The Sacramento Kings Are WEIRD This Season

The Sacramento Kings Are WEIRD This Season

[Applause] the Sacramento Kings lost to the Indiana Pacers tonight 126 to 121 and though it looked like they had a chance to tie it at the end it was really a fake comeback because the Pacers were just controlling the game the entire way the Kings got it

Within four a couple times in the third quarter but the Pacers were just getting into the paint constantly the defense was just absent and of course the penetration just led to threes and ones at the bucket Benedict Maan was getting whatever he wanted in the fourth quarter

And I wanted to talk about the Kings because they have just been weird for the last month I would say all season but at least through 34 games they were 21 and 13 and when you compare that to last year through 34 games they were 19

And 15 they had the best start basically through 35 games since the 0405 season I believe and now through 41 games they’re 23 and 18 and last year through 41 games they were 23 and 18 and the King season this year is just weird because obviously dear and fox and demonis

Sabonis have been playing really well but I feel like with their losses there’s just no in between they either you know win they win comfortably sometimes they win in a close game in their losses it’s either a bad loss or they get blown absolutely the out

Or more recently like with the Bucks and the Suns they absolutely just blow games that they were in control of the whole time and and there’s just a few things that really concern me with this Kings team one let’s just get this out the way I don’t think there’s a trade out there

That’ll make the Kings any better without giving up assets well at least for me the cost benefit analysis isn’t worth it for me to give up more assets to you know get somebody in that will marginally make them better I think most of their answers might be solved in the

Off season or you know through internal Improv movement or just having these guys just walk in more defensively I also forgot to mention Keegan Murray is having a great year and they should never trade him cuz that’s like if you want to talk about a blue chip asset

That’s a blue chip asset but the king should never consider trading Keegan Murray I like his upside but just the trends that I see with this team is very concerning one their free throws their free throw shooting is just really bad and it starts with their best players

Dearon Fox and deas sabonis both of them are shooting worse from the free throw line compared to last year dearn Fox is at 72% down from 78% last season deonis sabonis is down from 74% last season to 67% this season and that’s not including the game tonight the kings were an atrocious 18

Of 32 from the line and it’s just fresh ating watching them shoot free throws cuz they are just leaving money on the table Malik monk who is normally a good free throw shooter was one for six missed a big free throw at the end there

When it looked like the kings were had a chance to tie it down three but that’s just been a troubling Trend this year because as a team the kings are dead last in free throw percentage at 72 1 12% and the Raptors who are 29th are

Over a % higher than them as a team so that’s not good then you go to you know some of the Kings wases this year have just been awful well they’re on a four game losing streak now the Pacers were just getting the ball in the paint all night tonight getting whatever they

Wanted the fact that you allow 126 points without Tyrese halberton or Pascal cakam who will be making his debut in Portland you lose to the Sixers without Joel embiid and I can tell you from experience the Sixers are generally awful without Joel embiid but you don’t

Even just lose that game you get blown out and it doesn’t look like you’re going to take control at any point during that game you have a bad loss against the Pelicans at home and by the way they haven’t won a game against the Pelicans this year they absolutely got

Destroyed by them they had a bad loss against the Charlotte Hornets a bad loss against the Trailblazers on the road they have just had some really weird losses this year and I think it just stems from their defense one because aside from Keegan Murray they’re just

Really small when it comes to the guard and Wing position dearon Fox is a really good two-way player but again I’m just talking about wings size really Keegan Murray and Kessler Edwards who doesn’t even play are like sizable wings I forgot to mention Harrison Barnes and that’s been a with Harrison Barnes this

Year you just forget he’s out there I can’t tell you the amount of King’s friends I have that are absolutely sick of Harrison Barnes and I really can’t blame them and that’s another issue some of the king’s ancillary pieces that played well last year have just been bad

This year yeah when you look at Harrison Barnes statline you know nearly 11 points a game nearly 40% from three but I’m telling you when you’re watching these games he’s terrible defensively the fact that he is 68 and the Kings kind of need him to be that 34 Swiss

Army knife the fact that he is averaging three rebounds a game is also terrible down from 4 and a half last year which you know is not is still not good but at least it was something defensively people Blow by you people out muscle you for an offensive rebound and then there

Are just stretches in the game where you’re just nowhere to be found you’re not taking any shots and on the nights you do take a lot of shots or a lot for Harrison Barnes he just doesn’t shoot well from the field like tonight he only took two shots and I guess Mike Brown

Was just sick of it because you know he was nowhere to be found in the third quarter or the fourth quarter for most of the third quarter excuse me and they ended up closing with monk herder Keegan domos and fox Barnes only played 22 minutes and speaking of Kevin herder

Even though he did play well tonight Kevin herder has just had a down year across the board like there’s just no way around it when that trade first happened two summers ago I was a big fan of the trade I liked Kevin herder I like his game he’s a really good shooter but

There’s just something with his confidence right now and yes he had a good game against the Milwaukee Bucks and he had a good game tonight but not counting tonight if you go back through his last 15 games and this includes games where he had 17 26 points Etc he

Is averaging eight points a game on 30% shooting from three and he was a key cog last year in that demonis sabonis Kevin herder dribble handoff action that was kind of one of the main cogs in the Kings offense and really this season it just feels like the Kings will just lose

If dearen Fox and deonis aonis both have bad games or one has a good game and one has a bad game it feels like more than ever they both have to be really great for the Kings to have a shot where last year it was more of oh okay there’s a

Lot of wrinkles in this king’s offense Malik monk by the way is also having a great year I don’t want to discredit him but it just feels like the Kings just lack the Deep depth on their roster that they did last year or you know simply the main guys in their rotation like

Kevin herder Harrison Barnes are playing bad then when you have to close lineups with Malik Monk and like Chris dwarte you’re not really fixing your defensive issues you are fixing your offensive issues obviously with Malik monk out there but again the defense is still 20th there’s still a

Lot of points in the paint being allowed and I don’t know it just feels like the king season is weird this year like there are just some games this year were you know remember last year where Terrence Davis would have you know the random just 30o heater off the bench

Like the Kings just don’t quite have that Terren Davis type to help out you know the bench or to provide a solution for a different lineup just in case or you know you felt better about the king’s backup center situation I just feel like the depth isn’t quite there

And then the guys who were part of the main rotation last year that are this year you know the returning players some of them are just not playing well I still think they’re a good team in the grand scheme of the west but they were a good team last year now I guess

Obviously we’ll see in the playoffs but I mean I’m only talking about right here right now and right now this King season is just weird I feel like when you compare this season to last season this season they just have more internal problems just in terms of players not playing well and

Just structurally how they’re built and I just don’t know if they have an answer for it when compared to last year I felt like they could at least you know lean on the identity of their offense now I don’t know what their identity is they’re 14th in offense they’re 20th in

Defense and whenever they lose they absolutely get their asses whooped or they lose to bad teams teams they should beat or like we’ve seen with the Bucks and the Suns games they just blow these games so I don’t know what the fix is Kings fans I am curious to know what

You’ve noticed that’s different about this year’s team compared to last year cuz again through 34 games this year the Kings had a better record compared to the first 34 games of last year but now we’re through 40 games 41 if you’re counting tonight and the Kings virtually

Have the same record but when you watch them it just seems like they have more problems so if I missed anything thing I’d love to know Kings fans thoughts give this video a like and a subscribe thank you for listening just wanted to talk about the Kings because they have

Been a little weird this season not going to lie

Another day another blowout loss (that had a semi-fake comeback at the end) for the Sacramento Kings. They’ve been odd this season. Now through 41 games they have the exact same record as they did last year despite through 34 games having a record 8 games above .500 this season, which was the best start since the 05′ season.

De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis have been great, Keegan Murray has made the second year leap, and Malik Monk is an under-the-radar sixth man of the year candidate.

Yet this team gets absolutely destroyed in their losses or lately they just blow games they were in control off.

I talk about what I’ve seen from them this year.
