Head Coach Jacque Vaughn after the Nets’ loss over the Clippers

Head Coach Jacque Vaughn after the Nets’ loss over the Clippers

LOVE IT, WAY TO GET AFTER IT. WE DID SOME REALLY GOOD THINGS TONIGHT. I THINK YOU TAKE A LOOK AT THOSE FIRST THREE QUARTERS, WHERE WE WERE ABLE TO BUILD A LEAD, GOT US TO THE FOURTH QUARTER, WHERE OUR COMPOSURE AND POISE WAS TESTED, AND YOU GIVE THEM CREDIT FOR MAKING A

LOT OF PLAYS. BUT IT’S NEVER, YOU KNOW, IN MY EYES, ONE PLAY. WHETHER IT IS YOU’RE UP 18, GOING INTO THE FOURTH QUARTER, AND YOU DON’T COME UP WITH A REBOUND, AND WESTBROOK SHOOTS A THREE IN THE CORNER. NOW IT’S 15. SO ALL THE PLAYS MATTER FOR US THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF THE

GAME. YEAH. >> WHEN YOU LOOK AT YOUR OFFENSE, COMING INTO THIS GAME BEING ABLE TO KNOCK DOWN SO MANY POINTS, YOU GUYS, ABLE TO KNOCK DOWN, MAKE SO MANY SHOTS, DEFENSIVELY WAS THERE ANY ADJUSTMENT THAT THE CLIPPERS DID MAKE TO KIND OF CONTAIN YOU GUYS IN THOSE LAST FEW MINUTES?

>> NO I THINK IT WAS ON US, REALLY. I THINK WE SLOWED DOWN, WHICH WAS TO THEIR ADVANTAGE. WE TRIED TO PICK OUR MATCHUPS, AND JUST THE NBA IS THE NOT GOING TO ALLOW YOU TO DO THAT. THEY WERE ABLE TO LOAD UP AND START BLITZING US A LITTLE

BIT, SENDING TWO PEOPLE AT A FEW GUYS. BUT WHEN WE WERE PLAYING FAST AND MAKING THEM REACT TO US, WE HAD THE ADVANTAGE. WHEN WE SLOWED THE BALL DOWN IN THE FOURTH QUARTER AND LET THEM USE THEIR SIZE, LENGTH AND STRENGTH AGAINST US, THIS IS WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN,

THIS IS WHAT I TOLD THE GROUP. >> YOU CORRECTLY POINTED OUT IT’S NOT ONE THING, A BUSTED COVERAGE OR BLOWN CALL. WHEN YOU HAVE FIVE MINUTES LIKE THAT, WHERE YOU GUYS DIDN’T SEEM TO HAVE A MENTAL RESPONSE, A WAY TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO STAUNCH THE BLEEDING, HOW DISAPPOINTING IS THAT THIS

DEEP IN THE SEASON THAT A RUN LIKE THAT COULD GO ON THAT LONG WITHOUT A RESPONSE? >> OH, I THINK IT JUST TELLS THAT YOU OUR GROUP IS STILL LEARNING LESSONS, SO WHETHER IT’S BEING ORGANIZED AFTER A FREE THROW, WHICH YOU HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO BE ORGANIZED

AND GET INTO A SET, GOUT THAT PIECE OF IT. WHETHER IT’S TAKING THE SHOTS THAT YOU WOULD NORMALLY TAKE THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF THE GAME THAT YOUR TEAMMATES EXPECT TO YOU TAKE, THAT PIECE OF IT. WHETHER YOU’RE UP SIX, WHETHER YOU’RE DOWN SIX. SO THOSE ARE LESSONS FOR US TO

LEARN, ESPECIALLY ON THE ROAD AGAINST A REALLY GOOD TEAM. >> DEFENSIVELY, YOU GUYS KIND OF HELD QIE AND GEORGE IN CHECK A LITTLE BIT, BUT THEN HOW WAS QIE ABLE TOE GET GOING OFFENSIVELY AGAINST YOU GUYS? >> YEAH, I THINK SOME OF THOSE FREEBIES, SO WHETHER WE MISSED

A SHOT AND THEY WERE ABLE TO GET KNOCKOUT TRANSITION THIS GROUP DOESN’T REALLY GET KNOCKOUT TRANSITION, THEY PLAY PRETTY SLOW AND METHODICAL AND GET IN THEIR SETS. I THINK THEY TOOK OVER ADVANTAGES, 20-SOME FAST BREAK POINTS TO GET OUT AND RUN, SO THAT PIECE, GET THEM GOING LAYUPS-WISE, AND AT THE END OF

THE DAY THOSE DUDES ARE SHOT MAKERS AND MADE SOME TOUGH SHOTS, GIVE THEM CREDIT. >> DEFENSIVELY YOU’VE BEEN IMPROVING SINCE THE PARIS TRIP, BUT TO GIVE UP A RUN LIKE THIS HOW I GUESS DISAPPOINTING AFTER YOU GUYS MADE SO MANY STRIDES DEFENSIVELY THE LAST THREE OR FOUR GAMES OR SO?

>> YEAH, I THINK WE MADE STRIDES TONIGHT ALSO, IT’S NOT ALL OR NOTHING. THE FIRST THREE QUARTERS YOU CAN SAY WE WERE PRETTY GOOD, WE GAVE UP 40-PLUS POINTS IN THE FOURTH. SO THAT PIECE OF IT, SO I THINK THERE WERE SOME GOOD THINGS THAT WERE DONE TONIGHT THAT WE CHALLENGED OUR GROUP

W. UNFORTUNATELY NIC GOT THE IN FOUL TROUBLE THAT HURT US A LITTLE BIT ALONG THE WAY, BUT IT DOESN’T TAKE AWAY FROM THE FACT THAT WE GOT BETTER TONIGHT AND WE ARE GETTING BETTER DEFENSIVELY. >> FOR THREE AND A HALF QUARTERS YOU GUYS PLAYED WITH A LOT OF PACE.

BOTH IN HOW YOU WERE RUNNING AND ALSO HOW YOU SCRAMBLED DEFENSIVELY. IN YOUR MIND, DID YOU GUYS SLOW DOWN? OR DID THEY DO SOMETHING TO SLOW YOU DISMOWN. >> NO WE SLOWED DOWN. WE SLOWED DOWN, TRIED TO MANIPULATE MATCHUPS. AND THAT’S NOT GOING TO WORK. NOT FOR OUR GROUP. WE CAN TRY IT.

AND SEE IF WE CAN BEAT DUDES ONE ON ONE, AND BUT THAT’S NOT HOW WE BUILT OUR LEAD. THAT BALL WAS PINGING AROUND. THEY DIDN’T KNOW WHO TO GUARD. MULTIPLE ACTIONS. RANDOMNESS. THAT PIECE OF IT GIVES YOU THE ADVANTAGE, WHETHER IT’S A CLOSEOUT, WHETHER IT’S A BLOWN COVERAGE.

BUT IF YOU LINE UP AND YOU AND I JUST SWITCH ANDRE STAY IN FRONT OF ME, THERE ARE SOME LONG, STRONG DUDES ACROSS THIS

  1. Keep this rotation We was very competitive with four future Hall of Famer’s my only critique is you should’ve let Lonnie walker play a little bit more

  2. Clippers won against the Nets 125-114 the final. The Nets will win against the Knicks this coming Tuesday. Noah Clowney will play against the Knicks. Nets will retake the series 18-25 this coming Tuesday against the Knicks. Brooklyn Nets will close out this coming Tuesday against the Knicks.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

  3. Sean marks needs to be fired. He isnt good at making trades, he isnt good at managing players and he is awful at hiring coaches. Fire him and JV and bring in a legit GM candidate before the deadline

  4. The Clippers went on a 22-0 run and not a single timeout was called! He then subs in Cam Johnson to go iso, takes the ball out of Cam Thomas’s hands, and runs the offense through Mikal Bridges with Dinwiddie as the primary ball handler. What’s worse is how he has a smile on his face when asked by the media to sum up what transpired. Jacque Vaughn is a loser, and never ceases to deflect from taking accountability! I hate him as a person, and wish Cam Thomas, Lonnie Walker and others were in better situations then this.

  5. that turnover coming out of the timeout hen we were up like 15 or so that led to an uncontested fast break completely changed the momentum. we dont have a trsuted closer who can handle the ball effectively , keep their cool., not turn it over and. get a bucket. cam is growing and becoming a star but he doesnt have the composure late game yet , and no one else does either

  6. Nets need to fire Vaughn. He’s in over his head. Sure may not be a top 15 talented team but the team should have been able to close this one out. Piss poor coaching.

  7. I supported Jacque to start the season. But he's been pretty bad the last 20 games. He's blaming the players but he's not taking any responsibility for the lineups he keeps throwing out there. Cam Johnson must be out there because of the money he makes because he doesn't give them much.

  8. Nets fans are all sick and tired of this smug of a coach. Zero accountability would rather pass the blame to the players when he’s supposed to represent the whole team. One thing he is good at is selling in the 4th quarter. Absolute disgrace
