Murray gives us some starting guard defense which we definitely need.
Also DLo’s contract basically needs to be traded for someone that has a longer term contract. If DLo continues to play as well as he is now, he would be smart to opt out of his player option and sign somewhere for a big deal – more than the Lakers can afford (we’re in a tight salary cap situation this offseason). Or if he goes back to playing not as good, he’s going to opt into his player option and in this case you have someone who’s not worth the money.
I like DLo. I love the idea of what Dejounte can bring to the team both short and long term. It’s a smart deal to make.

I understand both decisions. Wont be upset whichever route they go. D’Lo is playing the best he’s played in his career. On the other hand, there’s more than enough sample size to see that he falls off in the playoffs. It’s reasonable to be anxious about the sustainability. He had a goose egg game vs denver and had to be benched in the third game. Doesn’t change the fact D’Lo is a great player in this league, but Murray is a better player. Rob did his job as a manager to offer him more money in exchange for him to remove his trade veto, so D’Lo always knew a trade was a possibility

Honesty, I want DLO to stay. I thought we finally found our franchise PG when we acquired him back last year. He’s not the best defender but I don’t expect a lot of these PGs in league to be. He’s a floor general and can score in 3 levels.
With that said, his contract doesn’t do us any good this offseason if he decided to opt out. I guess Lakers gonna have to do what’s best for the franchise’s future. 🤷🏻♂️
