NBACentral (@TheDunkCentral) on X “Portland is open to trading Robert Williams III, per @ChrisBHaynes “There are some teams that are pondering making a move for Robert Williams.”

If we move Rob I would assume that means they’re looking to draft a big.

A bit disappointing. I was excited when we got Rob. He’ll probably be injured on and off for the remainder of his career however so it makes sense.

Haynes mentioned he wouldn’t be surprised if Houston tried to grab Rob since Udoka really likes him.

If the price is right sure. He still has two years on his deal after this one so he better not be given away cheap.

Can we just trade both Robert and Ayton? Afraid we are going to be stuck with Ayton until his contract runs out. At least Robert puts effort in.

I was just about to post this. I think we definitely should make the trade. Especially with Badji and Reath potential. I do like Williams, but the injury history is less than ideal.

  5. Rob’s healthiest seasons he played 61 and 52 games. What team would be willing to give up anything for him at this point?

Any team that is in a win now situation, could get a good deal. He will be playing for a new contract next year and should have a solid season. After that is the question…

That doesn’t sound like it makes any sense.

Maybe he has been discussed as part of a larger trade with Brogdon included or Grant and that’s why we hear “Blazers are open to trading RWIII” but just trading him by himself makes no sense.

  8. Man, if there’s even just a glimmer of a chance that he gets healthy enough to play for the next two years, then trading him would be a bad idea, especially for what we would be likely to get.

Kind of bummed. Even if his availability next season would be limited, was excited to have a star big on the roster as the backup. Also, from social media, he seems to really enjoy being a part of the team.

Good. Get what you can for him and free up minutes for Reath and the guy we eventually take in the draft.

I don’t really understand selling low on Rob. It’s not like we need help now to make a playoff push or anything. He could potentially come back healthy next year and increase his value a ton, but I suppose that’s a big question mark and maybe the org would rather get whatever they can now instead of playing the guessing game.

Not sure why a team would trade for a win now type player that’s out for the season when they could wait until the off-season/next deadline when presumably the medical information will be more solid, and he will be closer to playing.

But if someone wants to offer us some kind of FRP or a decent young big, I’d probably take it now.

I’m curious who’s trading for a guy who’s not playing this year. As an asset, not a contract.

Maybe a not quite contender who’s hoping to contend next year? And we trade our high upside asset with big injury risk for a high upside young guy who needs development?

I dunno, I’m open to it, but it’d be a kinda weird move for most teams.

  14. Sure why not, they have Badji and Reath. Don’t need an expensive backup on a rebuilding team

Obviously we’re looking to trade him, but what would anyone pay?
