POSTGAME REACTION: Miami Heat at Orlando Magic, 1/21/24.

Yeah certainly after the first quarter I mean um you know the the first quarter uh in the Atlanta game and the first quarter of this game I thought we were generating you know the right looks we just missed a lot of those open looks so

It can kind of skew you know what you think is going on um but I think those misses um and some of the turnovers momentum shifting turnovers uh even early in that game um affected our offensive uh you know mindset the rest of the game which it which it shouldn’t sometimes

The ball’s going to go in sometimes you you’re going to have you know rough patches during a game or a season um but you you as long as you’re generating the right you know type of looks um you can’t just be obsessed with the result even if it’s a little bit frustrating

And then you just grind through and you figure you know out how to um play some efficient basketball enough to be able to put yourself in a position to win and you know as the game went on it just uh compounded uh on us and um you know you

Also have to give Orlando a lot of credit you know they were very physical tonight they took us out of a lot of our um normal relief um actions and um kind of blew up a lot of our movement um and we didn’t you know react with force and

Detail uh instead just kind of flattened out um and our details uh just kind of got worse as the game went on and then you know Miss shots turnovers um and that’s kind of what you’re looking at when you talk about efficiency is it a matter of guys not running what they’re

Supposed to be running not doing it well enough or is it just the end of The Possession that you’re just not finishing The Possession yeah a little bit of uh everything and we’re going to get to work on this is you know and we have been working on this uh you know

Like I said um in December we were trending in in a better Direction and it’s just uh you know been a rough stretch for us offensively uh you know the last handful of games uh you also don’t want to totally overreact that’s what you know I want our group uh to

Understand you know after the Charlotte game you know we are feeling very good about where we were I I believe you know seven games uh over 500 and we felt that we were gaining some momentum and learning how to to win games and then all of a sudden a four game stretch

Where you know we are where we are um and you know there’s always going to be some disappointing uh parts of a season and you just have to Rally around each other and get to work and um and start to find Solutions and that’s what we’ll

Do your thoughts on the lineup where it stands now two games into this mix this rotation sort of obviously two losses but are you seeing anything there that says push forward are you seeing anything yeah um look this is not necessarily about the the lineups or the

The rotation right now it’s it’s about uh you know having the fortitude to play through rough stretches uh that’s going to happen in this league regardless of who you are you have to develop a collective grit uh you know I I say this all the time you can find different ways

To win while you’re working through what you’re trying to work through your identity how you want to play a flow players being in Rhythm uh all of that type of thing uh you just put yourself in a position to win by grinding it out uh and we weren’t able to do that uh

Tonight you know and um you know that’s what we we’ll get to work on we’re not going to uh feel sorry for ourselves nobody cares about you know what what we’re going through uh it’s it’s about getting together um rallying around each other um and then coming up with Solutions when we get

Back to practice is it hard for guys or difficult to adjust to different roles obviously with Kyle out uh yeah but that’s not an excuse we’ve been doing that all year come on we can come up with any excuse and the excuses will only lead us to

Misery like what do we want to do that that’s not the solution for sure uh I can think of a bunch of different things that we can do um starting on Tuesday at practice that’s not one of them for sure uh because that won’t get us anywhere um

And nobody in the locker room will will go to that is it you know like every team has to go through that yeah that’s what I’m saying figure out how to win and we have that ability how much of the challenges it for guys to continue process resol when going off yeah it’s

Not like this is like a a 25 game like let’s get to work we’re going to have a a day off or uh tomorrow um we’re going to have a great Gala tomorrow night or we’re going to roll up our sleeves and get to work on Tuesday you

Know this is literally one week after we felt that our season was starting to turn uh Jimmy’s coming back feeling like we’re getting healthy uh seven games above 500 this happens in in the league and it it’s all about how you respond to it and so we’re going to Rally around

Each other um get to work find some solutions and grind through this you know that’s that’s the the character you have to develop and reveal during long NBA Seasons all right the critical mindset of just as spell Sen’s press conference grinding through this period getting to work and getting back to winning because

You guys know how to win um I mean we want to we don’t want to let a couple three games affect us uh you know we got to get back to our Basics you know it’s uh it’s a switch up um you know guys coming back being healthy so

You know that’s only thing we can do is really just sacrificing buying and winning uh and everybody just worry about all everything else later and just really focus on winning you’ve been off on offense I mean various times over the years but today three 24 second violations early High turnovers low

Shooting percentage what’s what’s F what’s not happening in the offense that it gets to that degree U but like we just get stagnant like I said we got guys coming back um you know we’ve had guys in and out of lineups we’ve had I don’t know how many different lineups

But biggest thing for us is we’re on a rough PCH right now and you know we got to dig our way out of it you guys have dealt moving Parts All Season what’s been different about this stretch though where guess now you have most guys healthy what’s what’s different about

The you know this and other stretches coach got to make difficult situations uh or decisions um you know and I I feel like coach has done a great job of trying to handle that uh you know getting guys in and out uh trying to figure out a rotation where everybody

Can be happy um and it’s it’s difficult right now um so you know for us it’s just like I said you just got to really give in the winning and do whatever needs necessary to get the win thanks for you and just work on the things that need to be

Shored up particularly offensively that you guys know how to win as a group and it’s not not a time to go nuts yeah um you know it’s a funky time of the year right now um for us um you know you know coach is very uh good at what he does

And knows what he’s talking about so you know it’s about you know kind of everyone’s taking the time understand this time of the year is a little bit tough and you know we got our our three guys like I said I don’t know how many games they played now together but you

Know we got to get those three guys on the same page and get us get them going said this is the moving parts and getting most guys back healthy and adjusting to that yeah I think that’s part of it um you know we haven’t had a

Full Slate of players for a while I mean you know we’ve been in the lineups and uh adjustments so it’s you know it’s one of those things where guys have just finally getting back and and we got to try to find a rhythm and once we hit a

Rhythm in the groove will’ll be all right what’s this adjustment like for you to this different role and sort of how is it playing out for you I mean it’s uh for me you know as a professional of course I’m disappointed you know to like to to have to adjust

But I haven’t played well in the last couple weeks and I understand that and coaches um made make a decision and no that was a terrible play um the coaches made a decision to you know try to move and Sh some things and and get a different flow so you know as a

Professional of course I would you know it’s it’s an adjustment but I have to make it and you know figure out how to help the team win from the outside it would look like it’s it’s sort of a a major thing you know it’s a big deal you

Started the first 35 games but internally how has it been playing out has you know have you and spoke been on the same page or or did you just get to the same page I don’t know I mean I don’t know exactly your question um I understand what you’re saying but I

Really don’t know how the going to answer that question I mean me and SPO the first 35 games you know first whatever we’ve always been on the same page and um you know he just made his adjustment so you know he’s the head coach so we have to have to grow with

What he says and and figure it out has he asked her of certain things

  1. so jacquez is clearly mvp of this team and most valuable rookie. wemby can stat pad in san antonio but his losses are not impressive. spurs have gotten worse this year with this 'generation talent'. when lebron came he turned the cavs franchise around. wemby isnt nearly that. in fact jacquez effects winning more than wemby. and jacquez wont win rookie of the year but hes the mvp of the heat.

  2. if herro wants to be the scoring guy then he has to score but to me he is better as space shooter. hes not good with the ball. he is the worst ball handler ive ever seen especially for a guard. hes the worst ball handler on the team. hes a great shooter but when he starts that stupid swaying and he dribbles around i just look away from the tv cuz whats coming is a turnover or a brick.

  3. lowry will take the blame but at least he doesnt turn it over very much and he at least doesnt ball hog or shoot bad shots. i dont like spo benching lowry like this just to make his point. if spo wants to stand by this whole 'we dont panic, stay the course' bullshit then why would he single lowry out like hes done. to me if u want to single someone out its herro and jimmy for half assing the game. herro is useless unless hes making 3s and jimmy is useless unless he is playing with effort, which has been very rare this year. we all say 'oh jimmy will show up in the playoffs'. hes had a few good games, i like how he played last game before this one. but this half assing is unnaceptable if he wants to be seen as the miami 'guy'. to me he needs to take his stupid wigs off and play fucking basketball or else jacquez the rookie is the face of the franchise now.

  4. Spo look bra, this is not it. Our team SOFT is hell, we need a fucking SCORE Hero is not it,wen he's off he's trash he has no defense, then Lowrey is beat down he's DONE why is he on the floor he give us NUTTIN, Spo not talking bout shit. We needs TRADES, every team is trading getting better but us, this team will not go anywhere, plus change the plays the nba knows everything we doing, same shit over and over. Double bam put pressure on Hero n we done, TRADE EVERYTHING keep bam, Jimmy, the rookie, Duncan

  5. Spo and Pat is stubborn and refuses to make any significant trades. We deserve to lose in the first round with dumb underdog mentality

  6. Spo thanks for your very detailed explanation but when you are gonna take full responsability of shaking up your roster 3 in a rown and counting and you are telling us do not over react pleae seems like you are getting same approach like Duncan once you got the big contract you start doing shit as a team

  7. Every game we speak about the same shit dude just trade or stfu this team is garbage since lebron
