JJ Redick’s Honest Reaction to Doc Rivers Taking Over as Head Coach of The Milwaukee Bucks

JJ Redick’s Honest Reaction to Doc Rivers Taking Over as Head Coach of The Milwaukee Bucks

All right so we had originally recorded the intro on Wednesday morning at about 9:00 a.m. uh I then recorded uh some additional content for islands in the league our YouTube video series uh as we were finishing up recording uh news broke that Doc Rivers uh has reached an

Agreement to coach the Milwaukee Bucks so I wanted to just have a little reaction to that uh first of all this is insane what’s happening like it’s insane it’s insane it’s insane Adrien Griffin we went over the numbers third winningest coach ever in terms of win percentage to be fired

Midseason in NBA history other two teams Lakers in 1980 Cavs in 16 go on to win a championship ultimately that’s why they’re bringing Doc Rivers in he did win a championship in 2008 and I want to be fair and I want to be unprejudice in in sort of my assessment

Of this move for the Milwaukee Bucks when you look at the landscape of sort of like who’s available who’s available who’s had head coaching experience we just brought in a rick rookie coach it clearly was not working out the players clearly were not responding to Adrien Griffin in a positive

Way they’re not going to then go hire an assistant coach or they’re not going to promote this is a team that wants to win now they want a proven coach so in that sense Doc Rivers to the milwauke makes a lot of sense he makes a lot of sense for

Sure to a certain faction of people to another faction of people uh we can feel a certain way about him as a coach about him since 2008 and and what he’s done he’s certainly won a lot of games a lot of regular season games I don’t know I don’t think Doc

Rivers is the coach that would get this team to a championship I don’t think that maybe based on Perimeter Personnel all that thing defensively they’re they’re not going to get there this year maybe they add someone at the deadline maybe they add someone in buyout which historically has not worked maybe they get

There I don’t know I don’t know it’s just crazy hey guys we’ve got a ton of great content for you on our YouTube channel we’ve got old man of the three things we’ve got our player and guest interviews on old land of the 3 and we’ll be having some fresh islands

  1. All the white coaches who are still allowed to coach I will never get upset about a black coach that gets chance after chance after chance

  2. Doc Rivers: 10 Game 7 losses in his career and a run that includes five straight. He has also lost nine straight games with a chance to reach the conference finals

  3. Somebody has seriously got into looking deeper on Giannis having gotten Griffin fired or not. Oh and if the story about his brother is also true. If so,then Giannis has to give some answers.

  4. Their defense is horrendous and it was obvious that Giannis has issues with Griffin. Hiring Doc is a pretty good fit actually. If they pick up their defense, they can have a long run in the playoffs. It's the time now, to fix/correct your course. It's gonna take a bit to dial in, so doing this now is ideal.

  5. I know there have been concerns with the Bucks this year, but bottom line is they're 2nd in the East at the moment. So all of this is highly unusual. I can't see this ending well.

  6. I've never seen someone failing upwards like doc in my life, man underachieves almost everytime as a coach and instantly gets a better coaching job

  7. Rivers isn’t gonna be as bad as everybody thinks. The bucks will land a star like Dejounte Murray and if they don’t they’re gonna land somebody else. The dark rivers can slightly improve the defense which I think he can then the team will work they’re 30 13 There’s a reason why Doc Rivers is chosen by the huge organization and I don’t think he’s gonna end his coaching career with just one ring 2008.

  8. Doc Rivers is not the answer and you know it. What was the point in firing coach Bud then? To me hiring Doc Rivers is a safe move. Adrian Griffin was an unknown you didn't know what he was going to do come play off time. So Giannis flexed his muscles and got Griffin out of there. Doc Rivers is a safe hire. He's going to make the playoffs every year, he's going to win 55 to 60 plus games every season. But guess what? The Clippers or the Sixers never made the Conference Finals under doc. Think about that

  9. Yo this did NOT go how I thought it was going to lol. Like if JJ is saying this, then he feels that Doc specifically fucked the Clippers on at least one occassion in a series.

  10. The Bucks are Done regardless.Dame is a defensive liability. They will never win a championship this Generation… it's over

  11. What has Doc Rivers won but Only (1) ring courtesy of Kevin McHale gifting him KG @ his prime & couldn’t win again+ with loaded Clippers Team chocked a 3-1 lead & @ Philly ? Enough said. Poor Bucks as it’s 76’ers turn + up & coming NY Knicks. I bet ESPN is so happy as he stank up the joint w his raspy voice. !!! 😂😂😂😂

  12. Should've kept coach Bud then. The only problem with coach Bud was making adjustments during games, but coach Bud is better than Doc

  13. Hiring Choke Rivers will be the worst thing to happen to the Bucks in quite a while. Doc Rivers has failed upwards his entire career while leaving a legacy of blowing massive leads time after time.

  14. It's fine if you don't like Doc but calling Griff 'the 3rd winningest coach in nba history' is fking insane…He can't coach defense and has made zero adjustments. He's good with ATOs and timely timeouts, but the team needs structure and an identity. You can't win on talent alone. Doc's track history is terrible but he's been saying the right things as a commentator at least…At the very least he sees the glaringly obvious: Dame needs the ball in his hands more to get going, Giannis needs to rim run more and shoot less, etc. Getting Doc is pretty awful news, I was hoping for Stotts to take this offense to another level or for Bud to hold down the defense, but Doc isn't any worse than Griff, it's a lateral move at worst.

  15. Who cares about the record? What team wants to ball out every game against liwer level teams every nite become the defense sucks? Adrian Griffin is a great guy, he just was not prepared to coach a championship caliber team.

  16. They've got Giannis, Dame, Middleton and Lopez so they aren't that far away from getting it together defensively or offensively. All world players just got to play, its basketball, its not brain surgery, its not the coach. But the league is competitive and the game and rules promote running, gunning and jacking up threes. So no team is guaranteed a championship, you shouldn't even think that way just try to be top 2 in the East and see what happens.
