  1. You can promise defensive-mindedness all you want, but the personnel is what it is. You are not getting stops with Jordan Poole, Tyus Jones, Corey Kispert, and Marvin Bagley featuring prominently in your rotation.

In a world where basketball philosophy has generally changed towards a focus of scoring more than their opponents, we’re zagging and looking to focus on having opponents score less than us.

    Aight.

If you could just talk defense into existence then Unseld would still be the coach. Whatever tho I hope this Queef guy just keeps up the tank.

This does not inspire me with confidence that we’ll see Bilal get more opportunities as he should.

I’m not going to read too much into this. Going into the Wes hire, we were promised defensive mindedness, after coming off of some horrible Scott Brooks defensive effort, and look how that turned out.

We gotta build this team back up before I’ll believe defense is going to get played anytime soon. Until then, I’m taking these L’s on the chin. This is just typical GM talk, because nobody is expecting this current squad to be ball stoppers.

I mean Dawkins has to say *something* about what’s going to be different with the new guy. Might as well just pick a random cliche out of a hat, why not.

Firing just weird to me. Especially after giving him a extension. Like is it really that big of a deal that we on pace to win 14 games instead of 21? What was expected? For all this they might as well have just fired WUJ in the offseason

“Defensive growth” does not equal elite defensive performance. He’s basically talking about consistent effort and accountability. Tanking is a waste if we’re not vetting the whole roster, instilling good habits, and developing future talent.
