Blake Wesley Fame

I saw Cedi Osman’s shootaround interview yesterday, and around the 2 minute mark, he started talking about Blake Wesley and how he’s getting a reputation around the league for his tough defense. Yesterday he put a good effort defending SGA, which is amazing considering it’s baptism by fire.

Have you guys heard opponents talk about his defense? I’m so excited to see the future defensive potential of a Wesley Sochan Wemby lineup.

Big shout-out to Blake for not giving up. He always looks desperate to not make mistakes because he wants to play so badly. He’s got a bright future ahead of him

I was high on Wesley and he seems to be developing the parts of his game that will make him a rotation player in the nba. I still think he has a high ceiling, time will tell if he has the mindset, work ethic and drive to reach it

i was the guy that was the lowest ever on him i swear and usually i tend to overrate potential a little bit. im never been this surprised to see such a growth, im really happy. i don’t see him as a starter but from seeing him as garbage to potentially a solid bench energy spark is a lot. love him

I felt like one of the last people left on Blake Wesley Island this season, so I’m happy to see the kid figuring it out.

He was always drafted by the front office with them clearly knowing he was going to take some time. Anyone who watched him at Notre Dame knew that

He had moments even in college where he was an out of control mess

But he’s already the team’s best perimeter defender and is starting to figure things out as a point guard too.

His ceiling and floor are still absolutely miles apart and it’s pretty impossible to guess where he’ll be in a couple years

But I’ve been really excited to see how much he has improved

  5. What I love about him the most is he plays with the same intensity, whether it’s garbage time or he’s in the middle of a close game. Same with Cedi and Mamu. Can’t say the same for our other players though.

I kinda wanna see him at least try to make the transition to a full time point guard with the facilitating to go along with it (like the Sochan experiment). Because he is one of the few players in the league, let alone the Spurs, play correct perimeter defense. There were more than a few possessions last night where he guarded SGA perfectly without fouling.
