkson Dunn and George forcing Hardy to dig deep into his roster who knows if this team can stay healthy all see season long but the

Defensive end is still a big part of what the Jazz needs to fix the offense is there but the defense has been less than Stellar for a team looking to make the playoffs Utah currently ranks 23rd in points allowed and 21st in defensive rating in fact the team has had a

Negative net rating for the season what this means is that the team still needs to be more consistent on the defensive end especially when the best players are suffering from an off night on offense the problem is that outside of Kesler and Dunn the Jazz doesn’t have strong

Defensive players on an individual level Hardy needs to find a way to convince his players to work harder as a defensive unit through a concerted effort lacking great defensive players is never an excuse for not being able to play defense as a team so if the jazz is

Able to solve the defense end of the floor Utah has a good chance of making the playoffs and giving everyone in the league a Scare

  1. After the Jazz started to play well they actually have had pretty good defensive ranking. They were in top 10 for a moment but I think they are somewhere around top 15 at the moment if you start the stat from the December from when they got good (I don't remember the exact dates) and look from there to now.

Oh and Kessler is really fast, he is often first guy in both ends. He just doesn't shoot well from three or from free throw line.
