RJ Barrett’s FUTURE with the Toronto Raptors..

RJ Barrett’s FUTURE with the Toronto Raptors..

The Toronto Raptors are moving towards a rebuild and with that in mind on December 30th of 2023 the Raptors acquired the former number three pick in arj Barrett from the New York Knicks now some of you know him as Maple mamba or the kid that was scared to be on top of

The CN tower like you know you’re going to die but like you’d be falling forever really since the trade the Raptors have a record of four wins and eight losses which doesn’t look good by any means but if you factor in the direction the franchise is heading

Towards I think you can live with that and let’s not forget yaka portal missed a lot of time in those last 12 games as a Raptors fan I know that it’s going to be a long season it’s a season of rebuild it’s a season of developing our

Young guys and with that in mind I’m very happy to have a guy like arj Baron on my team let me first break down his numbers to you before we get into some film after arriving to the Raptors arj saw a jump in most of his statistical categories 21 points seven rebounds on

Three assists shooting 38% from the three on four attempts in 33 minutes of play compared to 14 points four rebounds and three assists with the Knicks shooting 32% from the three on three attempts playing 30 minutes now I don’t know about you but if I’m doing Simple

Math that’s a big Improvement in all those statistical categories that I just mentioned let’s keep in mind that RJ bar is only 23 years old he’s 2 years away from entering his Prime and I truly believe that he’ll take a collective lead with Scotty Barnes and Emanuel

Quickly by his side for the foreseeable future now let me ask you all a question do you see RJ Barrett as a number one or number two option on a championship team but before you answer that question in the comments let me show you what he

Brought to the Raptors in the last 12 games I’ve actually been very impressed with arj be’s ability to finish out the rim this guy is aggressive very aggressive towards attacking the basket he’s currently finishing 64.5% of his drafts to the rim and if you take a look at the heat map you’ll

Notice that RJ gets most of his points at The Rim in this play you’ll notice that that he saw James Harden slagging off so he took the opportunity to beat Harden with his speed and throw down a hammer at The Rim something we haven’t really seen since Demar DE rozan after

Noticing that jont Porter is taking jiren Jackson Jr away from the paint AR decides to take advantage of that open Lane towards the rim considering he’s a lefty dribbler taking Alama off the dribble and hunting for an n one was just a no-brainer whenever RJ identifies a mismatch he’s always looking to attack

The rim noticing that dear and fox is marking him on transition he does doesn’t hesitate to take advantage of that mismatch and drive straight to the rim he does the same when Malik Mong decides to match up against him RJ gets himself into the triple threat and

Drives straight to the rim for a high percentage bucket even against a taller Defender arj stays focused on attacking the basket Zer Williams is 3 in taller than RJ but that doesn’t stop RJ from going to his bag and making that basket just take a look at Zer Williams in this

Play he knows he tried his best but there’s no way you’re stopping a guy when he’s in his bag like that RJ Bear’s footwork is up there there with some of the best players in the league in this play yakob created space for arj to operate and noticing that space he

Decides to not OP in for open three but instead go to work on cavon Looney just take a look at how well he’s able to work through the traffic and find that high percentage lift to the rim I’ve been really enjoying the decisions he’s been making on the court and as a

23-year-old I love that he’s very decisive as to what he wants to do every single time he gets the ball he’s also been an above average three-point shooter since arriving to the Raptors now it’s important to keep in mind that a lot of his converted threes were open

Catch and shoot opportunities but seeing a guy that’s not known to be a shooter convert 38% of his threes is a very promising thing to see now he’s only 23 as I mentioned earlier and under the Raptors coaching staff I can definitely see him develop into a really solid three-point shooter averaging somewhere

Between 35 to 38% from the three now let’s talk about his defense because on this Raptors team even though our defensive identity has slipped away this year I do want RJ to develop into a really good Wing Defender I do see a lot of Promise in his abilities to defend

During the Memphis game he did a great job of jiren Jackson Jr a player that is stronger and is also 5 in taller than RJ Barrett he held JJJ to one of five attempts as a help Defender RJ also did a great job of guarding the three-point

Line holding Santi Al dama on Luke Canard to a combined of two of seven attempts now do I think RJ will develop into a great point of attack Defender I wouldn’t bet on it but I do like that he stays with his man and increases the difficulty of the shot attempt he does

Have a lot of work to do in that department but as a guy who’s going to be a second option on this franchise at this moment I think that this should motivate him to be a better Defender to work hard in the gym and continue to get

Better as I mentioned that he’s only 23 years old so the sky’s the limit for a guy like RJ so far I’ve been very impressed how he’s been playing for the Raptors he’s trending upwards and as a 23-year-old which I keep mentioning and considering that he’s playing for his

Home City I only see him trending upwards from here the Raptors are in desperate need of players that can give them an offensive punch besides Scotty Barnes and I believe RJ Barrett can be that guy for them with that being said let me know what you guys think his

Ceiling will be do you think that he can be a number one or two option on a championship team or even a contending team just let me know what you think in the comments and what do you think his stats will be when he reaches his

Ceiling in the next four years now make sure to let me know in the comments and don’t forget to subscribe to the channel if you want to support my content I do want to announce that I stream Raptors games regularly on playback. tv/ hallof takes so feel free to come and hang out

  1. Great video and breakdown of numbers but also how he's played on both ends of the court. I definitely agree his decisiveness and aggressive play is what stands out on offense. Good help defender and that will improve with time and willingness to be a better defender.

  2. I’m happy for your channel channel for sure it’s going to grow. I love your content. Not so many to do this analysis the way you’re doing it. I will definitely support you subscribe and like your video just be consistent and your channel will blow up.
