I have been watching Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets for a while now and it is crazy how some people think his game is boring. He is the best player in the league in my opinion and steps up when you need to win a playoff series or a NBA championship. that was on full display when Nikola matched up against the Boston Celtics and showed the league why he needs to be double-teamed.

Take away Embiid free throws and he has a hard time being top 5. He might of had 41 but Jokic dominated him under the hoop. Give Jokic the same foal calls in that game he is at 40 points to.

Jokic is almost like a bigger, less athletic version of Larry Bird playing center. He is just a damn great all around basketball player and has no weaknesses.

Embiid is definitely more physical and athletic but Jokic is much more versatile, smart and visionary, he brings team play back to a game that had lost its way, he doesn't give a f about stats but cares about winning – his wits are off the charts and a he is a joy to watch. His footwork comes straight out of the book and he is much faster than he looks. i have followed the NBA for 40 years and he is a top 5 of all times in my book

If lebon and Embiid were forced to stop dislodging defensive players, half of their game is gone. And I understand recency bias, but just because the league hasn't seen a Bird type player in thirty years, doesn't mean Jokic is LJB, not even close. And all of you geniuses who think the athletes are to big and fast now, the best player in the world is also the slowest guy on the court.
I've been a Jokić/Denver fan since he started playing in the NBA (not lying, I'm from Serbia also) and while he is playing great this season, somehow I believe that people don't talk about Minnesota just as Denver was out of the spotlight pre-championship. Timbs gave Denver the hardest time in the playoffs last season and I think they are the quiet contenders this year…

Nikola has 2 weaknesses (imo)
#1) His defense. Big shocker, cuz everyone knows this. But probably not in the way they think. Cuz he's a great pass deflector. He's got quick hands. Pretty solid at steals. He's awesome at blocking shots from behind orrrr while standing under the rim. He has extremely high level IQ. He's an A+++ rebounder. He is pretty solid at coming off his man while defending the pick & roll to help set up a double team.
BUT– for being a 7 footer– he severely LACKS that killer cerebral shot blocking mentality, and EVERY OTHER TEAM knows it & EXPLOITS it! All too often he seems afraid of racking up fouls– so he pussyfoots around & allows way too many guys to blow right past him on their way to a drunk or a layup. Now… on the other hand, I do actually think it's smart of him to be wary of fouls… cuz he knows the Nuggets NEED him on that court to have aaanyyy chance of winning. This could be a very back & forth argument to have with anybody.
#2) His lack of the "mamba mentality" …teams are starting to figure out how to play against Jokic. Notice I said figure out, NOT actually able to solve & stop him yet. But I've noticed that teams are going the route of defending Jokic, by allowing him to play 1v1 on an island against whoever is defending him. They're learning fast, that IF you send another defender his way to try & double team… he will quickly & easily burn you by throwing a dime to 1 of the many knock down shooters that Denver has so ingeniously surrounded him with. But what I'm ultimately getting at… is that IF teams are going to try to take away Jokic having 10+ assists every night… and they're actually daring him to score allll he can, then that's EXACTLY what he needs to do. Punish the ever living hell outta them! Get to work! Get nasty! Take it to the hole! Start cookin! Go hard in the paint! However. Whichever. Whyever. Whoever. Throw down 50 pts every damn night if you have to. Unleash the beast & let's go win championship #2!!

Embid didn't start playing b-ball until he was 16 ,he still is learning the game, barely played in college, Jokic knows alot more. In Europe players are taught how to pass and more fundamentals. Embid is improving his knowledge of the game( Nick Nurse is teaching him more, Doc taught him what he could) if his body holds up he could become more like Jokic. Jokic knows position ,how to get there, and be there where to put the ball and direct teammates, without hitting the wood. Embid needs to stand up more hitting the hardwood as much as he does will shorten his career needs to pick his places and work on balance
