Ivica Zubac Gets Real About The Lakers Trading Him To The Clippers

I want to know what was your reaction when you heard about when you was getting traded to the Clippers it was tough it was uh I mean I kind of knew I mean I didn’t I did and I didn’t all the young guys like two three weeks before that like

Everyone was it was like we were all young second third year in the league and everyone was like no one wanted to play like we we played but everyone everyone was so worried about the deadline like no one knew what was going to happen happened and they knew

Something was going to happen right and then it ended up just being me uh I was in Boston I I got they called me like 15 minutes before deadline magic and Rob on the phone they’re like you going to we’re trading you appreciate you for everything blah

Blah blah and I’m like just tell me where I’m going they say Clippers okay okay I stay in the same city I Ain going nowhere I’m I’m cool with that I’m cool with that they say um they just waved marcine Gortat so you’re going to be a starter you’re going to

Get a big opportunity and you know that’s something I was thankful for uh you know they traded me to a place where I was going to play and uh Then I then I was like okay whatever thank you guys whatever hung up had uh doc Steve Jerry

West uh lawren friend they all called me on the phone I’m like who did you guys sh they say they said uh Mike muscala I was a little surprised but uh then I remember that year we play Philly muscala had 20 something against us he played probably one of the better games

He ever had and I like okay they you know they they seen that game they they did that trade and uh I was cool with it I was happy with it I I went somewhere where I was like I’m a starter every night going to get my minutes it’s a

Young team and I was happy at the end of day you got to stay home exactly the crazy part is we was playing the boss when I was with the Lakers we had a around we play We were supposed to play Boston that night I get

Traded after Sho around I call uh I get a call I look up Clipper schedule they playing in Indiana that night and they flying to Boston tomorrow so I didn’t even switch hotels or anything stayed the St Hotel played the game in Boston went back to same house same everything come

On easiest easiest trade ever I think it was and now look you going get your own Arena soon exactly big time I’m kind of curious if if you can share a shed a little light on this cuz you know in Los Angeles California it’s known it’s been

Known as a Laker town and so you’ve had the opportunity to play for both both Los Angeles teams and I know Russ has but we we haven’t been able able to ask Russ yet hopefully Russ comes on the podcast soon but from your perspective as a player what’s the biggest thing

That you could point to that like the big differences of being a Laker and being a Clipper whether that’s your day-to-day whether that’s the the media the the whatever it may be everything media media like coverage of the Lakers is way bigger than the Clippers there’s you play Under more Spotlight there’s

More pressure every night and just the amount of people that love the Lakers the fans it’s crazy and uh I I remember like I was when I played with the Lakers I was I was no I didn’t make a name for myself in the league like I didn’t play

A lot everywhere I went they they knew who I was and uh nowadays they know who I am but when they talk to me they’re like oh man I’m so mad we traded you you know I’m mad you’re with a clippers and stuff like that but it’s just it’s just

Crazy the house this city how they love the Lakers and uh I felt I felt their love from uh you know from the other side and uh it was it’s really it’s really cool being a Laker uh having that support that amount of the people but uh

Being with a Clippers now I wouldn’t change it for anything both I think the tide is turning I think I think the tide is turning for sure tide is turning it is though like for real like over the years now it’s more like especially like

When I just got traed when I when I just got traded there you know it was that was not a lot you know there was not a lot of people and then we signed PG and Kawai and that’s when it started turning yeah and it’s every year it’s been

  1. Tides is turning! how?
    Clippers IG: 5 Million
    Lakers: 23 million

in the last 5 years lakers won an NBA championship and an NBA cup
    Clippers: NOTHING.

  2. The tide is not turning there’s a lot of fake clipper fans bro LA will always be a Laker town y’all tripping y’all should of went to Vegas or San Diego

  3. Clippers do this trade please money matches and both teams win

Mann, Pj, Bones, Plumlee, Boston Jr.
    For
    Derozen(la boy) & Drummond

    Pg: Harden/Russ
    SG: Derozen/Powell
    Sf: George/Coffey
    Pf: Khawi/Theis
    C: Zubac/Drummond

Championship and Great LA Core top bring to new arena

  4. i was dis-appointed too that Zubac left the lakers, but happy for him that he's having a great time and that he has a great chance to win with some great players…

  5. I got a take about why James is going to win this year, with the nets he had only 1 person to rely on when he struggled offensively. the sixers he had no one show up in the play offs.
But now that he has kawhi Westbrook and Powell and sometimes pg. he can struggle on offense but create for his team better than ever. I’m confident that kawhi will be like nets KD to where you can rely on him and Russ won’t be injured this year sense he is not getting so many minutes so imagine a healthy harden kawhi and Russ alone now the X factor will be Paul George this year and if norman keeps shooting threes this efficient it’s over. I’m not that worried about zu being injured unless we are going against the lakers or nuggets or rockets.

  6. Pandemic P and crybaby Zu. If you didn't whine to the refs every night u probably would still be a Laker, no cap. The tide is not turning and never will. Toilets!!

  7. Not relevant to anything going on really I think PG will retire a clip, but why have the warriors never target PG? He’d be my number 1 prospect besides KD era to target. Fits seamless

  8. I got on you guys during the bad stretch. Got to say couldn’t be happier you guys have turned it around. Exciting fun to watch. Hand up that’s on me. Man enough to take it back and admit I was being emotional at the time 😂

  9. Was dumbest trade ever. When I knew Magic sucked at management trading ZUBAC& Lou Williams next. Idiotic. Both were playing well. Must've been side business favor
