Candace Parker on Inside the NBA last night talked about Becky Hammon’s comments on Brunson’s potential as a 1st option on a contending team:
>[“I agree with my coach… We’ve seen Jalen Brunson in the playoffs with the Mavs, and he was #2… but as a #1 option last year in the playoffs. Great first round, second round not so much.”](https://streamable.com/iq4p03)
This statement confused many, as Jalen Brunson averaged a paltry [31/6/6 in a 6 game slugfest with the Miami Heat last season.](https://www.basketball-reference.com/playoffs/2023-nba-eastern-conference-semifinals-heat-vs-knicks.html) As Erik Spoelstra, who watches games, stated after the series:
>[“How’s that dude not an All-Star or All-NBA?…He should be on one of those teams. I wish he were still out West.](https://twitter.com/ClutchPoints/status/1657222559237062656) Man you gotta respect him as a competitor…He’s got an iron will. There’s something about these Villanova guys, they’re as tough as they come as competitors…”
Josh Hart responded on Twitter to the video:
>[“Shows you some of them don’t actually watch basketball”](https://twitter.com/joshhart/status/1750195336985845806)

Fits right in with the majority of this sub who don’t actually watch basketball.
The Tuesday crew suck, more at 11
These people can’t do basic research man.
It seems like 90% of nba discourse is not based on reality.
It’s embarrassing how these clowns talk.
Turning on TNT to see the white dude not named Ernie, Candace, and Jamal is so depressing. Like it’s being promised ice cream and getting plain yogurt instead.
It was 31/6/6 on 63% TS too.
It’s impossible for someone to watch every single.game in the NBA, but it is embarrassing for a national analyst to have clearly not watched the 2nd round of the playoffs. I watch every game of the 2nd round and I’m certainly not paid to be on TNT talking about it.
SPO Knows, Candace nope. More news at six.
It’s a waste to watch the Tuesday TNT team. They are so bad they make me want to watch ESPN.
That’s why I don’t watch Inside the NBA’s B-Team
He greatly impressed Spo in that series, so that’s all I needed to hear about him being great.
Candace is such a damn casual. Really makes watching TNT unbearable. Probably the last one I watch unless it’s the main crew.
He was the best player on the floor that series. If the Knicks had someone better than Randle as their second best player, they’d probably make a deep run. Brunson has got the goods
As a Heat fan, I can tell you Brunson was by far the most terrifying player to the Heat on their way to the Finals. He was even scarier than Tatum, Giannis, or Brown. I have so much respect for him after that series.
Brunson averaged 31/6/6 on 50% in the second round, absolute scrub.
It’s a shame because I remember a video of Candace running circles around Shaq with actual basketball analysis. She was explaining the difficulty of PnR coverages against modern shooting, and Shaq just kept on saying he would stop it.
I’m assuming she realized that putting in work to provide intelligent information is not the route to success in her industry
It’s okay Josh. No one watched Candace Parker either.
Brunson was literally carrying them against us. He was the only player on that knicks team I would actually be cautious of when the ball was in his hands.
Some of THEM, as in WOMAN. What a horrible sexist! /s
Its literally her job aswell. Just watch the damn games and come up with her dumb opinions
Don’t know what more could have been expected by Brunson his last 2 games against Miami were an absolute master class and he kept a game 7 hope alive for the Knicks by himself
Candace, I expected more. I’ll be honest.
Damn for some reason I thought it was Klandace Owens. I miss read it.
As a heat fan, Jalen Brunson put the Fear of God into me in that second round. Dude was incredible.
I believe Becky Hammon’s comments were touching on something entirely different than Candace’s.
