Bojan: Sniper from 3 and good offensive player but terrible defender and does not rebound. Is trading a first (maybe even more) for him worth it when he matches up so poorly against Boston?

Not worth it imo esp if we’re talking Boston. We’ve had shooters who couldn’t defend a lick before (Seth, JJ, Marco) and they don’t tend to do well deep in the playoffs. Might as well save the first for someone else

Not for a first. Seconds and springer id do it. Offensively hes the perfect fit

I haven’t seen anyone suggest that a first+ is worth it. I certainly don’t think it is. I don’t even think moving any of our potential trade sweetener, like seconds or Jaden Springer, are worth it, but I can see the argument otherwise.

hes a really limited player. cant rebound, not a good defender at all, no secondary playmaking. and hes got money guaranteed for next year (its a small amount)

hes making $20m, which is kind of an awkward amount for us to trade. id swap covington (who might not play again this season) and kork for him, but we’d still be short on salary going out in that deal. and im not adding any first round pick for him, unless its like top 28 protected

  5. Bojan was actually a fine defender with the jazz and played majors mins in the playoffs. I know he’s gotten older and hasn’t really played a lick of defense for the pistons. But it’s hard to care about defense j. That culture. If he gets traded to the sixers, I’m confident he could give us 20-25 mins in the playoffs per game. Dude is a bomber from 3 and can get his own bucket

In 2024, defense is dead. Name me the team playing defense, even the Timberwolves who started hot have fallen off a cliff. Worrying about an individual defender’s defense is such a 2008/2010 mindset.

Can teams guard Embiid? They can’t, not really. So teams don’t build with that idea. We can’t guard Tatum/Brown, that’s just the way it is.

The key is, Boston has elite swing skillsets everywhere else. And we don’t have anyone on Bojan’s level, none.

When we name guys like Bellinelli, Redick, etc. Bojan is a different animal entirely.

Belli, Seth, JJ, None of the 3 had shot creation ability. Bojan on the other hand has actually aged like wine on offense, looking more comfortable on the ball due to the Pistons malpractice. He’s capable of drawing fouls and hitting them at an 85% clip. He’s capable of both spotting up from 3, and catch and shoot 3’s.

The thing is, he never played with a primary creator in his career. The best this guy got was Mike Conley and Donovan Mitchell(luls). So he developed into this multifaceted offensive weapon, all on his own.

Now imagine splashing this weapon between Embiid/Maxey, even for stretches. Embiid/Maxey are already putting up ridiculous numbers with a slightly below average(at best) supporting cast. Having Bojan spot up would free the court up for both.

Maxey’s skip passes could actually hit a shooter. I’m interested in a Bojan being able to play off the 2-man game/pinch-pass post with Joel Embiid. His offensive profile suggests he’d be able to take off.

In 2024, an offensive player like Bojan brings more to the table to the 76ers because we can’t continue this 85-95% offensive split with Embiid/Maxey.

  7. Detroit isn’t getting a first for him. The Rozier trade set the price for one dimensional shooters. Rozier is younger and better so Bojan will bring less

I see Neil Hartman has found the fountain of youth.

A first? No. A second and non-essential bench player, yes.

I would do it for a first. Its up to the coach to play him at the right times to maximize his effectiveness. Lets not kid oursevles about the defensive effectiveness of Marcus Morris and even Harris against Tatum. Remember Bojan played a ton of minutes on a Utah team that had the best record in the league one year and won a bunch of games every year he was there. Sure they didnt perform great in the playoffs but it would be unfair to give him a lot of the blame for that. Also, we have to get to Boston. Lets not pencil in beating the Milwaukee Bucks, Knicks, and Indiana Pacers if we face any of them before Boston just yet!

It’s not worth giving up a lot but you would much rather have him taking those Morris minutes

  12. Specific-Economy-926

Nope. Boston is the mark. Two way players only.

  13. I would easily give up two 2nds for bojan, sign kyle Lowry after he gets bought out and let’s roll

  14. aspiringplebeian

Only if that’s the offering for the other Bogdanovic.

  15. Ok-Association-4790

He played well against Boston this season, I think you are underestimating how good off the ball he is. He would be critical against the Celtics and their gameplan which is just help and rotate.

  16. Bojan is kinda like a slower albeit slightly larger version of the Boston bench duo in Hauser and Pritchard.

  17. Madd_Squabbles

Short answer, naw. Long answer, hell naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw!

  18. 1HasNoNam3

    Literally look at this picture.

You think THAT guy is worth ANY 1st rd pick?? In the NBA??????

  19. AlbrechtSchoenheiser

No. It’s not worth it and his hairline would kill the vibe of this team. Do you actually want to see Bojan standing next to somebody like Oubre? No, of course you don’t. Please stop this nonsense.

I am looking at these comments and I am happy we have collectively come to an agreement that people who can’t defend do not help us

If we could avoid Tatum holding up 5 fingers again that would be ideal
