Tim Legler on Doc Rivers heading to Milwaukee Bucks 🗣️ ‘THE STAKES ARE HIGH!’ | SC with SVP

And Doc Rivers is going to be their head coach now in Adrien Griffin I I was told um the source with the within the Bucks group that just this guy was really really beloved it wasn’t that they didn’t like him it was not that they he’

Lost the room it’s just that there’s an urgency with this group to try to win now and there’s concerns are we going to get close enough to do that can DOC come in he’s a guy who’s been the voice in every room and he’s got a certain level

Of caset can he change the issues that they face on the defensive end of the floor yeah I think he can one is’s just going to command great respect because that’s what he gets around the league and certainly the star players Giannis and Damen L the most important the group

That they’re going to respect him on on a different level because of what this guy’s accomplished in the league he’s going to be able to help them I think from an X as an0 standpoint schematically with some of the defensive things that have gone on but I think in

General a lot of it’s just going to come down to personal effort I think that’s where Doc is going to have the cache to I think call guys out get a little bit more out of people when you watch film um and and make guys accountable I think

That’s what Doc Rivers brings probably more than anything else you know Adrian Griffin I just think the organization probably looked at the stakes that are associated with this pairing with Giannis and Lillard and particularly always one eye on Giannis and making sure he is satisfied that he has a

Chance to compete at the highest level and I just don’t think they felt they had enough of a veteran proven presence to navigate what was going to be a very difficult postseason at 30 and 13 certainly not fair to Adrien Griffin but this is professional sport they’re not

Worried about Fair they’re worried about getting it done right now and they don’t necessarily think Adrian Griffin was the right guy for that and Doc can come in and play tapes you’ve done sitting here with me at this year and just say that isn’t what is this that effort on the

Defensive end is not good enough I had I had I had examples tonight we could have gone over but it’s it’s some of its effort some of its Personnel Scott we talked about this when you lose the point of attack pressure and physicality of Drew holiday what that means to your

Defense behind that guy because that’s the first thing you see when you’re back on defense is what’s happening at the point of attack and that’s a lot very few dudes gave as much as he gave in fighting over screens and hounding guys and never quitting on a play you know

They’ve taken a step back in that area some of the other guys on their team I think through injuries maybe a little bit slower so there are some issues from a Personnel standpoint there and they’re hoping that Doc Rivers can be the guy to figure out a way to tweak what they’re

Doing and make the adjustments to protect some of these guys from their weaknesses about that he has cache he’s earned it but he’s also got a record in series and in game sevens that you could look at and say huh that doesn’t concern you though with

This team because why yeah look it’s G it’s fair to bring it up five straight game sevens I think 10 overall he has lost it’s fair to bring it up you and wondering how he’s going to navigate those moments but here’s where I’m going

To cut him a break when I look at what happened in Philly and these are the most recent ones the most prominent ones he’s not going to deal in Milwaukee with what he he dealt with in Philadelphia where guys that are played in the allstar game that year show up in a big

Spot and decide they’re going to play completely differently it’s one thing to have a bad night that’s not even what I’m talking about when your team is used to star players playing a certain way with a certain level of aggressiveness and that disappears and that I think

Also affected the body language of Joel embiid when he would see that kind I think he kind of felt like well I guess I’m out here by myself tonight uh Doc’s not going to deal with that with these two guys they embrace the moment they’re

Going to run to the light and the big stage Damen leard Giannis even Middleton so that’s one thing and last time doc had something like that where guys embrac the moment was Boston 2008 at that level and he won a championship so I’m going to give doc the benefit of the

Doubt he’s not going to have to push as many buttons on a given night when you have those two players the offense is going to run itself when you’ve got guys that good I think in Philly sometimes he was kind of wondering how am I supposed to work around this when my All-Star

Starting point guard is having one of these nights where he’s in a very dark place and I can’t get any aggressiveness out of him he’s not going to deal with that with this group well we’ll miss him on the mic for us but I think we all

Understand if you can walk across from sitting next to Mike and Doris and go sit next to Giannis that’s a walk across the court you got to make it’s not a tough Sell

  1. Doesn't matter what team Doc coaches , the players are divas in all NBA. The league is a shell of its former self.

  2. what has Doc Rivers EVER done? he won ONE chip w/stacked roster of 3 future HoFers; every other time he's been to an elimination game, his teams have lost! DOC RIVERS IS A LOSER, this hiring will make Bucks WORSE, not better…

  3. Doc will lead them to a game 7 second round loss. Yay Bucks! The guy has ONE RING, 15 years ago. Bucks are done.

  4. Big difference here is guys like Dame and Giannis play hard in the post season. Embiid and Harden play hard in the regular season. 😊

  5. Doc is a bad coach. He can’t make the next adjustment and that’s why he gets destroyed in the playoffs. Giannis will be asking for a trade next.

  6. Not sure if doc can instantly make dame a better defensive player. I personally believe that the Buck's panicked concerning the Lillard trade. The absence of Jrue Holliday is rearing it's ugly head.

  7. Bruh had the most stacked teams in the league and couldn’t make it past the second round every year. It won’t matter how about Giannis and them being champs. Doc is the coach. And a overrated one imo

  8. Doc uplifts teams, it will be interesting to see how/IF he gets MIL to ascend the too. Popcorn! 🍿

  9. No he cant. Doc is Terrible at making adjustments i love Giannis and Lillard but they can't survive the Rivers Curse

  10. I don’t know because Doc as shown in Philly and LA is that Doc still can’t command major commitment from his players from a defensive standpoint in clutch time and that is why he blows 3-1 leads and game 7’s

Plus this roster is also defensively flawed

  11. Doc must have dirt on every GM in the league. Dude keeps getting hired just to get bounce in the first or second round!

  12. Miami Heat are the Robert Horry of the playoffs. During the regular season, they’re just picking their noses or sleepwalking through it. By the playoffs, they start looking like prime Bird or MJ hitting every clutch shot. Jimmy Butler was looking godly in the 1st round.

The Scary Terry addition is only going to make them scarier. Erik Spoelstra is the best head coach in the NBA. If Miami stays at 6th, no team wants to fall to 3rd and this includes Boston. Doc is cursed enough to lose to Miami. Same with Philly. Just remember that Miami has made the ECF three out of the last four years (2020, 2022, 2023) and has won it twice and nearly won it in 2022.

As pissed I was for losing more potential winnings last year because Milwaukee and Boston failed to beat an 8th seed, I will not make the same mistake again. Miami will be included in all my parlays at their current odds winning the East at 14-1. Boston really fumbled the ball at the 1-yard line last year. They can whine that Tatum got hurt in Game 7 but they wouldn’t be in a Game 7 in the first place if they handled Miami earlier and not go down 0-3 including embarrassing losses in Gm 2 and 3.

I’m still very iffy with Boston regardless if they run away with the best record in the NBA. The No. 1 seeds in the East are only 1-9 since 2014 at making the Finals. You have to go back to the 2016 Cavaliers to find the last one to make it. So I made my initial parlays from a $34 budget and it’s going to consist mostly with Niners and Chiefs winning this weekend and Clippers winning the West. I have major doubts with my Clippers as Anthony Davis already gives us problems. Wait when we face Denver and Minny.

If let’s say Niners or Chiefs lose this weekend, I’ll have more wagers involving either of the Super Bowl teams + NBA division winners, conference winners, and the NBA champion. I will bet from now until the Kentucky Derby. Things can happen like Kawhi Leonard being injured again.

The Lakers are targeting OKC like all teams did last year with Sacramento. The Thunder are this year’s Kings. It’s another nice Cinderella story similar to the Detroit Lions but they’ll turn back into pumpkins.

Whichever 10 teams I listed will make the NBA Finals. That’s a 99.9% guarantee. Disregard the other 20 or really 6 once the playoffs arrives. I’m no believer in OKC, Dallas, Sacramento, New Orleans, Cleveland, Orlando, and Indiana.

I tried believing in Cleveland last year and they couldn’t handle the Knicks in the 1st round who look even better this season. I tried believing in the Browns recently only to watch them get blown out against the Texans. Cleveland are like Josh Allen’s Buffalo Bills. Nice regular season record but another failure before the big dance.

As it stands, Doc’s new team is sandwiched by his former teams: Boston and Philly. Watch Milwaukee lose to Philly in the 2nd round. He better pray he doesn’t get Miami in the 1st who are 6th. Watch Bucks fall to 3rd. Doc is the GOAT snake oil salesman in NBA history. He should be in politics.

Every year, we don’t pay much attention to Miami and then they’ll surprise us. First 5th seed to make the Finals. Then second 8th seed to make the Finals. Miami Heat play possum all season until Himmy Buckets wakes up from his 6-month hibernation. While it’s opposite with Doc’s teams. Good regular season records followed by many bad playoff meltdowns.

  13. What exactly is Doc's record vs Spo in Miami? Milwaukee and Miami are perennial opponents… We might be undersized vs the Bucks but Spo's outcoached Doc every time they've met.
