Lakers/Nets Postgame , J.Worthy, LeBron, AD, D-Lo, Reaves, Coach Ham Reactions | Jan 19, 2024

Chris McGee big game James Worthy metal World piece a brutal loss for the Lakers versus the Nets who came into this game losers of N9 of 10 14 of 17 and guys the Lakers were up 12 with 2 minutes and 24 seconds left in the first half and get

Blown out by the Nets 6844 in the second half the Nets hit 19 threes and they got 59 points from their bench and those good feelings we all had in the pregame show not really with us right now big game uh we talked about pregame about the

Danger of a game like this uh about you know Ben Simmons being out which I didn’t really think made a big difference anyway but we said that these guys are professional athletes and you have to respect them and I think the Lakers did for a portion of the game and

Then at some point they just stopped playing defense and Brooklyn started to play defense and and they gave up a lot of Threes which they started to head uh you you can’t count on a team that’s trending in the wrong direction not bouncing back especially in La they want

To beat the Lakers uh disappointed loss disappointed loss um I I I just thought that they were going to come home and take care of business and this one loss it just it just makes everything that they’ve done the last week just kind of disappear because they needed to win

This game and they needed to Trend in the right direction uh you know brookly shot 53% from the field 41 from three and they were a lot of open threes they got 10 steals they all played the Lakers they all played they all played them and the Lakers disrespecting them they

Didn’t take them they didn’t take them seriously and uh they got their asses handed to them yeah look and it was embarrassing I’m glad you brought that up with they shooting big game James 53 54% you know the last 10 games they’ve been shooting close to 40% at 42 so they

Had you know a lot of a lot of energy to go to go attack Lakers and you know and get Buckets they’re moving the the ball but we were not moving the ball as much so put us in a bad spot let me ask you guys were you sensed this game changed I

Felt watching that first half Lakers came out with pretty good injury they’re still riding off that Hive the last two wins they’re playing well offensively but to me it reminded me of like you go into a fight and the Lakers just thought they were going to win this through the

First punch but they weren’t expecting Brooklyn to fight back and they were up 12 and I think that’s the importance you’re always teaching youngsters too became game like closing quarters and halves is important because all of a sudden Brooklyn starts hitting threes and they’re right back back in it and

They come out and win that third quarter 38 to 22 embarrassing they sens that they were being disrespected a little bit uh Claxton uh who this guy come off the bench cam it just Thomas you know you can’t allow that to happen I mean you

Know we we have a big man that that that’s plays very hard but Claxton came in and you know just muscle muscled us around and you know around somewhere in that second quarter I think we were up 12 I think they got it to five or something like like that um I think

That’s when they sense it like like look we’re in La you know this is LeBron ad they think they’re all that and so let’s go out and show them and and they did and and and they sensed it and when when a team senses that and they started to

Get hot and they started to play hard and you haven’t been you can’t just FP that switch they got you they had them yeah I you know not enough driv and kicks you know up 12 and you get excited like you’re you’re in Los Angeles and

Sometimes that could be a gift and a curse you know you got to make sure you you finished the job you know when you’re when you’re on that Court you got to kind of take out Los Angeles take the Lakers off you know in front of your

Shirt and just act like you back home because it can be a little distracting you get excited you up all the celebrities are out there and you just take your foot off the gas and and here you see these two right here begin what they did to the Lakers yeah stop

This nonsense of losing at home it’s embarrassed and it’s indicative that you’re not taking your home court seriously and you’re taking teams for granted you can’t do that in this league cuz if you do they sense it and and they you know the one thing teams don’t like

To be is disrespected especially by an elite team like Los Angeles so you know you you you you started well and you did not finish somewhere somewhere along the way you said okay we got them and when you do that it it it turned around yeah I mean

68 points in the first half and then and the lack of defensive energy in that third quarter really puts them behind and then the fourth quarter it’s the Nets doing whatever they want um you got to put this loss up there with with one of the worst ones of the season right

Considering where they are 2121 how they kind of climbed out of that hole uh for that month after the inseason tournament and and just the feeling of how you know winning four out of six meta uh back to another low point for you or no I mean yeah it’s definitely a low point

Considering that the play is looking like you’ll be out of it and not going towards number six going towards number 11 so you know they got to figure out a few things it seemed like the Nets came in here and said let’s get a win let’s go out and

Party tonight you know you really you got to protect your home floor and this is a big opportunity it was a little bit too much stagnant like I said not not a lot of ball movement which and also I can see Guy guys need to work on the

Game a little bit more got to get in the gym you got to be able to you know work on your game and and not rely on Davis and LeBron you know all game yeah I mean listen in the first half though the ball 20 assists put up 68 points it’s just a

Tail of two halves there and it kind of started the last two which is what I don’t which is just hard for me to understand how you start a game playing the way you’re supposed today and they what happens you they just quit for some reason uh as my addition correctly did

They have 70 points Off the Bench they had 59 59 points 59 points Off the Bench three guys with double figures Lonnie 15 big game Dennis Smith Jr 11 and 33 from cam Thomas they had seven guys okay the starters the starters had 70 that’s what

It is 59 From the Bench with Cam I’m not surprised he is a scorer I can’t really you know you can’t really stop that kid but the rest I can’t vouch for well you know we had our our bench you know I picked ruy for and he had zero points

Tonight yeah really struggled over six LeBron struggled a little bit Yeah re was over for six from three so it’s uh it’s hard to it’s hard to to figure out what it is with this team’s mental state that allows them to get into this type of play at home against a team that’s

Trending downward in a lot of categories not shooting the ball well losing small and today the Lakers made it look like they were a playoff team yeah just a bummer cuz you were thinking won four out of six he won two in a row got Portland on

Sunday now you’re on a four- game win streak heading into that Clipper game I was looking for five in a row I was looking I was looking to run out four or five games in a row at home yeah the record is it knowable it would yield

That to us but when you come out and you don’t take care of a game in 48 minutes and you allow Brooklyn to come in and totally embarrass you in front of your home crowd and it’s not the first time we’ve seen it so I don’t like it I’m

Sure they don’t like it but it’s not Laker basketball that they played tonight Darin Hamond speaking with Mike trell on the media Darvin that first quarter looked like a continuation of the previous two games everything kind of clicking at what happened from that point on I I

Just felt like uh you know obviously cam Thomas salute to him came off blazing hot um but we continue to compete you know we had some great numbers at halftime Great Clips Great activity you know NBA a teams are going to score but I thought for the most part our effort

You know our our our uh Pace us sharing the ball um I think we had 20 assists at halftime on 26 field goals it was all clicking they started to make a run and we just kind of fell apart um just felt like we got disappointed some calls we thought we should have

Gotten didn’t go our way they made some shots we slowed down start holding the ball becoming indecisive um and the result was what it was you talk about the tail of two different halves that first half is you know what we’re working toward to your point um coming

Out of those last two games those last two wins and then the inconsistency you know showed up read its head in the second half but you know we can’t feel sorry for oursel and make excuses we saw the same people that put together that first half the same ones that allowed

That second half and we just have to decide uh which which team we’re going to be um we’ve seen how dominant we can be when we’ve done it right and we’re healthy and we’ve seen you know when we haven’t done it so right and and and you

Know you got dealing with different body issues health issues but at the end of the day you suit up you got to come out there and compete and and compete as a unit and um that second half wasn’t reflective of that does that tell you something about just the season as a

Whole right like kind of some some good and then some bad and obviously it’s a the records around 500 or do you feel like there’s still despite today there’s some kind of a corner turned and now you know what needs to get done yeah I mean I mean it’s it’s it sucks

Because like we have been playing some really great basketball beat a couple of great teams and Brooklyn You know despite their record that’s a good young hungry b ball Club that’s has a lot of skill everywhere um and we have to be you know I just told them you can throw

The records out the window uh we’re the Lakers no matter who we play no matter where we play them we going to get everyone’s best game uh we have to be ready to come out and give the best versions of ourselves and not be so caught up in not

Saying that we were but again we could throw the records out the window it’s not about who we’re playing it’s about how we want to present ourselves on both sides of the basketball Darin second half clearly but it obviously started in the third quarter and um you guys had a six-point

Lead they take the lead and you guys called timeout with about 8 minutes ago in the quarter what’s the messes at that point and and what’s it like to try to Halt momentum when you can feel a game shifting it’s tough because you don’t want to burn through timeouts you trying

To find it you know we had some guys that didn’t shoot the ball well tonight but you know you can’t shot making shouldn’t you know di dictate how you play how you compete it should be the other way around like you got to come out and thrust yourself into the game

Get your Rhythm within the game on the defensive end doing a little intangible things and shot making is a bonus you know you play great defense you’re going to get run outs you’re going to get easy shots easy looks um but I mean you just

Try to tell them you know you don’t you don’t go in the panic mode you never want to do that you just tell them what what it is you know be clear you know we we we’re giving up we’re not getting back I mean one one possession we get a

Layup they get a dunk the very next play you can’t have plays like that not when you’re trying to go where we’re trying to go and and be the type of team we’re trying to be you got to compete harder can’t assume someone else is going to

Get a rebound or set a screen or run back or Sprint ahead for your teammate to be open you have to have a mindset to do all of that you know if need be and as consistent as possible has it been concerning that you guys haven’t been able to string

Together those type of consistent performances you know for a longer stretch of stretch of time especially over like the past month month or so month or so yeah it’s tough man when you you’re dealing with you’re managing bodies that have injuries or or you know some hurt spots and some sore spots so

It makes it damn near impossible to have a practice um it definitely affects your shoot rounds um you know you’re trying to collaborate with the medical team and and and the performance staff and try to see what’s best you know you can’t you can’t get emotional about it you know

You can be passionate but passionate with intelligence um in terms of not just doing something to do something and just cuz you’re mad and upset you still have to be smart because that anger you proven a point in a practice can spill over in a two or

Three games but at the end of the day you know we try to be as efficient as possible watch a ton of film we’ll definitely do that watch this game and and and make it more about our principles and again the type of team we

We want to be um it’s over for the excuses man we we we got to play basketball Darvin uh you guys missed a lot of shots in the paint and and at The Rim in the second half which is uncharacteristic did you feel like guys were kind of pressing to make up the

Deficit or was it just kind of one of those nights where I think it’s a little bit of both definitely guys are press pressing want to make a play you know we have some guys that can do some big things on their own individually and you

Know you put yourself at at risk of that happening when you you know allow the team to create a deficit and um you’re trying to play catch up um so I I think all our guys their hearts in the right place we just got to understand and and

And how we start games off the things we’re doing well the things were not doing so well we watch Clips at halftime we see what we did well we see what we need to clean up a little bit and we have to figure out a way to sustain that

Through 48 minutes not 24 not 36 but 48 minutes or however long the the game takes to be done with um that’s the only way we’re going to win that’s the only way we’re going to be successful in a long long term but um I think it was a

Little bit of everything you know we had some guys that got some great looks that normally make those looks that didn’t make them uh we had some balls that got away from us they were able to get some run outs um and they just competed they competed they never stopped competing

When we were up so we just got to you know really learn from this and take this lesson is the hard a tough tough pill to swallow but we have to look at it look at stare it right right in the face and and figure out how we can not

Allow this to happen again you have talked about kind of keeping things in perspective this season when you have hit adversity when there have been this difficult stretches um how do you keep them from letting the snowball this really bad second half a particularly rough fourth quarter what

Do you do to kind of help them you look at it you show it on film you look at it you address it with the group um we’ve had a few of those this year and uh we we we normally respond well from it uh and this is no different you take all

The good the bad the ugly and you show it to them and uh try to get better from it thanks coach thank you hey D’Angelo you guys got off to that good start it seemed like the flow carried over from the OKC and the Dallas games where did you see things flip and

How were you guys not able to to find it again as the game went on uh just just off the field I feel like um third quarter you know they got some momentum regained any bit of confidence that we took from the first half they regained it in the second half especially start

The third and it just kept chipping away what what did you see on the defensive end really really after the first quarter but like second quarter third quarter fourth quarter they seem to be getting to the rim hitting open threes where did you guys fall short on that

End I mean they throw a lineup out there that’s very versatile so um if you don’t communicate they’ll take advantage of it um from slips and screens and obviously Jack V’s a hell of a coach he’s drawing up sets and putting them in position to take take advantage of any

Miscommunication or misls on our end so that’s what they did tonight they took advantage of it Danel you guys shot something like 65% in the first quarter and um the offense wasn’t flowing necessarily as well um as Brooklyn made their their run do you feel like as a group you guys

Rely on your offense to get defensive energy or how does kind of that balance work I’m not sure I know we throw out a group out we throw a group out there that’s very you know um dominant offensively you know um I mean then you seen a few games ago Darin experimenting

With the uh defensive lineup as well so like I said that’s what the regular season 4 you’re figuring it out what you want to do what you want to prepare for going into the postseason things you tried that worked and may have not tonight I think they just took advantage

Of um our miscommunication a lot of the time D in the second half you guys missed a lot of shots in the paint and at The Rim you guys are one of the best finishing teams in the paint normally do you feel like guys were kind of pressing

A little bit to make up for the deficit or was it just kind of one of those nights where you know shots just aren’t falling and it kind of snowballs from there yeah I think definitely um shots aren’t falling you try to you know make a way to to make up for it

You know as a group is you know something we we obviously thought about but individually everybody including myself probably tried to you know make home run plays that you know led to easy Transitions and miscommunications again and transition things like that it just kind of

Snowball y you guys have had a lot of ups and downs throughout the season is it concerning that you who you it’s you guys as a team have had had a lot of ups and downs so far throughout the season is it concerning that you guys haven’t

Been able to find a consistent leveling performances over the past month or so no I mean obviously something we need to figure out and work continue to work towards but um I mean I don’t think we hit the panic button yet I think it’s um as a group we’re still dealing with you

Know injuries and things like that and um we’re slowly figuring things out uh we just played at a high level last two games this game was a little set back I think this will motivate us should motivate us for the next one cool thanks hey Austin um what do you think happened in

The second half there the third quarter in particular as the game Got Away uh they scored more points than us and I know felt like we just got a little stagnant and couldn’t get a stop hey Austin and um on a night like tonight when it feels like a lot of

Shots that usually go in for the team are just kind of going in and out um does that make it more frustrating and make you guys kind of press a little more uh I wouldn’t say uh I wouldn’t say press frustrating yes uh you know we’re all professionals and we all you know

Expect to make shots um you know I didn’t shoot the ball well you know from the field from three um so when you know you’re shooting the ball and you feel like it feels good and it’s not going in it’s frustrating but then again there’s a

Million things uh in the game that you can do to you know help your team be successful and um play good but uh tonight you know we just didn’t have a good second half hey Austin um as the game goes on how do you guys kind of decide whether

You’re when you uh bring the ball up to half court uh how do you decide whether you’re just kind of freelancing offense versus play calling and and how do you feel about how that kind of balance uh went throughout the game uh like I said I think we got a

Little stagnant in the second half and um you know when that happens you have to be you know really good at you know making tough shots and in a sense we are you know we got guys that can do that and um like you know the question

Was a while ago the you know some of the shots was just going in out so um you know we got to figure out how to uh you know obviously get those shots to go in but um you know create you know easier quality shots uh like we did in

The first half could you sense maybe the body language kind of worsening a little bit amongst the team especially and maybe getting a little preoccupied with the officials no I mean I think all the you know body language frustration comes from losing uh Um refs they’re refs they’re human if they miss a call and at the end of the day they probably going to miss a call on the other end too so regardless of you know um good whistle bad whistle you know you just got to play hard and I

Think in the second half you know towards the end I think the frustration was just us losing and you know that’s not I wouldn’t say a bad thing because if you don’t care if we’re getting beat then you don’t really care about the right thing so

Um you know officials are you know human and they’re going to you know Miss calls on both ends and you know can’t worry about that um during the second half uh went after the the Nets went on their run um you guys dropped into a Zone after makes

A couple of times um can you talk about kind of what that felt like on the court um in terms of going to Zone versus going to man and what the what the kind of uh I don’t know the the Vibe is like yeah I I understand

Um you know when a team’s you know got you know going um a certain against a certain defense you know you kind of had to try to make an adjustment to you know throw them off throw them off Rhythm know cuz basketball is such a you know

Rhythm game uh you kind of you know try to throw a curve ball instead of just keep pounding away fast balls and baseball terms so uh you know he tipped their hat to them I feel like they executed really well against B and Zone

And uh we didn’t do a good enough job in either and uh like I said you tip your hat off to them but at the end of the day we got to be better um as a team individually and you know compete for one Collective goal and that’s to win

Appreciate yall a lot of you guys sna the losing streak how good does it feel so just get a win and to get a win like this um it feels good you you know um I think we really know what we’re capable of doing um and I think we showed it

Today um we we I think that last game in Portland kind of struck a cord in a lot of us and um we came today with a little bit more fight a little bit more grid and just Edge you look at overall at just how this game went about what was the

Difference Maker especially in that second half uh what change for you guys uh just level of physicality I think you know when we’re locked in defensively uh pushing you know just involving rebounding um you know it transitions to the offense very well um and then it

Kind of hit a point where we were having a lot of fun with it too you know just because of how well we was doing it uh defensively so um we just play with a sense of urgency you know and that’s really what you know turned it up a

Notch uh especially in that third quarter obviously you mentioned the Portland game and the way that ended striking a court but I’m curious Jo was talking about how he showed a clip at halftime nobody was putting a hand on anybody is that something that also

Struck a cord and made you guys kind of look in the mirror and determine you need to be more physical I’m for sure um you know I think you know like I I consistently say you know we know what we’re capable of doing so sometimes when we don’t play to that

Capability uh it it sure as hell bothers us um and it just starts with just being accountable holding each other accountable you know I think individually once you show that you can do one thing you want to see it every single game and just show some consistency so um I think that’s

Something that’s just next level for us is you know we’re kind of getting to that point where we’re talking to each other um holding each other kind of knowing what’s a bad shot uh what was a bad risk foul or what it is whatnot so um we’re growing individually and

Collectively and um you know I’m I’m very happy with today’s win now we just got to keep stacking it Lonnie first off what made you say damn when you walked in looking at the score sheet oh I don’t know just the third quarter 3822 was a

Good one that was a very fun third quarter I think that’s one of our better uh quarters that we you know played um honestly thought my plus minus was much more than that that’s all and then Jack just talked about just how you Dennis the bench everyone just

Kind of J together and played together obviously for you just getting back in the swing of things is this kind of hint at kind of what you guys are you guys are you guys getting more comfortable a little bit more with you guys as a bench

With you being back um yeah for sure um I think we’re starting to identify our roles collectively you know you know Dennis said it when we was going into the half time I’m there to do the dirty work I’m there to play defense you know uh be a terrific point guard you know

Keep that energy alive me and CT were there you know just to be aggressive be decisive CT is really there to score you know um so uh I think collectively and individually we kind of know what we got to do as far as is that second unit

Bench you know and that’s just to Rally up the energy pick it up take it a whole another level um and consistently do that and I think that’s something that we’ve been doing um night in and night out I don’t think there’s really a bench team that’s been outworking us what were

You thinking watching cam Thomas go off like that how contagious was it kind of for the whole group oh very contagious I mean I called it before we played this game you know when you play a drop against a three- L scorer like him um the game gets real easy you know

Especially once you get going early um so it was only a matter of time before he got hot and he he was from start to finish on fire I think he only missed like five shots 13 for 18 yeah that boy can score man I tell

You so um you know I’m very blessed to to have someone like him especially he’s only 22 years old which makes it even crazier you know that the sky is the limit for him you know and The Best Is Yet To Come round you mentioned that you

Were going to be ready this was a game that you were looking forward to playing what was just your mindset going into this game and what did you read that allowed you to go off just uh really just go out and dominate play my game don’t overthink it cuz I know sometimes

The teams every team guards me differently so sometimes I don’t really think but a little thinking into it like all right do I have to pass or is I have to get going first then pass so today I was just they let me get going early

Then the pass opened up for me got teammates open shot so I feel like I played a pretty good game pretty complete game today so I just got to keep it up Lonnie just said that sky is the limit and you know there’s only a matter of time that you’re going to go

Off the way that they were guarding you was there something that you saw or just read that defensively what they were doing that you could tell that you that you could capitalize um really no it was just it did a lot bit like everything switching drop coverage so I knew if I

Just get the match up I won just get to my spots then you know anything could happen find Clacks on the lives cuz I knew going to the paint um ad will come over and try toest everything all my layups so I knew the lob would be there

For Clacks and then you know they give up a lot of um mid-range floaters and stuff you know that’s that’s my game so you know I’ll just get to that early get a flow get to the room so then the three was falling for me today finally so

Finally so that was um so that really opens everything up for me when that’s falling then I feel like there’s nothing much anybody can do so what was special about that third quarter for you guys as a group that allowed you guys to outscore them 38 to 22 sh we started

Good we started good that’s the good thing we started good that’s really the main thing too we started good had good energy um we seen that halftime you know we had to get a little more physical a little bit more physical on them then that’s what we did and then soon as we

Got physical the energy picked up you know we started getting turnovers a lot of Fast Break layups um fast break threes a lot of good looks you know we had a lot of good looks today we made them so that’s why I said we we just

Make them we we going to be in a lot of games we just got to make them so that was really you know really a positive for us not time to press the panic button yet but uh clearly a setback for sure at least the feeling right now with

This team big game James after a couple of those wins climbing out of a hole and you feel like you drop right back into when you lose to a team like the Nets and the way they lost kind of with everything falling apart in the second

Half yeah as soon as it seems like they’re they’re turning it around and I mean they they had an uphill battle of course they had players out uh you know since the inseason tournament they’ve had different lineups so I get it trying to be patient with that and and they

Were losing some games that they were playing hard and trying to win but when you start a trend you get players back you know uh Vanderbilt’s fully healthy you you you get DLo and the starting lineup the way you want it you win against some really good teams and then

You come home and you you you know you drop this this this big stink bomb uh when you should be you know beating the Brooklyn Nets they’re trending in the wrong way but they are professionals and you cannot take them for granted and I thought the Lakers kind of just you know

Rested on the Loyals after they got that big first half but when they got it to five or six there I told myself I said Brooklyn’s going to come out and they’re going to be on fire and they did because they sensed that the Lakers were kind of

Like uh playing with them towing with them a team that’s supposed to be beating they know when you’re beat taking them seriously and putting them out and and and and the the Brooklyn sensed that okay y’all want to play like this they came up and they hit

Threes they were the one of the worst three-point shooting teams in the league and they they they hit them tonight partly because the defense was extremely poor in the second half I want to give you guys a quote from from Claxton on the other side he said they were flat in

The second half they came out flat we took advantage of that they were complaining about calls we did what we had to do yeah it’s true and like and like you said you you don’t want to you kind of wake up a sleeping giant especially

Toying with them and you get a guy like Cam he’s going to be an Allstar one day mhm right you got to put guys like him away he’s going to be a problem he’s actually showing it he he showed it tonight you and we just got to kind of

Make a change really really quick all right let’s go back inside the Laker locker room LeBron is there with Ally R after a nine-point lead there in the first quarter what kind of changed in your mind from the second on uh cam Thomas um our defense you know I think we was

Up like you said 30 2 no 37 28 or 29 whatever it was and uh the second quarter he you know put the pressure on us and you know all the way to halftime we still was kind of close in the third quarter we got 38 points we not going

Win like that what’s the challenge with stopping sometimes it is players to your point but when a team catches momentum I mean it’s hard I because then everybody’s in a rhythm I thought um we were step slow at times you know get into their Shooters um they shot the

Ball well you know then they got into the paint as well you know they just broke us down all all game especially in that second half to alli’s Point like obviously a confident team with rhythm uh can look completely different um than a team that doesn’t have that uh in your experience

Are there tricks are there are there shifts um that that you can go to to try to Halt that I mean we tried different looks we went Zone you know for some possessions they gave us some good looks um you know as far as getting stops um

But you know at the end of the day they was able to get into a rhythm um and like I said shot the ball extremely well from the perimeter and then um you know like I said cam thas had it going all night Darin felt like um or he told us

That he said that perhaps your guys missing shots affected your energy on the other end um is is that kind of a a natural thing that can happen to a basketball team no I thought us not getting stops affected our energy personally we just you know you

Can’t trade baskets or when we miss we’re not getting no stops we got to get stops and we weren’t getting stops um like I said we gave up 38 and that third you guys missed quite a few shots in the paint especially in that second half just could you feel guys were

Trying to press it trying to get it all the back just on one shot in one moment during some of those BS no U when you’re trying to get it all the back that’s when you shooting a bunch of jump shots we living in a pain we’re just missing we’re just missing

Bunnies your confidence level of just like letting this one go and moving forward or having a hangover how do you break that up and make sure this doesn’t carry over to another game uh watch NFL playoffs tomorrow that’s what I’ll do thanks bro I mean I personally I

Agree that’s exactly what I’m going to do tomorrow I’m going to watch the NFL playoffs and see if I can get past this game but uh I also agree with LeBron that uh you’re not getting stops it’s killing the energy and and he can’t give up 38 in the third

Quarter no you when when you’re not getting stops and teams just pointed down your throat uh and and and and you sense you sense that they know that they they they can score on you they that respect things gone out the window that third quarter and Brooklyn was just

Balling and they had they had players that can ball it’s like pickup game at that point and the defense just went away and Brooklyn’s defense picked up Lakers couldn’t buy a bucket they couldn’t get anything going and I think they knew that that they had given Brooklyn

Light body language was bad yeah a lot of a lot of Drives By Brooklyn no help MH you know I think the game is a little bit more spread out now than it was but it’s still some basic concepts coming over helping your teammate stunting for your teammate moving the ball on offense

Moving the bodies on offense different things like that I think that could really help this team ad picking off py backing off what Braun mentioned about cam Thomas what kind of challenge did he present for you guys and how tough was it to obviously stop it once it carried over to their

Squad a score um got into a rhythm um do different looks at him try to trap him uh deny him you know uh I’ll take him in zone slow him down um he just kept going uh you can shoot the basketball you three level score and

Then you know uh once he got in the Rhythm the other guys got in the Rhythm start making shots as well especially in the third quarter um you know uh our defense was terrible in the third quarter especially um second half overall but third quarter especially and um you know

On once them guys start getting confidence and uh playing free um you know it was tough for us to come back especially when we were missing shots how frustrating is it understanding right now the timing you guys wanting to build momentum being here at home especially this month and

To have a night like tonight uh very frustrating um know you have uh know two know great games um against two solid opponents uh two statement wins in a sense and uh you know just want to carry that momentum to tonight and uh know we came

Out you know with that carryover and uh you know just come out of second half with a defensive uh presence um and them guys came out at uh score 38 and a third when you’re team um and the position you are like knowing that you got to make up

Some ground to um put yourself in a good position in the Western Conference how do you separate at night like tonight versus West being on the last month and and would you put what occurred tonight um reminiscent of of the slump or do you

Think there was it was a kind of his own own thing tonight um little bit of both uh kind of been like a constant thing for us but you know like I said when you get you know two you know you’re trying to find a rhythm and you have two great games on

Both sides of the of the floor um then you kind of just revert back in the second half of this game and um practically play no defense you know against these guys and guys getting wide open shots wide open layup wide open dunks um we filing

Uh so I mean just wasn’t rebounding you know so I think everything on the defensive end uh know we just didn’t do and allowed them guys to get in the Rhythm and now you’re playing with confidence and you know uh the ram is a lot bigger for those guys ad what are

The what are the things defensively that you did especially with that smaller group that’s starting now like the last couple games and that weren’t there in the third quarter what what are the specific areas um I think it was just you know a lot of miscommunication uh you that’s when we

Were supposed to go over scen we went under some uh you know we score and then they come right back and get a wide open layup and transition which doesn’t make sense um you know some miscommunication where you know we’re hoping probably when we shouldn’t the coverage is kind

Of messed up and they’re swinging the ball and guys are getting wide open threes um just things like that that uh we’ve been able to control the past couple games and just didn’t doing the third quarter offensively you guys missed uh half your shots in the paint do you feel

Like guys were kind of pressing a bit to make up the deficit in the second half or was it just an off night from kind of missing pluck leg shots um I we were getting there a level of concentration just to finish um you know we want to get into the

Paint know we did and at that point just a level of concentration to finish or um you know drawing the defense in and kicking it out to to make shots but um it was anas to get into the paint we did that just didn’t finish is it concerning

That you guys have had you know so many inconsistent performances across this last month or so you haven’t been able to have as much positive carryover for maybe week to week as you you guys may have wed no I want say concerning frustration for sure um concerning is when you know that

You’re not a good team and you can’t do it frustration comes from the point where we know what we can do we shown it and we’re not doing it so it’s more frustrating than concerning for me you got hit in the eye pretty bad in the

First it looks like it was swelling up and you could only see out of one uh no not see out of both all right last question you talked a little bit you’ve had ups and downs ups and downs how do you prevent this one from carrying over

What are things that work for you it might work for this team to just avoid a hangover going in the first quarter of the next game come in locked in um like I said we’ve been struggling in the first quarters but as of late the past couple games even tonight uh we’ve been

Pretty solid I think we’re up 12 at the end of the first so um you know we just got to come out with a different Focus uh in the second quarter and and coming out of halftime and just locking in on defensive thanks thanks

  1. The shade towards the Nets instead of taking accountability for the loss.

Worthy called the Lakers an "elite team" 😂 and kept saying the Lakers were disrespecting Brooklyn? No, the Lakers just weren't playing good basketball.

  2. Lebron did not play defense. He was already watching the nfl last night. The coach cannot make the in game adjustments.

  3. It kills me that everyone else's deficiencies get spotlighted except for Reaves'. It's games like this that show he's done nothing to make him untouchable. Make the trade!!

  4. Wasn't everyone saying the lakers were back after 2 wins? Now of course lebron needs more help. The league is a joke. Led by lebron.

  5. they should be 4 -0 with the portland game left…yet..they went 2-1
When you have good players and you are bad…it's the coach..Ham got to go

  6. Lebron wins : “ he’s the goat , still doing this at almost 40!”
Lebron loses: “ he can’t be expected to carry this load at almost 40, he needs help !”
    💀

  7. Also there's still a lot of basketball left in the season. Don't trip! Stop whining Laker family, we cheer for our team no matter they winning or not!

  8. Why isn’t the media addressing the elephant in the room.

Lebron isn’t playing defence … he plays well for his age but is running out of breath every game. He’s lost his stamina but people don’t want to call it out. Instead they blame the teammates and the coach. Please call out the obvious

  9. This is on ham once again😂! Dlo even took shots at him during press conference stating that Brooklyn coach is good and drew up plays to get them back in the game and snow balled us!

  10. Just go snd retire LeBron james is hurting that Lakers team trade him while you can get some value..Lakers need to rebuild from the ground up .

  11. An elite team would not be languishing below 500 so its time to admit that lakers are not an elite team.

  12. Lebron is too busy bitching and crying to get back on defense. They need to trade lebron while he has trade value. Get a superstar and some pieces to start a rebuild.

  13. 💔"This game showed us that the current challenge lies in the shortage of high-quality bench players. A robust supporting cast is crucial for our stars. It's essential that our bench players are consistent and thoroughly understand their roles. Presently, we lack players who grasp their game and responsibilities to the extent that the Lakers can’t count on a predictable performance from their bench. Do you share this perspective?"

  14. I guess Adam Silver has to offer another cash prize of $500,000 to get those overpaid overrated Lakers to start winning again 😂😂😂😂😂

  15. This is a horrible loss to a bad Nets team. Something must give. Either Ham will get axe. Or, RUSSELL and/or REAVES gonna be traded. Again, Lakers are trending in the wrong spot at this crucial moment in trying to return to a possible NBA PLAYOFF TITLE. Doc Rivers can catapult Lakers to another level. Moreover, a possible trade are necessary now. It's now or never for LBJ to battle for another NBA TITLE.

  16. The Lakers need to shift to playing around AD and not LeBron. This isn't LBJ hate like a lot of people saying trade him or even bench him (😱). More of leaning into what makes your best player the most comfortable and effective. AD is a great defensive player who can also be great on offense. More suited to be the four man which would free him up on defense. Cristian Wood can stretch the floor at the 5. LBJ can play his more tradition SF shooting nearly 40% from the three. DLo and AR inherently are the both the problem and the answers. The Lakers are n DESPERATE need of guards who can actually guard and provide offense. When those guys weren't starting the lineup lacked offensive punch but even more ball handling and playmaking. When they start they don't have the defense to make up for off shooting nights. Rui, Vandy, Cam, Prince ; Somebody gotta go. Too redundant for a group that needs backcourt help like three weeks ago. Gabe Vincent swing and miss another Kendrick Nunn 😢😢😢😢

  17. Someone put it well point foward about lebron he becomes the main handler and he shouldn't cause then the others become obcelete and defensively he dose nothing and their home games are meaningless cause the refs can only save them to a point till people can see they can only be saved yo a point

  18. DLO and Austin can’t guard.
    LeBron’s on-court leadership/body language is bad.
    Prince and RUI are confused.
    Gabe is STILL hurt.
Darwin came expecting to rely on LeBron.
Wood does t get enough playing team cause he doesn’t understand he HAS to defend.

  19. The Lakers always get in trouble when they stop doing things that worl for them. D’Lo and AD we’re dominating in the first half, only for them bith to have their touches minimized so Lebron could run the offense. Bron is still great, but was also struggling with his shot. It also doesn’t help that Darvin also didn’t play Vando long enough in favor of Prince. Lakers have more then enough talent, and it sucks seeing guys not being utilized properly.

  20. James said it: stop this embarrasment at home. Can't ad nothing to that. The moment these players start realizing that the time of having only talent is over, they will take every position seriously. Is about wanting it. This game is for people who out there every night, and the kick is, I'm going to outplay you, so tgat the next time we meet, you know that I'll be doing it again and again. No mather how much talent you have, I'm going ti come hard 🫡

  21. So Ham dropped the hammer on the team. Indeed decide who you want to be 🧐. This is where I think that Anthony(not Lebron, we want AD to be the leader) has to make people accountable. Play defense like me or get the hell out. D'lo how long you need to figure things out 🥵

  22. Plaese folks we shouldn't be talking about the lakers without not talking about getting rid of Coach Ham and DLO. These are the main root issues of success failure of the ball club, get rid of them.

  23. Lebron is horrible on defense. Liability… Complaining and not getting back on defense. TURNOVERS as USUAL. QUITS ON DEFENSE WHEN HE MISSES A SHOT. STEROIDS NEEDED MAYBE I DON'T KNOW 🤣🤣🤣🤣

  24. Nic Claxton said the lakers came out flat in yhe 3rd quarter and they were complaining about fouls , so they as in thr nets took advantage of it , they lost this game cause of bron plain and simple, cause what Claxton said was everything that bron did smh bron needs to hold himself accountable and say i messed up its my fault we lose but he would never, AD has done it no humility in bron
