Open Gym Pres. By Bell S12E12 | New Era

While it felt inevitable the ever swirling rumors around seak have come to fruition as earlier today he was traded to the Indiana Pacers for Bruce Brown as well as three firstr draft picks tonight officially marks the beginning of a new era as the team says goodbye to a

Franchise icon and gears up for a future led by Scotty Barnes who can hope to have as significant an impact as Pascal sakam over the course of his 510 career games in the six that’s a tough couple weeks for us uh here um with uh the trades we’ve made uh losing

Um uh the players Pascal sakam oana noi uh precious atua and Malachi Flynn obviously we know what these players meant uh to our program incredible incredible human beings incredible character Incredible players and what they brought to our Franchise so how excited are you to take on this next chapter relatively unknown to uh a lot of fans so far your front Court guys playing solid on the inside tell you what he’s showing no sign of Jenis on opening night his first NBA game he’s the prototypical great to

Development story right he came here no one knew anything about him Mexico State 10 years playing only from Cameroon no one had a clue who he was at all he is the guy that when the Raptors decades are now write their story as developmental organization he’s the gold

Standard all that he went through to make himself an all NBA player and that of course was time in the g-league and winning a title there and a Finals MVP there I have so admiration for Pascal and his work ethic on a daily basis to make himself who he is as a player

Spicy being a most improved player an Allstar all NBA player and then being an integral part of the Raptors Championship run Theo Raptors the 2019 e champion was that open JY what you got to say bro open JY talk to me talk to me open JY everything he did on the court he

Earned everything he accomplished in his career he earned and I I think he’s a great example to any player coming in here that you know if you put in the work and you you go about your business the right way and you’re a good person and a good teammate unbelievable things can happen

Yes and he developed himself into one of the greatest Raptors that ever that ever played here and he should be really proud of that Pascal spin move how pretty is that spin around there as any player the outside noise is the toughest to deal with till you step

In between the lines and he was was able to handle that do his job and play well what he meant to this organization he loved it um and he came every day ready to work and continue to get better and just [Applause] grow yeah two African guys that won a

Championship share that with him and and I think of his dad and um Pascal at basketball Without Borders that guy’s success is My Success no matter where he is not a lot of people know know about me definitely have that chip on my shoulder you know to be to just go out

There and and show that I belong you know I definitely feel like I’m ready man I’m excited to to go out there in Canada having the fans there I think it would just be exciting you know I know I can help this team right now and I also

Garden a lot of different emotions looking forward to the game competing uh and trying to get a win good excited very excited I try to do some visualization some of it I can’t do cuz I just don’t know what the other side looks like yeah I have no clue what to expect I’m

Just try to keep my emotions in check I guess coming in at 19 and then you know leaving at 23 like they definitely helped me grow up so um I’ll I’ll never forget New York I’ll never forget the place and and all the people you know whatever happens in the garden I

Appreciate them regardless see this is not this baby the side alone it’s a Saturday night in New York city where the Raptors will face some familiar faces the first game between these two teams since Toronto traded OG and anobi Maliki Flynn precious TOA to New York in exchange for RJ Barrett and

But so no that was cool very appreciative appreciative of my time here and um yeah to come back had a lot of emotions for sure um but that it just it was fun to play basketball here again I mean I’ve been tripped the whole day since since the Scout report since I

Seen Nicks I’m like wait what it just like the whole day was just a little different for me but good to see my friends obviously wanted to win but good luck to all of them we’re hyp man we’re having fun you know being able to go against playing against your friends is

Always it’s always a lot of fun to see what it’s like you know on the other side um I had fun competing and uh yeah looking forward to more battles a lot of uh positive memories for both sides in terms of making their return against former teammates and OJ anobi precious

Auua Malachi Flint playing the wraps and of course RJ bar and manual quickly back here in the garden tonight it may be a little bit of a process it might be a little rocky along the way but at least we know the direction of the Toronto Raptors reboot

Rebuild retool whatever way way you want to put it this is the beginning part of the climb back there’s no doubt that it’s going to be ushering in a new era we’ve been really blessed with what Kyle Namar started 10 years ago now and it kind of

Just kept rolling over and what passed over to Pascal and Fred and OG and now it’s kind of ran this course and you get to see what a new group can do this is all in preparation for that next major jump forward into the upper echelon of the Eastern

Conference pushing this team you know to continue to play the right way to learn uh to get opportunity and to win when they can um that’s what we’re going to do here family on three 1 2 3 Family let’s hear oh johned out by the blender rookie mov oh so sad audio Magic Eraser you kidding me h Hello pixel in the clutch share that with Grandma Google pixel 8 even better with Belle

In this week’s episode of Open Gym, the career of Pascal Siakam as a Toronto Raptor is celebrated as he is traded to the Indiana Pacers for 3 first-round draft picks, Bruce Brown, Jordan Nwora, and Kira Lewis Jr. The team plays in New York as newcomers RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley navigate playing in Madison Square Garden as opposing players.

  1. Scottie being given the keys at 22 is a blessing in disguise. He got time to figure it out and I can't wait to see what he becomes for us. Likewise with RJ and Quick.

  2. This kid never let anything phase him. I remember Bobby Portis tried to get in his face and he just kept shouting AND ONE through it.. He faced a lot in his personal life but channeled it into his commitment to the team.. We always recognize when a we get a rare one here in TO but we got a uniquely rare one with Skills. Legend. So happy he's happy.

  3. Wasn't expecting to tear up watching this lmaooo. I've watched this mans whole career from the beginning. I hope the Pacers play well this offseason. We The North <3.

  4. As a Knicks fan this brought tears to my eyes. I miss RJ and Quick. But, I’ve adopted the Raptors so I don’t have to miss them as much. I still watch every game.

  5. Wish we would of spent 20 or 30 million around the stars we let go. The teams competing are spending on 2 solid lines not one. The rest of this year is going to stink and i hope no one gets a serious injury.

  6. I like the new players and they all just have to find their groove but sad to see OG and especiallh Siakam go 💔
