  1. FYI: It specifically says having more picks to trade in the **off-season** (depending on what the Pels do with our 2024 first or defer to the 2025 first) ~ also means a potential option is to not send out the 2029 first during this trade deadline.

Mentioned this exact trade in the summer, could make more sense

  3. WordsAreSomething

The media loves the Lakers on the bubble this time a year because every day they can just say shit like this that isn’t going to actually happen

  4. Odd-Direction9452

They gonna take this out of context when he was referring to this off-season lol.

  5. Filip_N997

So Utah got Lauri and Sexton,3 firsts and 2 swaps and you think AR,other players plus 3 picks is enough LoL

  6. isit65outsideor

Exactly why you keep the picks for this summer. Every year someone becomes available. You could use Gabe, Rui, Jared, or Reaves for a B list All Star this offseason.

  7. litlegoblinjr

If the Lakers are going to mortgage the rest of their future I rather it be for these caliber of all-stars than Dejounte Murray

  8. LebronsPinkyToe

I’m 100% on board with not making a move just to make a move. Wait till the off-season to figure out what DLo, Lebron are doing, fire Darvin Ham, Vando becomes trade eligible, 3 firsts and healthy Gabe Vincent

With the new second tax apron and CBA rules being phased in, teams like Boston, phoenix and even the Nuggets aren’t going to be able to keep or sign all the good free agents.

  9. Sea-Bottle2625

Trade reaves rui wood and picks for Trae and Jalen Johnson

  10. Donovan would be so nice in a perfect world. Him + AD going forward would be great

  11. Uberballer

They better have really good intel if they’re going for this kind of move. First off, D’lo might opt out which may complicate salary matching. Second LeBron would have to be ok “punting” on the season (though really this team in theory should have enough to put up a good run as is, if it weren’t for the abysmal coaching/rotations) and be willing to stick around. Third and most importantly they better know that they’d be in the lead for said piece. Like for instance if the plan is to go in for Mitchell they better make sure that the New York teams aren’t just going to blow their offer out of the water.

Cause if they do what then? What if Mitchell ends up a Knick and the Hawks say they’re not moving Trae no matter what the Lakers offer? What then? Punt yet another season? We’re not dealing with a 26 year old Kobe here we’re dealing with a 39 year old LeBron in a league where more and more incredible talent comes in each year making the league deeper and harder to consistently win in. If they really plan to win around AD and LeBron there’s no time to waste, hell too much time was wasted going in for the wrong “star” and coach to begin with.

Idk I’d only be down for this if they’re absolutely sure they have Mitchell in the bag. Trae, while I’m sure he’ll completely unlock AD’s full offensive potential idk if he’d be a good fit with an aging LeBron and if he’d be even decent enough defensively to truly be star #3.

This is us still paying for the Westbrook trade. I still to this day have no idea why we were the team that gave up a first in that deal when he was largely considered one of the 2 worst contracts in the league at the time for good reason. Sigh.

  12. PhillyPizzasteak

I love how the clowns in r/nba are freaking out at the idea that the Lakers are getting another star.

  13. Well this is news I haven’t read before. Finally something not regurgitated even tho is sounds farce.

  14. RiversofJell0

Jeannie Buss is demanding Pelinka to sign Oubre or Kuzma. She heard boner fide star and got real excited

  15. KingNephew

Or how about you just trade for Murray. Try to compete this year and then when LeBron inevitably leaves in 1-2 years, already be an attractive place for another true star to play.

I’d rather get Murray for a D’lo/JHS/1st than every good rotation player + 3 firsts and likely swaps for Trae or Mitchell. Shit isn’t guaranteed. LeBron leaving soon so cap space won’t be an issue.

  16. goldenbzzz

You can bring prime michael jordan in here and we still aint winning shit with darvin hamas

  17. CabbageStockExchange

Can’t wait for the SAS rant where he goes

“No disrespect but Reddish is a bonafide scrub, he can’t play!”

  18. Trae Young LMAO that would be so fucking dumb. Dlo’s defense is miles better than Trae’s and that’s not a good thing

  19. doghead6969

Trae would be super fun with AD longterm but not sure he would be enough to win a chip all depends on who else is on the team

  20. pinktwhite

Mitchell or Trae next to AD? I would like to see it

  21. Public-Product-1503

No shit. However Mitchell seems to be slowly improving every year, this year n last he’s improved defensively n would by impact metrics be the second best guard in the east after Hali . And one of the 5 best in league. He’s arguably been better this year then AD ( epm agrees) and since ist better then Bron . Don’t see how we can offer enough for him tbh. Unless he asked the cavs n told teamd he’d come here or only be a one year expiring I can’t see it.

Trae – not sure why hawks do that unless he too is fed up n wants out because he’s like their best player in maybe their franchise history . Anyone saying no to him is an idiot btw. Possibly his value has dropped enough that it’s possible this summer for every pick n swap and reaves but it would have to be a big offer .

  22. STOP. FUCKING. CHASING. STARS.

Especially overrated stars that play no defense.

2 stars surrounded by defense and good coaching. It works. It already worked. Just fucking follow the formula.

It is unbelievable that this idiot FO still hasnt learned their lesson

  23. They’re winning without garland. I’d love to poke Cleveland to see if he’s available over Mitchell

  24. Buckowski66

Lol! Yeah, right. Only going to happen if those guys wind up on the buyout market which they won’t.

  25. FrankBreauxx

Trae and AD pick&rolls. Gonna be pure cinema

    ![gif](giphy|7FyMQm2vBiTjG|downsized)

  26. This reasoning is so risky lol what’s the guarantee that 1) these guys hit the market and that 2) we have the assets for them? There are teams, like okc, Knicks, Utah, that all are asset rich and would outbid us if they so desired

  27. supremepoker

Give two for Steph Curry and call it a day.

But Trae Young sounds pretty solid too.

    Imagine the spacing

  28. LovetheNBA23

The Murray trade allows us to keep a trade chip beyond next year. We’d still have two FRPs even if we give up 2029 plus Murray who could be worth 1-2 FRPs himself plus a decent sized salary slot. It allows the Lakers to try and compete this year while maintaining flexibility for a bigger fish. Murray needs to hold his value which I think he should be able to as he is only 27 and is balling without Trae in the lineup.

  29. irwanchel

We dont have assets plus they are short guards. Will be hunted in playoffs

  30. Wondering_Nova

We are getting no one and we will like it 😤

  31. Correct_Ball_7378

This is nice and definitely better all around than a DJM trade but would ATL even do this? Even if we throw AR in there i’m not too sure they’ll trade their franchise player in his 6th season when he led them to ECF in his third. Cavs are a different story but i’m not a big fan of Donovan here.

  32. No-Equipment-20

This is what I’ve been saying for weeks.  Don’t give up our FRP for LaVine, DeRozan, etc because it doesn’t move the needle AND it’s our only tradable asset.  Let this core ride out the year, make a move with some SRPs if needed, and reassess the future this off-season when you have access to 3 FRPs and 2 FRP swaps
