Should Kevin Durant be in the GOAT conversation?

Should Kevin Durant be in the GOAT conversation?

Last topic before I get to my next segment would be that of a basketball variety and that would be Kevin Durant Kevin Durant is a career 27 point per game scorer he’s a two-time NBA champion with the Golden State Warriors a two-time NBA Finals MVP a former League MVP with the Oklahoma City

Thunder who’s led the league and scoring a few times and OB by the way is a shi first ballot future Hall of Famer it’s one of the greatest offensive players this game has ever seen scene let me get that out the way first before I get into the news involving Kevin Durant because

He recently made news when he suggested that he should be in the discussion for greatest player of all time a reporter took the liberty of asking KD try himself the one and only Kevin Durant now of the Phoenix Suns why he isn’t widely involved in the greatest of alltime conversation here was Kevin

Durant’s quote because I went to the Golden State Warriors why shouldn’t I be in that conversation that’s the question you should ask why not what haven’t I done Fair let me say this about Kevin Durant people get on him because he can be temperamental at times or whatever

He’s a brilliant brother who’s a brilliant basketball player and he’s a damn good person he Des deserves better than what most of us give him he is an Elite basketball Talent one of the greatest players this game has ever seen when you look at his career 27

Points per game when you look at his offensive efficiency shoot nearly 40% from three our 50% from the field the brother is phenomenal and on the Golden State Warriors despite the greatness of Steph Curry the greatest shooter God has ever created and the greatest shooting backc Court we have ever witnessed in NBA

History Kevin Durant was the best player on that team all true here’s the problem KD you left Oklahoma City after losing a 3-1 lead and falling in game seven in the Western Conference Finals as a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder with Russell Westbrook as your teammate and then you departed a month

Later to the Golden State Warriors the very team that beat you at the time I called it the weakest move I had ever seen by a superstar in my life and I meant it having said that I never meant for people to use that as an excuse to question your

Greatness as I explained on your show The Boardroom produced and owned by 35 Ventures your company with Jay Williams hosting at the time what I was appalled by was the clear discrepancy in the balance of power your greatness created because when you went to the Golden State Warriors there was

No competition it was a foregone conclusion I barely watch the NBA That season because we all knew the outcome you robbed the basketball world of suspense because you had an opportunity to compete against the greatness that had taken you out in a s game Western Conference Final series and instead of

Coming back to get them you left Russell Westbrook to join them now you got your two rings because of it you got your two NBA Finals MVPs because of it some say blame LeBron James because if LeBron James had never taken his talent to South Beach to join dwade and Chris B

And then ultimately go to four NBA finals and win back-to- back championships you probably wouldn’t have elected to do that with golden state where you ended up winning back-to-back titles and by the way would have won three straight in my humble opinion because there’s no way in hell kawh

Lenon and the Toronto Raptors would have beaten a healthy Golden State Warriors Squad you’d have took them out in four I might give them one game maybe and I doubt that with kawh with Kyle Lowry with Pascal cakam and the rest of the crew there is no way in hell would have

Beaten the Golden State Warriors with you KD along with the Splash Brothers so you could have three repated but here’s the bottom line you went and joined a stacked deck albeit one you made into a stacked deck before you got there you couldn’t win and after you departed you haven’t won

Now I’m one that’s willing to concede you’d have won the championship if Kyrie hadn’t hurt his ankle in that Milwaukee series remember I said you were going to drop 50 in that game five at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn you dropped 49 and you missed the last free

Throw cuz I know what kind of greatness I’m looking at when I watch you play and I believe you would have beat Milwaukee that series and you have went on to beat Atlanta in the Conference Finals and you have went on to beat the Phoenix Suns in the

Finals I believe that you and Kyrie absolutely without question I firmly believe that with Harden who was hurt by the way but still tried to go with game seven I believe that but it didn’t happen and because it didn’t happen that means you didn’t win before that means you didn’t went

After fair or not all the brewhaha surrounding Kyrie Irving had people thinking where’s the leadership from Kevin Durant they also asked you left Steph Curry to join Kyrie fair or unfair I think you’re one of the greatest ever I think anybody who knows basketball should consider you one of the greatest

Ever but when you take into account why you’re not in that conversation it doesn’t just devolves your athleticism your basketball skills and your ability it also includes leadership and your ability to Galvanize the troops around you to maximize their potential so you’re getting the most out of them not just

Yourself that’s how LeBron got Cleveland into the finals in 2007 that’s how he got to nine straight NBA Finals that’s what people are comparing you to that is why you’re not in that conversation fair or unfair

  1. He isn't in the GOAT conversation not because he joined GSW. Had he won those 2 rings and 2 FMVPs while staying at OKC, he still won't be top 10 all-time. How would 2 rings 2 fmvp, 1mvp stack up against Jordan, Kareem, Lebron, Bill Russell, Magic, Bird, Wilt, Shaq, Kobe, Duncan, and the list goes on. Heck, even Magic who has accomplished way more, a 5-time NBA champ, 3 MVPs, 3 finals MVPs, 9 all-NBA first team, has rarely made the Mt. Rushmore of NBA goats in recent discussions. Imo, you gotta be at least in the top 5 to be in the discussion. KD is great for sure, but not a greatEST-of-all-time candidate.

  2. But stephen A. said he shouldn't leave the golden state warriors smh. Besides that, I think LeBron James is the greatest politician in the history of basketball — that move to Miami heat literally drew good players towards him for the Cleveland and afterwards mission. KD couldn't do that plus he probably thought it'd be too obvious he's copying LBJ if he had gone back to OKC..

  3. I'm sorry but anyone who team hops shouldn't be in the conversation of GOAT. If you're that great you would stick it out and develop players around you and win with YOUR team.

  4. So lebron who suooose to be labeled goat B didn’t make the weakest move all time . Lebron was 2 time mvp scoring champ been to the finals and joined with Dwayne wade and Chris Bosh kd ain’t never come to the league claiming to be the goat

  5. I love watching KD play. He's had a great career up to this point but he's not in the conversation. He's a top-15 to 20 player in my opinion.

  6. 😅😂🤣 you rided a 73 win team and couldn’t win when you left and btw what’s worst was you were ahead 3-1 lead and went to the team that beat you 😅😂🤣 instead of beating them.

  7. I don't like sas he talked too much An he disrespected Kobe at the wrong time when he's dead and gone but he had the energy when Bean was alive

  8. The issue with the GOAT convo is people mix up skills/stats with greatness. The two are correlated, sure. All of the people considered potential GOATs have great stats. But there are so many things that hold some water to being the GOAT…championships, dominance, loyalty, attitude, etc. Why Jordan to me will always be the GOAT. He's got the stats and the championships, but he was just fearless and straight up dominant. Nobody else was like him. And this is why people saying Kobe are #2…I can get behind. Dude would will his way in any way possible to win. A perennial Laker who won multiple championships and had that same killer instinct. Durant doesn't hit some of those things outside of stats to be considered the GOAT. James hits most of those but lacks the killer instinct and loyalty Jordan had. One could argue Jordan didn't NEED to jump ship to win with other teams, and yeah I agree. But still. But James is easily a close 2nd to being the GOAT in terms of sheer dominance for as long as he has played. Basically, Durant is an amazingly skilled player, but lacks a few of the intangibles to be in the conversation.

  9. Steven A is right about this KD but you are one of my favorite players but this is true… 🤷🏽‍♂️
