So much bigger than basketball. Glad they did this tribute and postponed their games.

I wish the media would let the team grieve in peace. They’ve been awfully intrusive with their pre & post game questions. RIP Dejan.

Sorry if this is a bad taste question but is it true the heart attack happened at a team dinner with everyone around?

Must be extremely hard to think of your recently deceased coach/friend and then have to go play basketball for 48 minutes. Heart goes out to these guys for their toughness not only mentally but physically as well.

Takes a lot of courage to play after seeing one of their brothers have a heart attack in front of you and not make it. Props for the warriors for getting through it. Can’t imagine what must be going through their heads

I cried when I saw them (and his family) cry. I just can’t help it when I see people loose someone important in their lives.

Thoughts going out to the Warriors family, this is a straight up tragedy all around. Mid 40s is too young.

I get that the show must go on and everything but gotdamn it man… 2 games off really ain’t enough. Shit I’m not sure any amount of time would be enough.

I really saw people on here and on fantasy basketball forums saying shit like “They really postponing 2 games for this? It’s not even a player or head coach, it’s an assistant coach.” Absolutely ridiculous and selfish thing to say. This was a man who was a big part of so many of these people’s lives and they literally witnessed his death. I’m amazed they’re even able to play now.

Sucks… someone you see everyday and he’s suddenly not going to be at practice, team meetings, team events and at the game anymore. He’s gone unexpectedly. The lovable, positively, joking guy in the fam won’t be there to talk to them during games and after too. It’s rough. The reality sets in as it’s their first game without Dejan..

He was only with them for three years, and this is their reaction. That tells you how important he was to these men. Seeing grown men cry makes me so sad, and the fucked up thing is it’s only giving me that feeling because for DECADES it was seen as weak, which is so fucking dumb and it’s like we’re still not accustomed to seeing it. We want to see it more but whenever we express ourselves, or cry it’s like we’re the laughing stock of the week for being emotional regardless of what it’s about.
We need more men to express themselves. Fucking cry, let that shit out. From mourning, to depression, to shit not working the way you need it to be or think it would be.
Rest in Peace Dejan Milojevic. Heart attack at 46, surrounded by coaches and players at the time. Witnessing the death of someone close to you isn’t something anyone should witness. It’ll take a LONG time for them to get past this, it’ll take a long time to finish mourning, but if death has taught me anything its this.
We need to value life, because death doesn’t come when you’re ready. It comes when you’re not expecting it. It comes when you’re enjoying a simple meal with friends, and famila.
My heart burns for this team, and I genuinely wish all affected by this loss a prayer to the universe for better days and a prayer for the family that lost a seemingly good man.

Man that was hard to watch. He must have meant a lot to them

Dray had a good talk about this in his podcast. He said they even watched Partizan vs Mega game where they gave tribute to Deki and how much he meant for them all. He honestly seemed like he was about to cry even during that podcast.

Beautiful gesture. I would love to work for a basketball team or any real team. For the company where I work, one guy died in the job after working there for 30+ years, nobody gave a fuck, no tears, no beautiful gestures, in a couple of days nobody spoke again about this guy, he was forgotten just like that. We should care more about colleagues or employees. This society sucks

What a tough year for the GSW and to add to that the mounting pressure on the players with trade talks and coach job on the line for the team “underperforming”.

I’ve watched two people die in separate situations.
A friend was stabbed in front of me.
My aunt took her last breath while holding my hand.
You never fully get over it. You just get better at coping.
